You notice how she licked her lips when he put his hand around her throat, that's great, acting. It's also an interesting watch to see Christopher slowly be disillusioned by the mob life, he's idolized his entire existence. The harsh reality of being a made guy is that it's just stress, probably why he turned the drugs and alcohol. He realizes it is all a lie, but he doesn't want to admit it, they're all just bunch of hypocrites. Trapped in a never-ending cycle of violence.

Gloria was a red flag from the beginning. But she is unlike the normal women he goes for who are Ex-Strippers/prostitutes from Bada Bing. His attraction to her was that she, appeared at least, so be a strong independent woman who had her shit together, when that couldnt have been further from the truth. Melfi was right, Carmela is the best thing that ever happened to him relationship wise but his toxic ego as a mafia boss dictates that he has to have a side piece, as all of them do. Fun Fact ,the song Gloria dances to, that is played at the end, is actually sung by Steve Van Zandt aka Silvio. He is a musician with Bruce Springsteen's E Street band and has some songs under his belt under the name Little Steven. The Sopranos was his first acting gig.

"Here's some standard operating procedure" 😂 "it won't be Cinematic" those lines were actually kinda cold. They made patsy kinda cold. It's the most serious I've ever taken him and it's the most baddest he's ever looked.

The Tony–Ralphie scene is a masterclass in manipulation. Both of them want the kid dead. There is no realistic way Jackie Jr. was ever going to walk out of that meeting alive. What they are really doing is trying to force the other one to give the order. Ralphie wants Tony to give it, probably because of Rosalie. Tony wants Ralphie to give it, probably because of Meadow and Jackie Aprile Sr. So he manipulates Ralphie: “I understand if you’d like to give the kid a pass, and everyone else would understand too…” No, they wouldn’t. Just look at how Christopher reacts. Tony knows it, Ralphie knows it. And then Tony tightens the screw: “Who cares what they say behind your back?”—fully aware that reputation is everything in an organization built on respect and fear. He’s cornering Ralphie, making sure he understands that letting Jackie live would destroy his standing as a captain. It was Ralphie’s game—his reputation was supposed to make it safe for everyone—and now three dumb kids pulled off a robbery, and Ralphie just forgives them? In other words, Ralphie has no real choice. You can see on Tony’s face how much he despises Ralphie when he says, “You schooled him as best you could… didn’t you?” No, he didn’t—and they both know it. Tony makes Ralphie understand that whatever is going to happen to Jackie is partly Ralphie’s fault, and that Ralphie must be the one to carry it out.

Suraj really hit the nail on the head with the last scene with Patsy. It's to show how these guys can so easily hide the ugly part of themselves to their loved ones.

This season is in large part about how lost all of these people are at navigating their issues. Both Tony and Carmela seek help from advisors. AJ can only ever answer "I don't know" whenever he gets in trouble. Jackie Jr. tries to navigate through an environment that has long moved past the one he thinks he's in. Meadow has the same relationship issues that her father has. There's also an interesting contrast between Glora and Livia despite the similarities: Melfi mentions that Gloria does love Tony while she would never say that about Livia and has been trying to get Tony to pretty much admit the opposite. There's also a lot of texture in the relationships: he can't stand people talking about their personal problems because he associates drama with Livia. Yet he's not engaging with Carmela but still feels the need to stay with her because she isn't Livia. He's not even fully throwing himself into the dysfunctions he's placing himself into. He's just continuing on with an eroding center that's been plaguing him since the start of the show. Also Feech WAS part of their mob family. Tony and Jackie Sr. robbed their own. That's what Jackie Jr. tried to emulate and failed at. It's another way the show weaves the idea of decay into the story.

Guys I feel like y'all think Tony and Carmela have sex once a year, so just to clarify they meant oral sex not actual sex. Remember when that was brought up in season 1, they were talking about Junior eating out his girlfriend, hence when Tony told Carmela not to tell anyone he also goes down on her she said "oh please once a year? I think i can resist the urge to gossip". Just to clarify, cause y'all have repeated it a bunch of times in the reactions that they only have sex once a year, they meant only oral sex.

