Hot take: Carmela's dad is objectively in the right. From a financial perspective, one might argue that the property in question is primarily associated with Tony, given that Carmela does not appear to contribute financially to its upkeep.

It's been well over a decade since I've seen The Sopranos. I've been kind of keeping up with it, seeing little clips over the years, but never like this. So I didn't remember that Carmela's parents were the way they were. Seeing them like this kind of makes me feel bad for both her and Tony. They never really had a chance, did they?

Hard to watch this reaction, the amount of times you were getting distracted and having full on coversations about random things and missing half the dialogue was fairly annoying.

Fun facts for this episode: Rusty Millio the capo that has lunch with Angelo and Tony B. and advises Little Carmine is played by Frankie Valli the Jersey Boy himself. Very funny since Frankie was already mentioned in this universe by Tony and Sil last season during the Christopher Columbus episode. Lots of old school iconic film and TV references in this one. The movie Junior is watching is La Dolce Vita (1960) a classic film directed by none other than Federico Fellini. And Tony B is doing an impression almost word for word of Jackie Gleason in a scene from Mama Loves Mambo, an episode of The Honeymooners, Gleason's hit sitcom from the 50s.

I'll throw you guys a pool party. I'll rent the place, get some catering, you can invite all your internet friends. Nothing weird or awkward about that. =)

It was Johnny Sack not Little Carmine that had Lorraine and her man Jason killed because she never stopped kicking up a percentage of her action to Little Carmine. She was Carmine's second cousin, this is why Rusty and Angelo ask Tony B to whack out Joey Peeps, because Joey is John's protege.

Italian American lurker here. Just wanted to say this show is dead accurate about italian american insecurities. One of my cousins was darker and some shitty aunt was mad that she looked "mexican". The dinner scene seasons ago where they hype up italian inventors on christopher columbus day literally happened to me. My mom's side of the family definitely saw my dad's side as gavones. Oh and the episode about italy is perfect, so many americans like to larp as cultured italians but know nothing about real italians and it was kinda embarrassing frankly when my family and I actually went. They definitely looked at us like the cheeseburger eaters we are.

Tonko

Oh and my dad is super racist but is a MASSIVE criminal who steals things from everybody constantly. That felt worth adding.

20:39 Why did Navi seem so mad at that???

don't think there was a continuity error with the hands in the pool. it looks like they just did a jump cut. you can see the hands go down, and then an underwater shot, and then it jumps to his hand on her face, where there's a small jump cut. also with junior not being invited, remember ever since the first season, carmela has been very cold towards junior after he tried to kill tony. it's not always in the limelight but it's a consistency in their relationship that she didn't forgive junior while tony did. she even obliquely mentions it here: "you don't know the half".

#SundayRunDown: When the hell is Rana coming back? It always feels incomplete when any one of ye is missing :)

#SundayRundown You didn't clock it but they refer to Phil Leotardo with a nickname as the Shah of Iran. The actor Frank Vincent bears a passing resemblance to the Shah. In the previous episode when Tony chases Phil "Rock the Casbah" by The Clash plays. The song is about ban on Western music in a strict religious nation. That very thing happened in 1979 as part of The Iranian revolution when the Shah was overthrown.

SunnydaleClassof99

#SundayRundown Junior is watching the Federico Fellini classic La Dolce Vita. It's possible that he doesn't understand it because of his memory problems. Another interpretation is a character that has a lot of his identity & pride that's tied into being Italian not understanding an Italian art film. It's something we've seen before on the show with the disconnect between Italian Americans & Italians. So when Junior is confronted with a real piece of Italian culture it goes completely over his head.

💯 Angie knew they killed Puss. She was at the house when they left with him. If it had been an unsanctioned hit, they wouldn’t be running the witness protection line and if he were in witness protection, Tony wouldn’t be supporting her (and the family would be with him anyway). The money she is or was getting from Tony is to keep her in line. She also hated him, which doubtless makes it easier on her

#SundayRundown Tony B is a philosopher who would have thrived had he been born into a different family. But his flaws, family, and history make it hard to function in society. If you notice, he's more well-read and wise than even Tony S. Tony S is more street-smart, but Tony B is more intelligent.

Sean Carleton

I miss having a pool in the backyard. We threw my mom's lawyer friend in wearing his work suit and dress shoes when we were kids. You know the dude had millions, because he wasn't even mad.

Sean Carleton

There are layers to this Sopranos shit. The Clash is also my fave band.

Has to be the finale. Rana loves The Sopranos, but she probably doesn't want to give anything away when reacting to an upcoming scene.

Just a heads up the guy Tony B killed isn't a made man which is why they did it also Tony B wasn't made man before going to prison which is why he wants a push up the ladder and why he has money problems also lastly Phil is a captain and even if he did kill Lorraine killing him would mean all out war in New York and nobody would be safe

Kwame James

Small correction they did say he is in witness protection and witness protection just means he's gone and don't ask about it
