#SundayRundown So when the original X-Men animated show was going on, Gambit's backstory was still being written. So the stuff with the Thieves and Assassins guilds was very shallow. He was just this secret prince of the Thieves guild who ran away from an arranged marriage with the leader of the Assassins guild. The plotline was shallow and was cleaned up in like an episode or two. Candra/X-Ternal was shown to be this god like figure empowering the two sides, but again, the lore was so shallow nothing came from it. It's been more than 30 years since then and a LOT of lore has been added to Gambit, so yeah, evil him could 100% go toe to toe against Xavier in a mental battle. Gambit is broken if all the limiters are taken off. The fact most people think he's equivalent to Rex Splode is laughable at best and saddening at worst. Omega Level Gambit once destroyed the earth by accident, he is that powerful.

Possessed Gambit and his Assassins/Thieves Guild was really cool as villains. So far, this season has been interesting with its drama and action.

Guys, remember when Kang the Conqueror was fleeing the scene after Nur became Apocalypse. He was talking to a woman and he said that she had a role to play and that something “external” was needed…

I still think Mother Askani is an old Rachel Summers, Scott and Jeans other kid who’s extraordinarily powerful. She clearly had some Phoenix in her you could see it in her pupils, the flaming aesthetic to her powers, the ability to send the X-men both to the far future and the far past. It feels like the most obvious choice with what’s given I feel but who knows

Her design is a real combination of Storm and Forge though, she told Storm she had seen her conjure solar storms before, and she talks like her too (all poetic and mystical). Didn’t she describe her powers as something to do with the winds of time?

Step B.

Is it though? I don't really see it at all, other than her blue eyes I guess. I feel like if she was actually supposed to be their child she'd have darker skin tone since... ya know. Also her powers don't appear to be at all related to either Storm or Forge in any tangible way, but considering Graydon being powerless with his parents that's not that crazy. Her having seen Storm do stuff doesn't really mean that's her mom either and it also doesn't explain the phoenix symbolism they gave Mother Askani either it feels like they're hinting at it without saying it. I'm gonna look at her design again. Edit: DO NOT google Mother Askani LMAO. I now know the answer

She is an old Rachel Summers, which would've been an incredible storyline to have happen where Rachel brought Scott/Jean to meet Nathan in the future while she was secretly raising her younger brother from another timeline. Instead, we got shit all with that cliffhanger from last season, the Summer's storyline would've been epic and emotional had it played out, Jean/Scott so worried about Nathan while they had another child unknown to them beside them the entire time.
