Superman: The Animated Series | 2x25+26 Apokolips...Now! | Group Reaction

The Normies react to Superman: The Animated Series season 2 episode 25 and 26, "Apokolips...Now!" Chris, Suraj, Navi, Rana and Spidey give their review!! Episode 25: The Intergang and Bruno Mannheim return to Earth, but their actions are only a taste of what Darkseid has in store for Earth and Superman. Superman holds off swarms of Apokolips' demons with the help of officer, Dan Turpin. They struggle until they receive help from a New Genesis warrior, Orion. Orion is badly hurt, but recovers quickly at STAR Labs, where he explains Darkseid seeks to dominate Earth. Darkseid forces do in fact arrive, attacking an air force base, fought off by Superman, Orion and the SCU. Episode 26: Superman gets captured and tortured as the invasion of Earth begins. The people of Metropolis try to resist and fight back, even as Superman is paraded through the streets. With that as a morale boost and with the help of Turpin, Superman frees himself as a fleet of New Genesis ships arrive to stop Darkseid. Orion lets Darkseid know he would violate the peace treaty between New Genesis and Apokolips if he continues is aggression because the Highfather has placed Earth under his protection. Darkseid acquiesces, but out of spite vaporizes Dan Turpin, causing Superman to destroy an enemy tank in grief. Jack Kirby made a lot of iconic characters, Its sad that people know only the company who own these characters but not the creators/artists. a lot of early comic book artists/writers were screwed over. just look up bill finger basically created batman and died poor and unknown.

This is why this is my favorite iteration of Superman glad were watching so many episodes but did we skip Supergirl maybe I'm remembering wrong also RIP Dan was the Man but Darkseid is such a hater couldn't accept losing

#SundayRundown You've mentioned it before but I'm glad you gave further thoughts on the music. It's so cool that they have this massive orchestra supporting the show. Kristopher Carter is a key component of the DCAU going back to BTAS. He also worked on Teen Titans, Batman: The Brave & The Bold, Young Justice & so many others. His contributions to the industry are pretty remarkable.

“Lobo episodes aren’t integral to JL” Um actually *raises glasses* the Lobo episodes DO IN FACT give context to why certain thing(s) exists in Superman’s Fortrss of Solitude. Is it integral? Nope, not at all. However does it give context and explanation for the reason a certain setting exists in a certain episode of JL? Yes absolutely.

#sundayrundown “In the end the world really didn’t need a super man… just a brave one.” That’s one of my favourite quotes in any Superman media and it’s a perfect tribute to “King” Kirby. The man is deservedly a comic legend (several of his creations are at the funeral, as well as Bruce Timm), he died before the show started but they essentially turned Darkseid into this Superman’s big bad (originally in Kirby’s “4th World” books Orion is the hero/protagonist there) for this show. The music is on blast, as Shirley Walker seemed to have pulled out all the stops in this two parter. As for Darkseid’s voice the awesome Michael Ironside to me is just as iconic as Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and Clancy Brown. Maggie Sawyer is a lesbian as Navi assumes in the first part, but this is as far as they could acknowledge that back then. I’d love for you guys to watch/see Crank and (especially) Crank 2. 2/High Voltage is like a modern day exploitation movie, raw and unhinged. That could be as funny as Black Dynamite.

#SundayRundown Dan Turpin and the Metropolis police managed to hold off an alien invasion, meanwhile the Gotham police can't handle one single goddamn clown crime boss. The guy who Suraj thought was "Psycho-Pirate" is Mr. Miracle. You guys asked who the other baby was who was traded to Darkseid, well that's him, Mr. Miracle aka Scott Free. He escaped from Apokolips when he was young, so Darkseid lost his biological son Orion, and lost his adopted son Mr. Miracle. So in the end Highfather got both those kids.

#SundayRundown Glad that yall picked up that Maggie was gay. You'd be surprised how many people miss it. She was actually DC's first lesbian character, debuting in '88. In the comics she eventually moves to Gotham and famously got engaged to Batwoman. Yall guys didn't know them at the time but Turpin and Sawyer were both in the DCAMU Death of Superman movie. They were in the opening where they're trying to arrest Mannheim and Intergang.

Maggie is also one of the main characters in the “Gotham Central” where takes over the GCPD after Gordon retires, amazing series.
