Good episode for Aegon and Aemond especially their jealousy for each other.

I think this is where I tap out. I'm just getting to the point where I'm finding more to criticize than enjoy, and I'd rather stop watching before I become a full-time hate watcher. Something about this episode was just the straw that broke the camel's back for me, kind of like when a certain major character's son died in TWD. Hope the rest of y'all enjoy the ride to the end!

Cole is right about being the Realm's greatest warrior. He's already beaten Daemon before and in Fire and Blood he beat the breaks off of Harwin Strong ( Rhaenyra's bastards father).

Also I could be wrong but Jamie lanaster did mention his name in the original show.

Someone on Twitter said that the character of Alicent is like a Black Hole, being that any other character that shares a scene with her is immediately stripped of half their characterization and suddenly develops selective amnesia of the things Alicent has done and that has never been more apparent than this episode and her scenes with Mysaria. Mysaria is supposed to be an intelligent woman but she immediately became so stupid to even consider Alicent's offer because she should already know she can't trust Hightowers. Literally in the first season episode 9, Alicent orders Larys to burn down Mysaria's brothel, with the hope that Mysaria would be inside and it would kill her simply because she knew too much. Mysaria was able to escape and ran away in fear for her life and that's how she washed up on Dragonstone and met Rhaenrya in the first place, and she always knew it was the Hightowers who tried to kill her, even if she didn't know it was Alicent herself that gave the order. Once again selective amnesia when it comes to Alicent and anyone that shares a scene with her because Mysaria should have confronted her about that, not be easily manipulated by her, and using the bond between Daemon/Rhaenrya as the thing that will get Mysaria to start to question things also doesn't make sense because Rhaenrya herself already told Mysaria that her and Daemon are two sides of the same coin in episode 6 of last season, so Mysaria knows this, and at this point I can't tell if the writers are purposefully writing Alicent in this "Innocent Victim" way in the hopes that the audience would have forgotten the horrible shit she herself did without anyone telling her to, or they simply forgot their own writing in their own show. Both are very believable and easily plausible.

#SundayRundown I hate Criston Cole but I find it genuinely hilarious how he turned to Nihilism and is just waiting for death after being involved in one dragon fight. He completely shut down after the battle between Aegon, Aemond and Rhaenys and every scene of his afterwards has basically been him talking about how nothing matters and how he is ready to die, and I don't think it's meant to be funny but I can't help but die laughing at the stark change in this man before and after that battle.

Love the shirt change Chris. The GOAT manga!

Rando, I could write a book with how long the criticism list would be.😂 I'll try to make this short, but in the grand scheme, Ep.5 isn't bad. It's just more of the same problems that have dragged the show down since S2. Compared to S1, or hell GoT S1-4 and Kot7K this year, it's night and day. These last two seasons have been a 5-7/10 for me. Perfectly watchable, but nowhere near what they should be with this budget, scope, and source material. My biggest issue is that the show spends so much time on characters who aren't actually moving the war or even the story forward most of the time. Instead of strategy, politics, battles, and actions having consequences, we get scene after scene of people talking about what they're going to do. Ep.5 is basically all setup... after several episodes that were already setup. It also feels like HBO has adopted that Netflix-style writing where every other scene is reminding distracted viewers what happened, what someone's motivation is, or what's about to happen next, or like with Mysaria this episode explaing what a Master of Whispers was. Earlier Game of Thrones trusted the audience to keep up. House of the Dragon feels like it's constantly re-explaining itself instead of letting the story breathe. Ironically, Daeron, Ormund, and Criston were the highlights because they actually felt like they were advancing the story. Everyone else just feels like they're waiting for the plot to happen which is a legit common criticism of modern day writers the last 15 years. Then there's the pacing. Somehow it's both rushed and slow. Major events fly by, while invented storylines and repetitive conversations get stretched across multiple episodes. It all feels contrived, and not at all like the other 2 shows. My biggest criticism, though, is that there's no real sense of actions and consequences anymore. Characters rarely make bold decisions that permanently change the board. It feels like no one in the writers' room is thinking long-term, so the story ends up feeling reactive instead of naturally unfolding. That's really been the biggest issue with S2 and 3 as a whole. So I'd rather stop now and take a negative effect out of my daily life and continue to enjoy this franchise in other ways.

It's annoying to see no one listen to Daemon's suggestions. He served at one time or another in his brother' small council as Master of Coin, Master of Laws, Commander of the City Watch and fought and won so many battles for his side. Like so far, Daemon has suggested: firing Otto Hightower before Viserys married Alicent, for Rhaenys to kill all the greens at the coronation, attacking Vhagar with both Meleys and Caraxes, and killing Ormund and Daeron without offering surrender. Let's maybe hear him out!!!

Despite all of Daemon's faults and methods he has been spitting facts since the beginning of the series. His best suggestion was that Viserys could have avoided this whole mess by making Daemon his hand. They would have balanced each other out, with Daemon tempering Viserys's weakness and Viserys tempering Daemon's aggressiveness

Joffrey is the last son she had with harwin strong, rhaenyra and daemon have 2 other sons they had together.

Y’all got to lock in lol. Gwayne was telling Cole how he used to let ormund win bc he hated to lose. James Norton is such a good fucking actor man. Ormund will go down as an all time villain.
