This time I’m not late because I confuse this for a readalong!

Reynaldo Urena

#SundayRundown - You’ve already met the marine that “supposedly” captured Kuro, Suraj. The blonde marine who we see in the flashback was Captain Morgan! And capturing Kuro did get him alot of accolades and a big promotion, he was promoted 7 ranks higher from a Chief Petty Officer to a Lieutenant Commander. It’s also why he became a villain, he gained power so fast in the Navy that he became obsessed with climbing the ranks until he became a Captain. Also, because Morgan’s arm was maimed and chin was shattered from the Battle with Kuro, he is also the reason why Morgan has a prosthetic arm and chin.

Michael Acuna

#Sunday Rundown: The way Mayumi Tanaka plays Monkey D. Luffy as being cheerfully goofy and switching to strikingly serious is awesome, also voices for Koenma in YYH, so she's great at playing youthful characters. These points also match why both Navi and Marketa are fun at playing Luffy in the stream, especially with his emotional speeches. Also, the first One Piece movie premiered after ep 16, on March 4th, 2000! It's short, but enjoyable, with original artwork from the manga.

I eagerly await Jeremy Renner

#SundayRundown That marine who got credit for capturing Kuro was the one you saw earlier , his name was Morgan and he had the big axe hand. Its also why he was a captain rank and so weak, he got his promotion on the idea that he could beat someone like kuro who you see giving luffy a hard time, but he didnt actually beat kuro

GodUsopp

I promise you I remember this arc sucking a lot more than it does while watching it with you guys, I didnt remember it being this funny and only having 1 more week left in it lol

GodUsopp

#SundayRundown luffys serious moments is why alot of people including myself hate his dub voice, for suraj just picture namek saga gohan trying to do some of luffys serious dialogue moments when his face is shadded black and you cant see his eyes, those moments are why alot of people like Luffy, because he can go from being super goofy and laughing to deadly serious and giving someone a death glare back to being goofy

Jon Mercano

Renner plays a character who partly shares a name with a One Piece character

StrawHat

i have nothing to say other than i love luffy and usopp, im glad yall are enjoying this

Dale Cooper

Didn't that marine who turned in the fake Kuro look alot like Captain Morgan?

kdaW

Another fun fact, is Morgan's metal chin is to cover up his butt chin (like the one his son has).

Xonok

Timestamp 13:03 that's Captain Axe-Hand Morgan from episode 2. Oda confirmed in an SBS this was the reason why Morgan got promoted in rank. Also, why Morgan was delusional about his own strength, since in the East Blue capturing a 16 million berry pirate is a big deal.

Shockzz1234

I love it, because Morgan was already not shit but finding out his "big success" wasn't even real just retroactively adds to the feeling of fakeness to him even more.

Shockzz1234

That pic of Rana with the marine hat is taking me out lmao. Anyway, big up the Usopp Pirates. What nice kids they are, and they even contributed! You'll find this out more as we go along but Oda is very very good at writing children/kid characters. Which is an especially great trait to have as a writer because i find most of the time a LOT of kids in all kinds of different media tend to be written in a very annoying way, and a lot of the time they're not even meant to be annoying, it's just a lot of adults seemingly don't know how to write children in an actual engaging way that doesn't make them irritating or stupid etc. Not Oda though, that shit is his bag (and he has a lot of bags!).

Adan Guzman

Awww they didn’t notice PANDAMAN 🐼 at 20:16 Looks like our boy was among the Black Cat Pirates here. Next time he’ll appear is in Episode 21.

Episode 15 was the very first episode I ever watched of One Piece and it got me hooked ever since. What got me intrigued is how they described that Luffy had rubber powers and how he got them which I didn’t know beforehand. I was also moved by how Usopp tried to get up and ordered the Veggie Pirates(what they called Usopp pirates in 4kids dub) to protect Kaya and how Luffy threatened the Black Cat Pirates for laughing at Usopp. This being one of my first anime other than Pokemon, it shocked me how a scrawny looking guy like Luffy lifted and slammed down a huge boulder at 8:43. 😅

Dobriv

Euro broke his jaw, that was why he had the metal piece on his mouth

Sri

The AXE HAND MORGAN you see fighting luffy and zoro is the one who was hypnotised to believe he caught fake kuro and thats how he became the captain for the navy base were zoro was held

Kwame James

Also Kuro said he shattered his jaw which is why he has the metal jaw thing he might have lost his hand then too
