I may be wrong but, while OVA does indeed stand for "original video animation", most times (like in this case, and the various AoT examples you've mentioned) they are adapting official source material. The main thing about OVAs is that they didn't get a TV release, and are meant to end up directly in the hands of the viewers (home release). The events of this episode are straight up the adaptation of a bonus chapter drawn by Horikoshi himself, so it's all 100% manga canon.

Yes it’s suraj being overconfidently wrong on something again, it is an extra chapter of the manga they cover for this episode.

Lmao so many glow ups now, damn Mina got that wagon on her and ochacos ass is bigger than her shoulders, but why they gotta do my boy shoto like that. They gave him such a fuck ass haircut now that he’s growing up looking more like endeavor and actually getting hot, guess they had to nerf him somehow.

If you want romance, you must watch romance. It's not the main thing in shounen most of the time. It's mostly men writing it (romance will be touched on) but for actual romance, you have to watch stuff written by women. Inu Yasha is a shounen written by a woman and the romance is there, same with Fullmetal Alchemist. For even more, gotta go shoujo. Now, when it comes to public displays of affection? Most definitely not! Especially not in a shounen. This handhold with Midorya and Uraraka is just fine for the Japanese audience, they've said as much. If you want more, go read some doujin!

Yeah people dont seem to see the correlation that this just isnt that kind of show even with the hints throughout the series. Horikoshi did everything to say they are gonna be a couple for a Shonen, especially this episode.

@PurportedGrey Yeah. It's really cultural. If you think about it, American made media will dive straight into romance no matter the genre. Even if it's action, it will dive in and you will get kissing early on. But its just not like that for Japanese media, especially anything created by Japanese men. It simmers in the background. Heck, I remember back in the day watching a live action Japanese television drama that was about basketball with a romance in it and the fact that the leads (guy and gal) kissed so deeply and passionately in a certain episode had everyone talking! It was such a huge thing because despite it being part romantic drama, that kind of deep kiss isn't usual. That's just how it is in Japan, despite what we see online with all the hentai and such.

Suraj is right about what an anime OVA is, but this isn’t actually an OVA it’s a special. It’s the final chapter of the manga, and it didn’t release alongside the regular chapters. Instead, it was included later as an extra chapter in the physical manga release. So rather than incorporating it into the final season, they ended up releasing it separately as a special episode. And it is fully Canon.

As others have said, this isn’t an OVA, it’s adaptation of a canon chapter that was released with the final volume. It was just given a special release, rather then airing with the final season. And this isn’t the last of it, there’s going to be a special short releasing this summer that will be adapting a one shot released in the final fan book. It focuses on Eri! #SundayRundown

Also, Horikoshi said that he never gave romance a prominent focus because he knew if he did, it would be all the readers care about. And look what happened anyway… Imagine how bad it would’ve been if it was.

PurportedGrey

Isn’t that the one set about 8 or 9 months after this, where we get to see the final Top 10 rankings?

You guys should for sure check out vigilante. There 2 season out so far and it fun and wholesome.

PurportedGrey

Fixed it and got my answer.😅 Didn't realize how much of a spoiler that was.

After watching the YYH reactions, you can really hear the Yusuke come out of Kirashima's voice actor sometimes

I'm gla.\n D, you enjoyed the ending, but for me, it was kind of bittersweet since I fell off this show a long time ago, especially as treatment of the main character and how the show basically reinforces that idea that you can't be a hero without a quirk. Unless you have a lot of money in connection, so you can get a cool suit.
