Happy holidays!!! Also this movie sucks dog balls, the bad DC run has been fun, but I don't know how much more I can handle chief 😂

Can't wait for you guys to get back to the animated movies. So many standalone ones to look forward too.

Yikes this movie was soo bad. I remember watching this with my wife, and mind you I was smoking a lot so I was cosmic, and even through the intense haze of weed high, about 30-45mins into the movie I said to my wife “Ohmygod this is really bad…”

This one I still unabashedly like. There are some crazy choices made. Movies dealing with magic are always risky cause the conclusion is nonsense for the destruction caused. Greed isn’t logical. Navi is living in Trump era 1 and 2 how does she not understand this? The fact he’s an oil tycoon is more relevant than ever in the year 2025. Max’s flaw was feeling he wasn’t enough from his upbringing so he wanted more to prove himself to others. The opening connects because kid Diana was trying to take a shortcut to get what she wants. The movie wasn’t simply 80s greed, it was the cost of taking a shortcut. Diana’s mothers’ took her victory away cause it wasn’t hers. Just like Steve told her. She had to do the hard work of building a life not just clinging to the past. Steve accepted he had a good life and the time they had together. Diana was hiding as Wonder Woman and mourning what she lost. Diana asked the world to make the hard choice themselves by looking at the cost. Barbara Minerva version of Cheetah has a deeper backstory but the writers basically mashed her archeological background with the original 40s Cheetah named Priscilla Rich who was basically just jealous of Wonder Woman. Barbara was fine. That’s the point Navi was missing. Barbara idolized a version of Diana that didn’t exist. Barbara had no idea of the pain Diana carried. Just the beauty and sexiness. That’s why Barbara became obssesed with the strength cause she had no idea Diana was Wonder Woman then wanted to be more ie greed. I understand Suraj wanting Max to face justice but Wonder Woman tries to reform her villains to stop doing crime. Batman throws them in Arkham. Superman puts them in the Phantom Zone if he has to. Wonder Woman tries to reform them. The Duke of Deception is a super minor WW villain that they probably did need to show him in some form to give a face to what was going on.

Griff

Why would you do this to yourselves???

Zeee

I thought this was the last bad DC movie? What’s the other one?

Zeee

If it wasn’t for the Joker movie series, going from the first WW to this would be the greatest downgrade in comic book movie history. Total MEH.

Sickleweed

Ok your skit was way more fun than the movie! 😂😂 Merry Christmas, Normies!

The Dream Stone is far more important from what it was inspired from which is the Dream Ruby, in the DC lore as it's one of the 3 artifacts that holds power from Dream of The Endless. Dream is one of the 7 Endless members and one of the most powerful DC entities as he rules over the dreaming which is basically the collective unconscious of every being of every multiverse and occasionally interacts with John Constantine, Lucifer Morningstar etc. Furthermore, Wonder Woman (Golden Age) daughter "Lyta Hall, who is one of the furies" has a baby with a ghost from the dreaming which causes problems. But Dream of the Endless (Morpheus) makes that baby "Hector Hall" the new Dream of the Endless after the sisters of Fate kill him. It's crazy cus Dream of the Endless makes characters like Superman look like a joke in powerscaling as he exists beyond the traditional multiverse and omniverses and would also see the Crisis Events unfold several times. All of this is also in the Netflix Series "The Sandman" which is 2 seasons.

I'd be happier if they watched Arrowverse related content 😅 not even full episodes just then skipping to the crossovers would be cool and chaotic.

