Navi, Chris, Pat and Suraj present their review and reaction to season 4 episode 5 of The Sopranos, "Pie-O-My," created by David Chase. In Episode 5, Tony (James Gandolfini) offers advice to Ralphie (Joe Pantoliano) who recently acquired a race horse. When the horse starts winning, Ralphie gives more and more responsibility to Tony. Meanwhile, Janice (Aida Turturro) makes her move on Bobby (Steve Schirripa) by offering to help more and more around the house and with the kids. In an effort to get things back to normal, she encourages Bobby to return to work for Uncle Junior (Dominic Chianese) who continues his RICO trial. #SundayRundown Is Janice the new Livia? She's kind and new age on the surface, but there is a Soprano maliciousness below. On the inside, she's hard as fuck, and she will end you if you cross her. Bobby was definitely my favorite character back in the day because he appeared too pure for Janice and the mob.

Just a heads up Ralphie is a convicted criminal with ties to organized crime he can't owe a race horse or a casino or anything dealing with gambling lol so his maid is his front person

The scene with angie's dog wasn't really implying that tony would hit the dog or was threatening to (i mean he would probably just threaten angie herself or break more stuff), more conveying that angie is so terrified and may think that from the outside. she isn't present in tony's therapy sessions where he's crying over ducks while thinking crying is unmanly. this episode does a good job of portraying how temporary comforts don't really solve any profound issues any of these character have. but at the same time the characters can still appreciate small organic moments, like at the end with the horse and goat (the setting was even set up like a small sanctuary in the rain). same thing with bobby, even if we think janice may have ulterior motives, bobby is genuinely getting some sort of comfort and support even if it doesn't instantly heal his grief.

Going to clear up the food situation the episode Bobby wife died they was talking about who bring food when because Bobby and his kids still needs to eat and man in their circle don't cook much and she took credit for carmela food because that shows she would be a good wife and she gave away Jojo food because Jojo is single and was there for the same reason yall might not remember Jojo husband was killed by Chris and Paulie in season one with the poison ivy he was Junior's right hand that Tony hit with the staple gun

Ok I'm going to clear up a few differences between Tony and Junior Tony is a lot smarter than Junior businesswise Tony stated that his had interest in the music business in season one that helped buy his house and since the end of season one for Junior trying to kill him he took all Junior businesses including the car thief ring he went to Italy about the high end card from season two the stock market scam Junior is getting just enough to pay bills and lawyer fees mostly but he gets to live a call himself boss of the family mostly because the sopranos family still respect him and Carmine the boss of New York respects Junior more than Tony because of the age and the fact Tony never did much jail time he's been smart and lucky like the dream that made him kill pussy or seeing the hitman in the mirror right before they shot him

Also you're right about Tony's laundering system currently he's employed on payroll at a big construction company that gets most if not all the big bid in New Jersey he's a part owner at the strip club, pork store,it was a slaughterhouse a Sanitation Company he has tons of legit business income

The FBI threatened Aid with 25 years in prison not 4-5 years. I understand where Chris is coming from when he says do the time, but from her perspective, she would be in prison during her prime years and wouldn't get out until middle age.

You guys are confusing Harpo with Richie Aprile's kid. Richie's kid was the dancer. We've never seen Janice's kid Harpo. From what we've heard so far, Harpo is homeless. That's why it's ironic and hilarious that Janice is lecturing Bobby about "living for your kids" since she probably hasn't seen her own kid in years and doesn't even know where he is.

#SundayRundown Adriana is in absolute hell here. The camera angle they use for her reaction shots to Tony's imagined conversation is fantastic ending with the tight close up on her face. She's a bit clueless & naive so the FBI is using that to their advantage. To add insult to injury they're getting some laughs out of it too. We only see a little of it on screen, but I'm sure there's much more happening offscreen. Her dream of the club is no refuge either as it's being overrun by the crew & she can't even use her own office. Her story ending this episode with her shooting up (something she said she's never done) is just brutal.

#SundayRundown Junior & the courtroom artist is a tiny bit but it's hilarious. We know he's a pretty egotistical guy & him mean mugging that poor guy is hilarious. I'm guessing the possibility of getting murdered for an unflattering drawing was probably a hazard he never anticipated.

#SundayRundown Janice stealing food in her efforts to "help" Bobby has to be the pettiest trash behavior we've seen from her yet. Her brain is so fried that she thinks Bobby, a guy that probably has more than a few bodies under his belts, is the answer to her problems just because he's sad his wife died.

Silvio aka Steven Van Zandt aka "Little Steven" from the E Street Band was in a bad car accident in either his teens or 20's. He went through the windshield and suffered severe scalp lacerations. As a result, he always wears scarves on his head in public and when performing on stage. And he wore a wig for his entire run on the Sopranos.

#SundayRunDown (Pie-O- My) It's true Tony does have a love of Animals from the ducks in season 1 and the horse in season now and later a blank. But I don't know why the writers did not want any animals as pets Tony seems like the guy who would have 3 or 4 dogs in the house. Also you guys always comment about the food on the show fun fact all the food is real I was reading a vanity fair article and it was about Sex In The City show and they filmed there show on the same sound stage as the sopranos and the cast and crew would all line up at the Sopranos dining area for food it got so out of hand that sopranos director had to hire security to guard the food from the cast and crew of the sex and the city so that only the Sopranos cast could eat it and use it for the shownI will post the link to the article if I can find it again but is was on Reddit.

I love how angry you guys are at the FBI here. Working to take down a very large criminal organization that traffics women and drugs, steals anything not nailed down, and murders without compunction, both their own people and innocents. The mafia was beyond huge even in the 80’s and if the FBI and related law enforcement let up, there’s every reason to expect they’d start expanding again. Adriana is not some innocent in this and you need to lose those blinders.

Janice is worse than Livia (or at least more unlikeable than her). Livia was at least kinda funny at moments. Janice just sucks literally everytime she's on screen.

two things can be true at the same time. this show was never about "the good guys vs the bad guys." it also shows that at the end of the day. fbi agents are just doing their jobs. and they'll do almost anything to get the job done regardless of whom it affects.
