#SundayRundown Lots of interesting character beats in this episode. Jake's jealous is a first. An even bigger one is Rosa opening up & showing some vulnerability for the first time in the series. Holt might be the MVP of the episode though. His repeated use of the word kwazy is a great gag. My favorite joke though is him shutting down Jake's robot joke by saying his software is due for an exuberance upgrade.

Meh

This is going to turn out longer than I want and not sure I can even say it right for the "will they/won't they" trope I think it's more persistant in Sitcoms because the nature of the story becomes stale much quicker without it. With most forms of drama you're ultimately more focused on resolving a problem i.e will they survive/escape/avenge/get away with whatever the scenario is and along the way the audience can be more engaged with the general condition/politcs of the world so much that romance specifcally can be disregarded if other things are balanced well enough. In comedy the point is really to tell the jokes so you've got your setting but to the extent that the story is progressing the focus is almost purely the relationships of the characters. While you could also always just make the romantic stuff not focus on the prime cast, again it's COMEDY so is it really funny if you just ignore that. Even if yes I don't think it can go for long before getting really boring.

You hit the real nail on the head. Sitcoms are not only longer but the type of stories being told are actually more limited because they NEED to chase laughs and keep the characters and even relationships, relatively more lighthearted. Sure it’s technically slice of life, but you’ll notice a lot of sitcom plotlines, not too dissimilar to soap operas tend the recycle similar types of storylines in a different package. They’ll never have ross from friends start cooking meth, or jake here, start playing deep political games. Sitcoms are generally limited on stakes so a will they won’t they is an easy one to lean into when they’re limited on settings and directions a story can go.
