The Zen'in Massacre!!! One of my favorite moments in the series and it instantly made Maki one of my top 5 characters in JJK, from here on out every scene with her is fire! Also a bit unrelated but seeing how phenomenal Mappa animated this, I am so HYPED for season 2 of Chainsaw Man when they introduce you know who and make her the coolest lady ever.❤️‍🔥

Clarification for the couch: Maki used to have a little bit of Cursed Energy before this, but thanks to her Heavenly Restriction, she couldn't use any techniques. Now with Mai gone, like Toji, Maki's completely free of Cursed Energy and all her points got sent to her physical abilities

BlackHeart279

In Jujutsu identical twins, specifically the ones who share an amniotic sac are considered one individual in two bodies. Therefore neither Maki nor Maï could have ever reached their full potential as long as the other one is alive. Maï decided to die using all of her cursed energy making the weapon, but she also took all of the little bit of cursed energy Maki had. What made Toji’s Heavenly Restriction so perfect was that he had ZERO curse energy. Maki is now the same, she has awakened, although at a terrible cost. Personally I feel conflicted about Maki killing her mother, I mean she was complicit in the scheme to murder her twin daughters, but as it shows from her last actions, deep down she hated the Zen’in, just as Maki did. I mean, remember that first scene Naoya was in ? Where he was talking trash about Maki and Maï and just being hyper misogynistic “Any woman unwilling to walk humbly behind her man should be stabbed in the back and killed”? The lady he was talking to as she was walking behind him was Maki & Maï’s mom ! That scene end with her still having to get on her knees to tie his sandals. She probably had to deal with this level of disrespect since she married into the family. Hence Maki & Maï’s mom being like “I’m glad to have given birth to you at the end”, Maki’s annihilation of the Zen’in made her mom happy and proud.

I know the story very little just watch at surface lvl, her taking everyone out was just fire 🔥🔥🔥

She got everyone combat-capable plus her mom. The fact that the two other clans voted to demote the Zen'in means there must be *some* people left in it. Likely just the women, since even the men without a cursed technique were forced into the Kukuru unit and the only Akashi member of the family (someone with a technique who wasn't qualified to be in the Hei) we know of is Mai.

#SundayRundown So the Zen'in got exactly what they deserved, they not only saw Toji, who could have bodied them (as the eye/gravity guy mentioned), but saw a girl who could do the same and continued to abuse her. I fully suspect Toji wanted to wipe out the Zen'in clan, but his wife, his 'heart', stopped him. Maki lost her 'heart', so the Zen'in had to go. What's even more tragic/stupid is that Mai's technique would have been so useful. She had the power to create cursed tools, but because of her low cursed energy, she couldn't make more than bullets. If Maki died, or Mai's children had her technique, they could have armed the clan with weapons capable of bypassing Gojo's infinity, similar to Toji's inverted spear. A literal hard counter weapons printing machine, they literally gave up to be misogynistic. The clan literally fucked itself over in the long term because of their stupid beliefs.

Toji smiling down from heaven… yes toji made it to heaven somehow

Meh

I was not ready for this one at all XD From how I understood it I think you missed part of the significance of what Mai was saying about twins. Since they are viewed as the same being, things like their techniques and pacts are only half as effective as they should be if it only affects one of them (and likely halfed again if it actually does both). That said when Mai died Maki's pact goes into full effect which is what actually brought her to Toji's level, not just a grief power up (though certainly a huge motivating factor). Hypothetically if it had been Maki who died I imagine Mai's technique would scale up like beyond Momo's quirk in MHA, plus probably gaining her Domain Expansion.

#SundayRundown - Good on Chris for figuring out the reason Mai died is because she used her cursed technique, Contruction, to create the sword that her and Maki were holding in the creepy Basement. The sword is called the Split-Soul Katana and it’s an exact replica of the sword Toji used in Hidden Inventory, it allows you to bypass someone’s physical defense or cursed technique and literally cut someone’s Soul.

Wth?? I paid subscription just for this episode just for the video to be blurred out?? I can’t even read the dialogue to understand wht the ppl on the couch r talking about. On top of that! U guys don’t even bother posting the video here. I have to go to some other website platform and it’s GOD AWFUL. It keeps pausing randomly but the sound keeps going with a frozen image. I literally tried everything and watching on different devices. The problem is the website itself. I hate u guys. I can’t believe I fell for this scam!

#sundayrundown just a little explanation for the weed mai gave maki during her passing over. What plant did Mai give to Maki at the end? A. "The seed head of reeds (ashi)." This episode's subtitle: "Holding Reeds in the Beak (Ashi o Fukumu)." This is based on a certain legend. ✅ Source Material: The Legend of "The Goose Holding Reeds in Its Beak (Kari)" → During their long migration across the sea, geese, which are migratory birds, hold dried reed seed heads in their beaks as they fly. ・If they get tired over the sea, they float the reed on the water's surface ・They use it as a "foothold" to rest their wings ・In the end, they discard the reed and the bird alone takes to the sky once more ✅ The Parallel in This Story ・Goose (the bird that takes flight) = Maki ・Reed (the branch used as a foothold) = Mai ✅ The Intent Behind the Symbolism Mai offered her own life as the "foothold (reed)" for Maki to cross the stormy seas of the jujutsu world. The act of handing over the reed in the mental world is Mai's dying wish itself: "Use me as a stepping stone, and you go on ahead."

My Goat Toji Zenin has been mentioned in every episode of S3. Making this a 5 episode streak as he was also mentioned in the S2 finale lol.

I think it’s funny that despite Noaya being who he is this whole thing with Maki and Mai was never just about them being women, just that they’re weak. Remember this is the same clan that deemed Toji as garbage because he had no cursed energy therefore no jujutsu sorcery even though we’ve seen him go toe to toe with two of the more powerful characters at that time we saw him in action. Had he been more motivated like Maki he could’ve eradicated the clan as well, but he let them beat him down while Maki stood firm in what she put her mind into doing. Anyway Maki and Toji are goats the Zen’in are bums just like the Uchiha

Toji could have wiped out the Zen’in just like Gojo could have wiped out the Jujutsu higher-ups. The Zen’in lived and died by Toji’s whims. And now Maki awakened that same level of power. But her heart was killed so her whim was to accomplish her sister’s final wish: destroy it all. Notice a pattern between these incredibly strong characters? They all hate the traditional higher-ups and all have the power to attain freedom from their shackles. It’s also the height of irony that Naoya endeavored to reach Toji’s level, only for Maki, a woman to whom he looked down upon, to become the new Toji. All Naoya’s misogyny got him is an early grave. Gotta love it 😏

Ren Davis

If you saw the earlier comment I made about Ranta (floating eye paralyzing dude) then please forget it. It was nothing but Zen’in propaganda that managed to worm its way into my mind and corrupt my soul 😭 In all seriousness, it was a fake Gege quote that has been circulating. Sorry for spreading it 😅 Ranta was indeed polite and nice to those above and below him, but he was still an opp against Maki. Nuff said.

Maki still has 0 curse energy basically her heavenly pact wasnt complete because jujutsu world view twins as 1 person & mai had intention in becoming strong so she decided take herself off the map so the heavenly pact can be complete