This movie is a big example of the issue of giving directors freedom. The first Wonder Woman is still one of my top 3 favorite live action superhero movies. Patty Jenkins did a great job there, script was good, story was good, acting was good. Every actor was directed well and played to their strengths to make up for weaknesses. Then WB see's the movie did well and tells Patty Jenkins she's got a free reign to do whatever she wants. As soon as I saw that in an article or interview I started to worry. Every great movie that's followed by the same director being told they can do whatever... has ended badly in my eyes. Some are still decent... but all have issues. Directors need limits. They need to be constrained and to find ways to get around those constraints or push against them... that tends to make great movies. But if they just do whatever they want... issues tend to arise. I can see what they were going for her... essentially a modern Christopher Reeves Superman film... but the previous movie DID NOT have this tone. It was not this campy, it was light and colorful in places sure, Diana was naive sure, but things were still dark and serious when needed. I mean it was World War 1 and she fought the god of war. Going from that to campy Reeves Superman stuff and a campy huckster villain and a Cheetah who is a mixture of Batman Returns Selina Kyle and Spider-Man 3 Symbiote Bullymagurie... doesn't feel like a natural sequel to Wonder Woman 1. If this was Patty's vision for it... then whatever the studio constraints were on the first one seem to be a live saver for the film. Gunn's Superman shows it's possible to have a Reeve's Superman type movie still... but it will be a bit divisive still. Some audience members just find that campy stuff dated and expect something darker and more mature. All that said I do still like it... personally. I get why people don't and some of it does make me cringe, but there are good elements. The history buff and museum lover that I am really identified with Diana and Steve with showing him the Smithsonian. Her happiness to show it to him and his happiness seeing it all was great. And I love the change in dynamic from him showing her the world to now her being the one. I like the 80s setting and vibes. I like the invisible jet and that humor. I like the stuff on Themiskyra(if only so the hot athletic woman lover that I am got to see more really hot athletic women). Pedro I could see could work as Maxwell Lord... but didn't care for his arc or plot. Wiig as Cheetah... nothing against her or her performance... but again didn't care for her plot and how Cheetah came to be. I can see elements of a good or even great movie... keep the tone similar, be way more serious, have Maxwell BE a villain. Do Cheetah completely different or not even use her if it's so difficult to put her in live action and use some other Greek mythology villain. Personally I like Gal as an actress. She has her strengths and weaknesses. There are definitely roles that suit her better and suit her worse, ways to direct her and write her that would play to her strengths instead of weaknesses. She does a naive optimism incredibly well in Wonder Woman 1. She great in BvS as someone who was optimistic and then became jaded and then became apathetic. She did a mysterious ancient apathy great in that and then the warrior personality and ancient warrior in the last part was great, she honestly stole the show in BvS as far as I was concerned. Then Justice League(Whedon) she was still good as the co-commander with Batfleck and was believably a veteran and powerful warrior and leader. In the Snyder Cut even more so. the 'Kal-El no' line delivery everyone references I honestly didn't see an issue with when I saw it and heard it. I guess it could have been delivered differently but I never did and still don't see it as some laughably bad acting. Given it was in both versions and no other takes were done or used, seems she did it the way the directors wanted. Honestly most 'bad acting' I've seen complained about in superhero movies like January Jones in X-men or in the Star Wars Prequels with Hayden and Natalie... it all came down to the director making them deliver their lines in those tones. At any rate I still like Gal and her performance. That said here... it's hit or miss... which I again attribute more to the writing and directing. But of the whole cast... she's honestly the 2nd best performance behind Pine's Steve. So overall... not great, not terrible. But I do say most of that blame I'd put on WB for not reigning in their director.

DC has a problem when it comes to sequels. Wonder Woman was fine, the sequel was bad. Aquaman was fine, the sequel sucked. It's like they just can't make 2 decent movies in a franchise! lol

RAV3RXTZ

I can't watch WW84 again. Loved the first.

#sundayrundown How did the same person write/ direct Wonder Woman and WW 1984? The first is to me the best of the Snyderverse. This one is a steaming pile of horse crap. Wish Steve back to life by hijacking some poor schmuck's body? Nope. Use the same weak Batman trope from Catwoman and Poison Ivy for Cheetah? (meek woman transforms into ass kicker) Cheetah deserved better. There were good action scenes, but Max Lord was not menacing. The best thing in this is Lynda Carter's cameo.

First, I think Navi misunderstand where Barbara coming from. Yes, she has a job, and that's it? She won't feel the need to want more? Also, she just got hired "last week", she is not some kind senior scientist or have money to do whatever she want. Even if that was true, when someone is deeply insecure, why having money will solve that? And she doesn't just want to be hot, she literally wished to be a confident woman like Diana: "Strong, sexy, cool. Special." Yes, "Special". She doesn't just want to look good, she need the attention that she probably doesn't get very much. And to the extreme she become non human. Even if someone has "everything", they sometime also feel the need to want more, that why we have billionaires and billionaire who does petty thing like lying about how good he is at gaming. One of the movie's theme is about greed, and how people will do anything to get more, people will lie and cheat to get it. The stone is the cheat and also a lie, because it's a monkey paw, it's a exchange not a grant. At the beginning, the film told you that the true "accomplishments", where is the Daina want to be a champion when she is not ready yet, or Maxwell Lord want to archives greatness ( accomplished by using his son's wish) can't not come from a lie. And the "wish stone" is a creation of the God of Lies. Also, Maxwell Lord wished to be the "wish stone", and the stone's sole purpose is to grant wishes, so by become the stone make him having a strong unnaturally urge to grant wishes, just like what the stone being made for. And pare with his own wishes to be great, the movie cheekily made him the incarnation of "Greed", . It's what he is made for and also what he wants. I don't know why Steve Trevor need to comeback in other man's body. Maybe it's because how Diana wished to meet someone new but also want it to be Steve , like when a widow ready to move on but also still can't get rid of the dead husband's shadow? Maybe because this internal conflict made the wish what it was. And the rest of it just a writer oversight. Last, I don't think this is a bad movie, this movie does have a slow pace, but to me it's not sloshy, it has a well made story structure and all the pieces are neatly fitted together, it's not a bad slow paced movie like Green Lantern where some of the theme and even scenes just go nowhere, and we just jumping around places. It's a very well made movie, but is not a good superhero movie. The problem is that the slow paced movie require audience to pay more attention and to think more deeply than a superhero audience want to do, just like Chris "Just Punch Somebody" Johnson always said "JUST PUNCH SOMEBODY". People watching superhero movie usually are not the type of people to connect the dot analyzing concepts crafting theories, or they do but they don't want wasting time on a superhero movies. That why we will never get a detective Batman movie, there will be hundreds thousands Chris yelling just punch someone. The movie kind fall apart at end where they need a solution to this whole mess, and that is also because this is a superhero movie, the hero need to win, you can't just end it in a poetic way.

