I forgot all about Purgatory...,

Stan the Man

They need access to his internal organs for repair. A bullet hole is the ENTRY wound. When it enters your body it tears everything up. So they open you up for access. So His wound is from his the surgeons opening him up. This was 20 years ago. Now they’d do things more laparoscopic(camera tech has gotten so small thanks to smart phones driving innovation)but in an emergency they will break ribs to access your heart if need be. Shit my dad wasn’t even shot when he had his gallbladder removed and his scar was HUGE. The only inaccurate thing is they wouldn’t have any family not dressed in scrubs and masks when they access his wound for cleaning and inspection.

I think the one reactor picked up on the “this doesn’t follow usual dream logic”. What Tony is going thru is not a dream. It is not a hallucination. Keep in mind the supernatural kinda exists in this show. Paulie’s Psychic, Pussy’s ghost at Livia’s wake. And…oh wait. That hasn’t happened yet. You’ll see. But it’s interesting the imagery Tony saw on that TV at the bar. A raging Fire(but also what’s burning? A bush. Hmm). Religious symbolism is all over the place in this episode. The TV talks about Sin maybe being real. And then there’s that beacon out there in the distance on the horizon. Beacons can show us the way home. The ending of this episode is one of my favourites. Tony, lost, picking up the phone to call home. While that beacon, that light, calls to him. All while that wonderful song “When it’s Cold I’d like to die” plays hauntingly in the background. Also shout out to Edie Falco. Edie not getting an Emmy nomination for this episode, forget about winning she wasn’t even nominated, how does that happen? She is so good here. It’s crazy to think how there are these amazing actors out there and yet even showing her talent on a show like The Sopranos she’s still thought of as a TV actor. Edie should be up there with Meryl Streep getting Oscar nominations but it just goes to show how hard the industry is. Next week will be fuckin Mayham.

Don't cut AJ any slack yall. He's exactly what you think he is: a spoiled kid with no common sense and gets to skate by in life because of who his dad is. Robert Iler does a great job as the character, because he infuriated me (and many others) to no end lol.

Stan the Man

Whenever I think about hating on AJ I remember two things. One is the image of him in season 1 when he realizes who and what is dad really is. AJ literally standing at a gravesite watching his dad surrounded by his other family, realizing his hero, his dad, is probably a murderous thug. The other thing I think about is the old psychiatrist Carmela talked to in season 3 where he tells her straight up to leave Tony and “take only the children, what’s left of them”. And when you think about AJ, his story, where it’s been and where it goes. Yes he’s a snotty spoiled kid. But I can’t help but feel for him sometimes.

#SundayRundown Rosalie Aprile might be one of the strongest characters on the show. She's been through so much losing Jackie & Jackie Jr plus being in a relationship with Ralphie. Despite all the tragedy she remains level headed, compassionate & kind. When Carmella snaps at her she takes it completely in stride & calmly explains she's speaking from a place of experience & concern.

#SundayRundown Weekly reminder that Deadwood should be considered as a replacement for The Sopranos.

Plus overall while Meadow is more likeable, I kinda dislike her more. Because unlike AJ, she's smart enough to see the BS but goes along with it anyway.

Michael Colorado

He evolves from a rebellious, underachieving teen into a depressed, existentialist young adult. AJ feels like the tool that he is; he explodes at Meadow over a non-issue. He expresses anger at his family, his uncle, and the resulting embarrassment of the situation before he lashes out at the reporters. "Hey, fuck you!" AJ visits his mom to protest that he's not being utilized. He plays the pity card so well. He sounds like someone we know. IF Tony only beat him up a couple of times, not hard, but smacked him around for the stupid shit he did, like vandalizing the pool, he would be better off, like how this video of Russel Peters says to handle it https://youtu.be/VWxwTZMYWTE?si=-aJxpsS9jHlkkqeF

BindingofNack

Suraj: "That man is from Lost! *quotes exact episode* Navi immediately after: "it is not great information to be passing around" I know she was speaking in context of the episode but coming right after Surajs Lost tick was just too good lol.

Daniel Bjork

The actress playing the woman Tony meets in his “dream” was on LOST. Can’t believe Suraj missed it…

Wes

True. Meadow kinda just falls in line. She’s clearly intelligent from a book smart standpoint, and understands what her dad does for a living pretty early on. And even though she and her parents have their differences and beliefs, she does love them and that bond is stronger than any conflicting feelings she may have about her father’s transgressions or her mother’s complicity in it all.

God, I love the Normies. Tony fighting for his life, Carmella and Meadow balling their eyes out. Normies: Heey, Masukaaaa! Lol

Big facts Stan blame the parents for raising a spoiled child Tony and Carmela never really gave a fuck about AJ

atomicdog

Kinda wild seeing a dysfunctional family that disincentivizes hard work, displays constant emotional repression, hides facts about their lifestyle, puts an over emphasis on status and romanticizes violence and mob-life and being like- oh yeah, I mean, if they just BEAT him maybe he'd be in a better space. That's crazy man. I think AJ would'a turned out better if his dad wasn't Tony Soprano.