People dump on Freud's Mother-Son and Father-Daughter analysis all the time, but really I think that's mostly based on misunderstanding. It doesn't mean that you specifically want to sleep with your opposite parent. It simply means that your most familiar experience with the opposite sex is that of your Mother/Father, depending. The way your Mother/Father represents femininity/masculinity is what's most familiar to you, so it's natural to seek partners with those same traits, but without the negatives. So, it's not that they want to sleep with their opposite parent. It's more like you want to sleep with someone that's better than your opposite parent, in the same way you seek to be better than your same sex parent.

GoldArthur

Oh two things I don't think you guys got. 1) Tony and Carmella have sex more often than once a year. The "once a year" thing was talking about oral specifically. 2) Tony doesn't beat women. I don't think you guys caught that the only reason Tony hit Gloria was because she insulted Carmella "I'm not some goombah housewife". That was a one-off case. He told Gloria he smacked around the previous girlfriend, but that was a lie. If falls in line with how you said he views Carmella as an equal. I think it's more than that though. I think the show is trying to say that Tony sees Carmella as too good for him.

Just a small correction sunshine isn't a made guy he is just a employee like the bouncer from the bing they protected but just shooting him wasn't enough to get him killed

Kwame James

Small correction Feech la Manna was made on the other side aka in Italy but he was in the sopranos family like Furio he was also made on the other side but Tony bought him over to his family just a FYI in the Mob so that no one family can be too powerful every family can only have a set amount of made man they can only add more when someone gets a promotion or dies and they need the other families to ok to make sure you don't have a problem with other families or worst that you a rat which is why in season one Tony keep telling Chris the books wasn't open and they not accepting new members but after pussy was killed he told Chris he proposing him to get his button

This!!! ^^ #SundayRundown this for sure, I feel like majority of fans don’t catch this bc it’s hidden so well, but yeah they both know Jackie has to die, just a chess match of who’s gonna actually give the order, one of my favorite dialogue driven scenes

Thee Chronicle

We have watched The Wire, Breaking Bad and now The Sopranos. We need the only show that rivals those shows. THE SHIELD

Veya

They did catch this though. Suraj already mentioned it.

Veya

I mean the madonna-whore complex in general doesn't seem to fit too neatly with the dynamics presented. He doesn't really have hang ups about carmela's sexuality and he's pointed out her hypocrisy and materialism before so he's not really under any real illusions that she's pure. also livia was a housewife just like carmela where his mistresses usually have jobs and are more independent. it's that one relationship reflects a specific dynamic with his mother and the other doesn't, regardless of sexuality. he's still chasing love in his mistresses, just love that's so warped.

Braavosi

Heavily recommend Deadwood

Wes

Chris that was Vanilla Ice in that interview Jackie and Dino were watching, not Fred Durst lol

Sean Carleton

Lost topping the greatest episodes list makes me as happy as it does Suraj.

Are we ever going to get a good answer for why the uncuts don't start at the beginning of the episode? At least this one was only about 10 seconds after, but I genuinely don't understand why this is the only reaction channel that does uncuts like this.

SergeTroy

I should mention that the actress playing Gloria (Arabella Sciorra) was the key witness addressing the predatory sexual assault charges during Weinstein's trial in 2020, leading to his conviction.

SergeTroy

So much great stuff in the 2nd season especially.

Heidi Louise

I agree it is a little confusing. I would like to see the timestamp of the starting scene on their video so that I can match it with my copy. I did notice that their video starts at the very beginning, so if I start both videos at the same time it is also synced up

Lambo

Tony and Ralphie both want Jackie dead but they're trying to palm the official order off onto eachother due to their emotional ties with the Aprille family and none of them want the guilt.
