Ok loads of people are gonna do it but might as well put this now. The Backrooms started out as a 4chan post in March of 2019. That basically described a picture of the yellow walls of an old furniture store in Wisconsin. The actually post talked about no clipping into the backrooms and that their might be something else in there. This sparked a wide spread community based off the premise, and loads of offshoots were made. This include Kane Parsons (Kane Pixels on Youtube) series on the Backrooms. His backrooms is DIFFERENT than the wiki, which is also different than the games. For instance Escape the Backrooms has 0 relation to the series and mostly takes ideas from the wiki. Kane Parsons series has his own lore which he has all uploaded onto his Youtube channel and plans on continuing the series actually after releasing an extended cut of the film on his channel. So TLDR, Kane Parsons Backrooms is not based off the game, rather the series he created based off the original idea from that 4chan post in 2019.

JayKGames

Also forgot to mention but when Kane was first approached by A24 for make a movie based off of his series, he was still in High School at the time. So this was planned for a while

Don't have much to say about this movie, it was great and it's great to see success for younger people like Kane Parsons and Curry Barker. Also totally unrelated but this week I got to see The Odyssey on the 70mm IMAX screen and it was one of the best movie experiences I've had! 🤩

Stefan

when is the aang movie

Phil

Finally!!!

GrayStark

Way too underrated. Kinda disappointing it doesn’t even seem to be on their radar.

Sickleweed

Ok Rana and Pat hasn't seen The Ring, please put that on your Halloween queue! OG Japanese version or American remake is fine. 😁 Also Spidey being spooked by the Danny Devito cutout is adorable.

VenturaInTheBaja

“Great” is doing some heavy lifting here. Jaws, Casablanca, citizen Kane, Jurassic park, titanic, the shining, are Great…. This is a satisfactory film with no payoff.

Nabeshin

Ok, commenting before I watch the reaction, because I just HAVE to say how hilarious it is that, aside from the existence of "Escape The Backrooms" video game, everything said in the intro is wrong. 😂😂😂 AFTER WATCHING First, reaction did NOT disappoint. Was worth the wait! 😁 Second, y'all should definitely react to the YouTube series. While this movie stands alone, it is also part of that story, and you guys would have fun with it (especially Pat & Rana 😆) Third, here's some fun trivia for y'all: *The recording in different languages is what they put on the golden records sent into space in 1977 to greet aliens who might pick them up. *They built 30,000 square feet of Backrooms for the film. Crew members got lost inside. *That fly that goes through the wall was an unpaid actor. It just showed up on set, and because it kept buzzing around, they decided to use it in the plot. *The way Cap'n Clark eats Clark is a visual reference to the famous painting "Saturn Devouring His Son" by Francisco Goya. https://crafthatchery.com/cdn/shop/files/SaturnDevouringHisSon-Store.jpg?v=1751416793 *Aside from his animated face, Cap'n Clark is played by a real person. Robert Bobroczkyi. The young Romanian giant who also played the offspring creature at the end of "Alien: Romulus". https://www.reddit.com/r/LV426/comments/1figi8h/so_this_is_how_they_did_it/

My new name (he/him)

I love watching Backrooms content on TikTok. It feels like lucid dreaming. I really enjoyed this reaction, especially Navi and Pat’s yells haha.

SnapGrapplePop

Not my type of film, but seeing Pat trying to jump behind the couch is always a treat

DustD

Where this Backroom based off video game coming from? I heard blind wave also say it. But I never heard anyone talking as if the movie are based off video game, not even the fans of said video game. Is a creepypasta become internet folklore. Is like saying slender man movie is based of video game. All the marketing is trying to tie the movie to the youtube series, every conversation about this movie on youtube is about how a youtuber maked in to the big hollywood. Where is this misinfo coming from? The backroom?

Stefan

mickey whole explination of the backrooms lore was wrong lol

"I AM A F#@KING ARCHITECT!!!" Oof, as I look over at my Bachelors of Architecture diploma I feel attacked. Plenty of people don't pursue their college majors later in life, there's no shame in that people. Anyway, I figure the Corporation ASync either kills Mary or hires her. If there's a sequel it could be cool seeing Mary again.

Shihi

#SundayRundown I'm only going to say that if there is a squeal, I want the scientist at the end to run into Mary's copy in the Backrooms. If the copy is even partly based around peoples memory of something then the scientist guy would remember her as someone knowledgeable of the Backrooms and who probably hates him. Thus the copy might even be capable of maneuvering the Backrooms. It's also probably why the copy of Clark was so monstrous. Async's scientists thought he was this mysterious figure who could maneuver the backrooms without issue, as well as dodge their traps. From their perspective, Clark's this creature who was so above even the scientists, it would seem terrifying. Them not realizing he's just a random guy who stumbled into this.

MyDude SnakePlisskin

Okay but like...why was this a movie? The fact that this was pulled into the mainstream sort of kills everything about it that made it cool and unique. Analogue horror, creepypastas, horror ARGs, these things are only cool and effective when they stay as what they originally were: community campfire stories all done online where no real answers are ever found. It belongs with SCP or Local 58 or other types of analog horror.

Benjamin Hunt

i don't think it's "heavy lifting" for someone's opinion to be that Backrooms is a better movie than Titanic. Nice use of a capital G for great though. Not everyone's positive experience for a film and their resulting estimation of it is based on a traditional payoff. It's fine that that's necessary for you, for others sometimes it's more compelling when it's ambiguous, depending on the nature of the movie. One is not the right or wrong opinion. You're going way too absolutist with your response here.

Katra

It amazes me how confidently wrong Mickey is about things at times.

VenturaInTheBaja

Your political correctness bores me. You think everyone’s opinions is of equal value and should matter? What Disney world are you living in? The whole idea of culture is choosing to hold certain values over other values… if everyone’s opinions are okay to have and should be respected then cannibalism is just a matter of taste apparently…. Benjamin, Backrooms isn’t great by any standard, it exists and has some creepy moments. For horror or thrillers it’s not even breaking top 50….

Darcey

Watching Mickey grow increasingly confident as he was being spectacularly wrong about virtually everything having to do with the property was literally lol. Mickey took his own advice and went onto Backrooms knowing as little as possible 🤣

Sage

Citizen Kane and Casablanca are a bore fest😂😂😭. It’s just film homework nothing enjoyable

GrayStark

Chill on Mickey yall He might quit again lmao

Twili

Go touch grass man

Tom B

I immediately had to see if other people were commenting the video game and the movie are two completely different things

Sage

Because people who watch movies wouldn’t give a shit otherwise…… you act like they just scrubbed the game off the internet forever

Sage

Fun fact: the same guy that played the big alien/human baby in Alien Romulus was the same guy that played giant captain clark . He’s 7’1
