Sage

I was wondering why you guys didn’t start watching this

Curtis Rice

Been waiting for you guys to do it.

Sage

Also wondering where that is

VenturaInTheBaja

The series is not it…(pun intended). Sadly, from first episode it just won’t hit the same as a feature film. Like the predator badlands and alien earth, they keep making horror stuff into Taylor Swift Starbucks fan consumption sweetness.

Jul_Belton

I watched your reactions to both IT movies where it was explained in detail what Pennywise is, so if ya'll keep speculating and saying the most outlandish shit, I'm going to lose my mind.

Sage

Huh? Predator badlands is badass

Sickleweed

They wouldn't be the only reactors who forgot details from the movies (and that other King movie which they just recently watched) so for your own mental health you should just prepare to cut them some slack and relax.

Shawn Brink

You know what doesn't hit the same? The movies compared to the novels. Not even in the same time period. What you are complaining about is the exact same thing every book reader said about the movies. They even used the 1980's. I wonder why????? It movies were just as bad as this show.

AvatarConner

Sunday Rundown Comment: So friendly reminder for the reactors, this takes place before the movies, very obvious I know, but it's worth keeping mind that None of these characters we meet have any plot armor whatsoever as Pennywise doesn't get defeated until 2016, so Pennywise isn't going anywhere. Number two to keep in mind, Pennywise can be ANYTHING your afraid of, part of the reason he goes after kids is because they have imaginative fears compared to adults. Little kids are afraid of monsters while adults fear student debt, one you can manifest while the other is a concept. Number 3, Pennywise has a effect on the town of Derry itself, like if children kept going missing every thirty years on the dot then No one would live there. But it keeps adult's placid, it makes them forget about all the terrible, awful things IT does. And finally number 4........well actually I don't have one outside of, keep in mind that a lot of Stephen King stories are connected. Like while Pennywise is doing his thing, Carrie's prom happens, Cujo is terrorizing a mom and child in a car while suffering rabies. Jerusalem's Lot a small town in Maine down the road from Derry, is being infested with vampires.

OBrian Vega

Y’all wild doing that to pat 🤣

VenturaInTheBaja

lol it’s the exact opposite of everything that made Predator a massive hit. Zero mystery now of the predator. It’s teaming up and has human emotions and feels alone lol. The CGI is weightless and slop. People who like badlands probably love phantom menace too… CGI slop and it could have been ANY alien creature. Rewatch Predator and then the new one and you’ll see how much the new one was “disneyfied” and made so teen girls could somehow feel for the predator 😂😂

VenturaInTheBaja

Go watch The Critical Drinkers review and you’ll understand exactly why it is not “badass”. CGI is never badass. The original is badass.. 40 years later, classic. The new one is just CGI mess.

Cee Jay

The car opening was a great example of terrifying misdirect. The fact a kid is hitchhiking alone is enough reason to be scared but then it’s a regular family with nothing peculiar except the fact they are picking up a random kid. Disarming the audience’s fight or flight response. Then it just dovetails from there.

Steve Rivera

Just to remind you guys, It is an ancient creature. We are not getting an origin story her per se. Just going backwards in the 27-30 year cycle of its feedings. It also showed it landing as a meteor in Derry. Doesn't mean it's an alien though, the novel points more towards an interdimensional being. Also, It is It. The movies, book and show is called It. Pennywise is its preferred form, probably because it's pretty humanoid despite being creepy. But it is It. An immaterial being(mostly). It can manifest as whatever it may need to scare you the most. If It has a true form, it's the three Dead Lights. They manifest It into whatever it may need. Idk if you remember in It Chapter 2 but the Dead Lights are shown pulsing energy to Pennywise as he was shape shifting in battle against the grown up Losers Club. Hmmm also just to throw this in, It is a disease upon Derry. Kids are meaner, parents are usually pretty inattentive at best, monsters of their own at worst. There's a few good ones, but most that grow up in Derry(and survive) get poisoned by his presence. The whole town is under It's spell.

Jul_Belton

I would, but these are not small details. They're going to miss the references to the Shining, too. This is going to be dire.

Adan Guzman

Despite everything, I would still rather take my chances with Pennywise the Clown over Art the Clown any day. When you eventually get to Terrifier 2 and 3 you might agree too.

SergeTroy

Second hand, it’s my understanding that the real story of the show is about the Town of Derry, not Pennywise directly. I’m a bit irritated as I’d hoped it would delve into the origins of It, how old It was, and how it arrived in Derry. I know the “official” story from the novel but I never watched the newest movies so I dunno if or how much was changed. Crazy they killed all but 2, and more likely 1 of the kids. But also odd I don’t think that horror-baby ate any of them, since that’s Pennywise’s motif and I figured the freak was a manifestation of It.

SergeTroy

It also seems to be gelatinous as it shifts from one form to another, and all but invincible when it’s set in a monstrous form. I’m not sure if it was specific to the Losers Club, but they visualized it as best they could (in the material world) as a giant, monstrous spider that was shockingly female. One curiosity is why Gan (its creator) created it with the intent to fail.

SergeTroy

I dunno, Pennywise has the ability to alter reality and can only be killed (or maybe only banished?) through extremely specific circumstances. I know Art is functionally immortal (one sequel = 1 lifebar) and probably causes more pain than a demonic entity eating a child catatonic with fear (probably) but I never saw him inspiring that level of dread. Simultaneously I hold the novel above the miniseries or movies.

SergeTroy

Actually, children DO go missing and in much greater numbers every 27 years (roughly). Even during the hibernation period Derry is an incredibly violent place and strange disappearances (blamed on runaways and such) are just accepted. During Its waking period the number of murders beyond the children increases exponentially. And It’s power and effects are felt far beyond Derry, with barely any news leaking out. The adults are basically apathetic, and major news organizations mention the massacre blithely like they would the rain.

SergeTroy

To be honest, I’m hoping they change a bit at least. I wasn’t super impressed beyond the projector scene and Beverly in that one old woman’s apartment (the projector especially for me).

Sage

You sound like a person that can’t make their own opinion until everyone else has one. You watched the movie with your eyes closed, if you even watched it at all

VenturaInTheBaja

It was lame… the predator keeps having more human traits with every new movie, how dumb. They are catering to the masses and the masses are “C” level students, always remember that.

Rob Church

I'm sorry, but this was bad guys... one of your worst reactions so far.

Rob Church

SergeTroy, in another comment you said you never watched the newest movies?

Adam Vialpando

Pennywise is not IT. Pennywise is one of the many disguises of IT, albeit the most recognizable version. From what I have heard there will be multiple seasons, each one going further back. S2 should be in 1935 and S3 will be in 1908.

SergeTroy

Never meant to imply otherwise, but using “It” as a name is confusing for most people. Likewise, Bob Gray is unrecognizable, it’s basically never used. So calling “It” Pennywise makes by far the most sense.

Sage

What was so human about the predator in prey??

Nehmer4Life

I feel cheated of my money. Uncut is all blurred. Other episodes have a big ass timer on it. I might file a PayPal dispute.