I can forgive some mistakes and some suspensions of disbelief... but this was beyond anything. Even the return of Steve Trevor is such a... disgusting thing. But there are so many problems with this. It is not a movie that makes sense, within its own universe, and that is its biggest flaw. A story and power is defined, primarily, by its limitations. But there are none, in this movie. It is a freaking wishing stone, that somehow gives everyone wishes through TV, even though it was established that they had to touch it. Never mind that not all countries speak English. Then there is the mess with opposing wishes. Some people would wish whole parts of the world dead... you think they are going to retract that, based on a speech? There is also somehow a jet, in a museum, that is not only, fully functional, but also fully fueled. And that is like 10% of the things in this movie, that is a problem, way beyond superpowers and fantastical people... This movie does not just require suspension of disbelief... it requires suspension of every rule in the universe and their universe too. It is SO badly put together, because obviously, the director didn't seem to know more than certain small points about WW's character.

This movie felt like a filler episode compared to the first Wonder Woman film. I would love another Wonder Woman movie set in a war, or have her join Jonah Hex in the Old West. I wanted to know why Diana left the world and disappeared into obscurity, since in Batman V Superman, Bruce was looking for her as if she were some sort of myth. However, if we take into account this movie, there is no way she would have been forgotten. Maybe had Diana joined the soldiers in World War 2, the atrocities of war would have turned her off to the whole superhero business.

Calvin Allen

This movie is definitely overhated. They are asking the movie to get going while it's literally telling the story. I never understand what peoples' problem with this one is

Calvin Allen

I liked the solution. I felt like it tied together thematically

Sage

The people that give you guys movie suggestions are not very good at it….

Grimbane42

Not defending this movie, its pretty terrible but his motivation kind of works. He wished to be the stone, so his goal suddenly becomes you make a wish, and you make a wish, and you make wish, it kind of makes sense, that was the stones purpose and he is the stone.

CJ Dennis

I don't enterily see the complaint about the pacing. It's not Ashoka levels of bad pacing where scenes are dragged out with nothing happening. Perhaps it's a while before she puts on the costume, but I feel like there are many other superheroes films that do the same such as Spider-Man 2 or Iron Man 🤔. Nevertheless, I do agree with other criticisms towards the film such as how unnecessary the Steve taking over another body thing was when they could have just simply had him come back without needing to do that, or at the very least have the characters acknowledge the problem here a d show what going on with the original guy and make him aware of what's happening 🤔. I do like some parts of the film such as: Max having a son as that might give him more depth. The actors are still likable and enjoyable in their roles, the action is good, and the film looks great (outside the final fight which is to dark and murkey looking and I hate that in films) Other than that: the writing is a mess and problematic, the invisible powers come out of nowhere and seems like a very flimsy excuse to have the invisible jet, and Barbara becoming Cheetah comes in too late so it feels like we are just doing that just to bring Cheetah into the film 🤔. Also, small nitpick but the Lynda Carter cameo probably should have been in the actual film (not the end credits) and it should have involved her interacting with Diana. I always found it weird that that didn't happen in the first film 🤔.

CJ Dennis

I kind of disagree about the part where you mention how people seeing a superhero movie don't want to watch something that makes them pay attention to details and instead just want to see the hero punch someone. If that were the case then The Dark Knight or The Batman wouldn't have been beloved by so many. The latter of which many would argue does capture Batman as a detective. In addition, the reason that complaint might be there is because if the movie is not doing enough to make it's audience really interested in the story, then yes people will be yelling: "punch somebody" or "get to the action". Although, I do agree that this film doesn't have that problem compared to other things like green lantern. I personally didn't feel like the film was moving too slow so I do disagree with the normies there 🤔.
