Hal hearing John talk shit about him as a Lantern and then immediately proving to him why he's No. 1 and jumping out of the car again was hilarious. Hal might just be my favourite DCU character right now.

I really love this episode just for John and Hal slightly bonding, despite the surprise car crash at the end. If they weren't concerned over their GL position, they could be decent Super Friends.

Maybe it's just an issue for me, but on TheNormies website this episode doesn't feature the ability to pause, fast forward, change volume, etc. The first three episodes are all normal with no issues.

"Wouldn't you want to retire?" So fun fact, Green Lanterns CAN retire, but it can be difficult to go back to being a normal person. Your average Green Lantern spends years, if not decades, doing off world training, supporting alien cultures, and interacting with cosmic beings. Your approach to even your own culture would be off, as you might be a stranger to it. Furthermore, when you have a Lantern Ring, you age slower and heal faster. When you have that ring, the longer you hold it, the more powerful you become as you understand how to use it better. The rings are classified as one of the most powerful weapons in the galaxy simply because they don't really have a skill ceiling. If you have the Willpower and the imagination, you can do ANYTHING. So as you could imagine, giving up the ring is like giving up godhood. You're consigning yourself to die young, you're giving up godly powers, and you're now probably stuck on your home planet with knowledge you can't do anything with, as per the rules the Guardians made. It's no wonder most wear the rings until they die, it's all they know.

#SundayRundown I think Zoe is the Manhunter but the Guardian is the benefactor. The black portal tech in the Manhunter's storehouse is the same tech used to send John to the interview with Lianna (the Guardian). Notice all the people who are trying to get John and Hal away from Rushville: William from episode 2, Zoe comes to seduce John into going this episode, and then the first thing the Guardian asks John is why they're still in Rushville. Both Zoe and Lianna are constantly biasing John against Hal in every single scene they're in with him. Even the decoy Manhunter having a recording of John's conversation with the Guardian is odd: it could be surveillance, or Lianna could have just recorded the conversation. The Guardian killed Abin Sur because he was going to expose their connection to the Manhunters and stashed Zoe in Rushville to cover up their complicity in everything and continue some off the books machinations on this backwater planet. Just their bad luck that the ring chose someone who is nosy and defiant, a classic rogue cop uncovering the larger conspiracy of the institution-type story. They've taken measures to replace him with a more obedient soldier in John, but it has to be done quietly and away from Oa, in case Hal exposes the plot to the rest of the Corps. That's why they want John to take the ring in such a suss way. The wild card is Sinestro. He wants Hal to kill John and expose the conspiracy to the Guardians, which seems counter to Lianna's goals but does pit them against each other. The fact that Sinestro even knows about John is strange, who could have told him but the Guardian? That makes me wonder if the Guardian we're dealing with has gone rogue and is working with Sinestro, which could be another explanation for why she wants John take Hal's ring away from the other Guardians. That gets a little convoluted, but I'm firmly on the hill that the Guardian is the benefactor pulling all these strings.
