Shout out to Nana. Finish the story Ai Yazawa Sensei it's been almost 20 years. The incident with the cop in the beginning is why I have little to no sympathy for Carmela Soprano for as terrible a person to is to her she has certain blindspots when it comes to him.

Artie in this episode reminds me so much of Toby from The Office. I haven’t felt that much cringe since Toby put his hand on Pam's leg. Also, shoutout to good ol' Paulie from the Rocky movies playing Bobby Baccala's old man with the cough.

You all are quite right when it comes to Artie. There is nothing wrong with him wanting to branch out in business and maybe start mass producing marinara sauces and the like, but why does it have to be with Tony! I think Charmaine would be open to it if she knew it was going to be a legitimate business and there was a rock solid business plan. But Artie seems insistent on using his mob connections to get ahead in business, and this comes with ramifications that could end in disaster. You know if he went in to business with Tony, Tony would be using the business to launder money and do all kinds of suss shit that could end with Artie being put in jail or worse! Artie definitely resents Charmaine as he feels she keeps him straight, and while he has to toil away earning legitimate money, Tony gets to earn ten times as much sitting on his ass banging 24 year old Russian hotties behind his wifes back. Its not hard to see why Artie is jealous, but he doesn't seem to realise that he has it better than them because he is not constantly in danger of being arrested or whacked. As for his crush on Adriana, that whole scene I am sure was intended to be cringe and it really showed, but he is trying to emulate Tony, who wouldn't think twice about going for a good looking woman half his age . The difference is Ade is engaged to a made guy, so he really is playing with fire there. His friendship with Tony protects him up to a point, but if he did sleep with Adriana, and Chris killed Artie, technically there would be nothing Tony could do about it, that would be well within the rules of the mafia. Chris is made and Artie isnt!

The therapy is a regular staple of the show because the creator of the show went to therapy himself. A lot of the issues tony has are lifted from his own experiences.

Interesting thing about Tony with that cop. My step-dad was very racist. Had racism deeply instilled in him, like Tony. And yet, I noticed, any time it came to other stuff he related to, like a black guy being involved in a divorce, or a black guy getting screwed over in a job, or other things like that, it was like the racism melted away. The only explanation I can think of for it, is that he also understood that the racism was pointless nonsense, but that he just felt too committed to stop, and felt like it would hurt his ego too much to admit he was wrong.

For someone in the mafia, Bobby is honestly the most wholesome guy.

#SundayRundown This episode got Emmy nods. Shout-outs to Dominic Chianese (94 and still working), Jack Bender (Lost), who directed, and Burt Young (RIP) for showing ol' Paulie still had something left in the "basement."

Bobby's dad is Paulie from Rocky. Charles S Dutton plays the cop that pulls Tony over, He's a great actor who's been in Alien 3, Rudy, A time to kill and a great 90s tv show called Roc. Artie is Tony's childhood friend, so it gives him alot of plot armor. I mean he pointed a shotgun at Tony and lived to talk about it. Since Tony doesn't have a brother i feel he sees Artie as his brother. He has his ups and downs with Janice and he hardly talk to his other sister, Barbara but Artie is his non blood brother and Tony will give him a very long leash even with other mobsters. I feel Chris knows he can beat up Artie and threaten him but he can't kill Artie. Everyone in the gang knows Artie is prolly untouchable. Some good eps to come, enjoy.

Charles S. Dutton (who plays the cop) also directed a David Simon miniseries based on one of his books (The Corner). It's an amazing show but, for some reason, it's not available on streaming (someone posted the episodes on YouTube, but parts of it are muted for copyright reasons). If it ever ends up back on a streamer (presumably HBOMAX), you should give it a watch.

Small correction the business opportunity Artie is talking about is a legit business opportunity his wife just hate Tony it's less to do with it's a criminal situation remember she told carmela that her and Tony use to date remember Furio worked at their restaurant she wasn't happy but you think she would've let Tony work at the restaurant especially since she knows Furio is only working there to help with getting a green card so he can stay an do mob stuff which is illegal also in my opinion it's more about Tony and less about crime like Tony mom she would go out her way to dislike thing she like because it was from Tony

It is hard to take someone seriously for mentioning a recognized concept in Psychology..? You clearly lack media comprehension skills if you don't recognize the role of toxic masculinity in this series. Do better Nicholas..

Fun fact: The Tiger dress that Adriana wore is a 2000's designer item by Robert Cavalli. The cheapest authentic one, currently available online, cost $5,600 for a USED one. Completely disagree with Chris & Pat when they said it was ugly but obviously fashion is subjective. In todays climate I could see them looking at the dress and thinking its AI generated lmao. One thing y'all didn't catch though is the writers retconning the history of Vesuvio's. In season one after his restaurant is blown up, Artie is at a BBQ with Tony & the gang and they're talking about the restaurant. Artie says something along the lines of "Why would people stop coming, the restaurant is just starting to catch on." But in this episode Charmaine says that Vesuvio's was opened by Artie's grandfather in the 1930's. This show actually has an insane amount of retconning that you catch on rewatches.

Veya

I always took that to mean his own version of vesuvio and that it was a passed down name. i don't think this is a good example of retconning because there's enough ambiguity and possible explanations. There's a better one in the pilot episode where silvio had to ask tony if he went to school with someone named artie but the dynamic we see later in that season shows the three of them having kids that go to the same school and in soccer practice where silvio should almost certainly know who artie is and his history with tony. season one has some retcons but it's not an insane amount.

Hank Scorpio

Not only that. When Silvio shows up in that scene. Everyone is talking like Silvio isnt around that much and seeing him there is a surprise.
