The Second Round of the Duel!" ---------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 121 Summary As Koza tries to stop the Rebel Army, both sides are once more fighting due to the intervention of Baroque Works. Vivi is thrown to her certain death when a fully recovered Luffy saves her and challenges Crocodile to a second round of the final battle, revealing that he has learned that he is weak against water.- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 122 Summary Luffy fights Crocodile with more success this time by using water, but is defeated after Crocodile dries up the ground. Meanwhile, the other Straw Hats hurry to locate the bomb before it goes off. Ahh man finally the appearance of the greatest Luffy of all time - Water Luffy! Also you actually heard Nico Robin's name earlier, Croc said it before he fought Luffy in the desert, however there was nobody there who knew of her like Cobra or the Marines to make it seem like her name was a big deal. But it is! As you can see she's quite the enigmatic character, she even laughs at Luffy's goofiness whilst Croc is deadly serious lmao. Although Croc himself also kind of indulges in it later, mostly by accident, by completely seriously referring to Luffy as "Water Luffy" lmfao. Lastly, words can't emphasise enough how much i love Luffy, especially his fighting style. Oda has said one of the reasons he gave him the ability of a rubber man was to make it so that Luffy can have funny and goofy fights and abilities and that he (Oda) could have fun drawing him, and I believe that transmits to the audience as well, he let's the audience breathe and relax and have fun with it all even during dire situations, it's a nice break from all the overly serious anime protagonists, especially at the time this was made. And the added bonus is that Luffy himself doesn't actually see his fighting style as ridiculous - as he said in this episode, he is always serious! And because he 100% believes that his moves will work, they DO work, no matter how silly they may seem. It is only limited by his imagination, and he has plenty of it!

People can say what they want, but Crocodile got aura. The man is still in my top 5 One Piece villains, just because of how cool he is. Even 1000+ chapters later.

A fan asked Oda how Crocodile deals with baths but also answers Suraj question if only seawater affects Devil Fruit users: Fan Question: Odacchi! Here's a question for you! Crocodile can't fight water because he's "sand," right? Then how does he bathe?! Does he at all?! That's filthy!! Do you bathe, Odacchi? by Crocodile's Mother Oda: First of all, let's discuss the problem of Devil Fruit users bathing themselves. People who have eaten a Devil Fruit are "hated" by the sea, and cannot swim. The "sea" here can refer to anything from rivers, pools and baths to any kind of standing water. On a worldwide level, they are all the "sea." When these people enter the water, not only can they not use their powers, they have trouble moving their bodies at all. They might be able to struggle a bit, but it wouldn't do much good. That's if their entire bodies are submerged in the "sea." With less than half the body or just the limbs, it gets easier. Also, rain and dripping water have no effect at all. Therefore, hip baths or showers are the most common choice. Now, in Crocodile's case, "water" is the weakness of his very powers, so his abilities are robbed even in the shower. But it's not like there are enemies around when you take a shower, so I'd bet he would take them even with his powers being blocked. Don't you think? ---And to answer your final question, about myself bathing. As it happens, I do bathe. Twice! In a year!

***SPOILERS! DON'T READ, SURAJ!*** This is actually why I was disappointed when the Gears started happening. Even though it shows Luffy's creativity, I still felt like it undermined the silly, improvised, ironic aspect of his fighting style, and became more like a typical shounen. "Well, we al know this portion of the fight doesn't matter, 'cause he hasn't used his power-up yet!"

I personally really like the Gears as it shows Luffy's creativity even more, BUT i do understand where you're coming from. Tbf it takes like 300 chapters/episodes to get to that point. At SOME point OP was always gonna go down that route so the fact that Oda held off on it that long is kinda impressive. And you could say Gear 5 returns to that somewhat, like yeah it's a transformation but he's used so many different things in it that it's kinda like him fighting in base form again just with even MORE freedom to express himself through his body during fights, it's him going fully back to his roots of silly fighting unlike say Gear 4 which has it's silliness to it as well (propelling his feet to fly, constantly bouncing all over the place, or when he ate all of Cracker's...crackers lol) but is probably a bit more "edgy". Gear 5 is basically base Luffy on steroids.

He's still number 1 for me even now (but that's also because of later things too, not just because of this arc lol).

I definitely see Gear 5 as sort of a return to form, and the crazy sakuga is a treat to watch. All the same, I would've still preferred if all these power-ups never happened, or remained more subtle, 'cause I loved early "One Piece" fights being about having to use your limited abilities to seek out some kind of unique solution to every problem, or even reaching the "next level" in an unexpected way; rather than always having a "next level" in your back pocket.

I was also trying to find the “AIRBALL!” and the “Look at you. High and dry.” from Crocodile after he beats Luffy at the end of this episode. But I can’t find them. 😩

Try as I might, I couldn't find Usopp going "These tunnels are aMAAAAAAZEing!" Tragic, since very soon, there will be no more 4Kids content to draw from. 😞

#SundayRundown #One Piece in regards to croc and other devil fruit users their entire bodies would have to be submerged to not be able to use their df power. Rain or dripping water doesn’t nullify df’s either With croc he’s able to get hit w water js bc of his specific df. And also pirates and the top marines are generally durable asl so a lot of ppl dont die even when they should. Pirates and marines are js basically superheroes in this world compared to the reg humans of the world
