#sundayrundown already watched the first 3 episodes going to try to make my comment as relevant as i can the song the guard was humming was sang by iroh in the OG avatar 🎶🎵 win-ter, spring, summer-and-fall 🎵🎶 man the animal combinations are better than EVER i saw a sheepdog-sheep that’s so fucking genius. self reminder to ask suraj about kimchi and microplastics okay i think my final edit is going to be about the decreasing bender population, i think possibly the earth is trying to build a defense for itself by reducing the number of benders because they are “siphoning” spirit energy and damaging the planet, that could be related to the calamities. i think that the government is taking advantage of the reduced number of benders to “escalate” the search of the avatar. which would be why they are require to be registered. because ultimately whatever world power is going to want to control/manipulate/use or even possibly kill the avatar.

Avatar is back and in fine form as always

2026-10-11 11:00 #SundayRundown # Avatar. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. I have faith in the story and characters because they've always done a fantastic job. But I am concerned for the animation, and the art style really isn't clicking with me, yet at least. I wish they got studio mir to do the series like the film, or got some talent from the past two shows. But looking at La Chouette Compagnie previous animated works, and these two episodes (now three). I'm not confident they can provide incredible fights scenes and smooth animation like the previous avatar shows. It might be an Invincible situation for me, where the story and characters are S tier, but the animation just isn't up to par unfortunately 😩 I really hope I'm proven wrong in the rest of the season.

I dig the mystery they are setting up and the characterization across the board is cool. The environments remind me of the artist Jean Giraud (aka Moebius) but with elements that also remind me of early Ghibli, particularly Naussica's Toxic Jungle and the Wastelands area of that world. Overall dig the animation and design. I would love to have seen a full season of animation on par with Avatar Aang but I very much doubt Paramount was willing to invest in animation at level of fidelity. Considering the history of the Avatar projects and how the suits seemed to undermine Korra's production and release, I am going to assume more fumbling from Ellison and the Skydance folks who couldn't even handle something as straight forward as a theatrical release for Avatar Aang. I'll just be happy if it stays consistent and each season doesn't feel like they are going to cancel it. Great reaction as usual and its cool to see the enthusiasm around the increased south Asian representation. With every iteration of this franchise the representation feels less superficial. I like Navi's idea about Nisha and Pavi possibly being manifestations of a sundered Avatar. Both of them being not just aesthetically different, but their personalities are certainly divergent. Then with the Cat-monkies having inverted coloration, looking almost like a cuddly Rava and Vaatu. There is going to be some play with that duality either as sundered whole being or that after Korra, the Avatar manifested in 2 beings to somehow cause a restoration of the old status quo between Rava and Vaatu's "balance". Rava and Vaatu can't exist without each other. I am pretty sure the end result of that was going to be the destruction of the world. At the end of Season 2 of Korra, Unalaq severed Korra from the line of Avatars but when Rava basically sacrificed itself so Korra would be able to fight Unavaatu, Korra disempowered vaatu, and that would restart the whole Rava/Vaatu cycles. Then Korra basically spent the next 2 seasons realizing that the same way she had to embrace rava and vaatu's reunification, she had to reconnect the terrestrial world to the spirit realm. We just don't know what happened back then that caused what we see in Seven Havens and that is really compelling to me anyways.

The avatar is back and this time we have twins!🥰🥰🥰

IMPORTANT NEWS: this morning avatar studios announced seven havens has been greenlit through book 4 and will continue the story of nisha and pavi ALSO a new animated avatar KURUK show got announced!!!!!

Ksweets

the kuruk show will be called wave of chaos!!!!

Jibby

The animation is awful. Deadass might drop the series just for that alone. Say what you want about Korra but that animation was the best it ever was. Even 2005 episodes of Avatar had better animation, smh disappointing.

Tim Ott

Honestly I like it. I don't disagree it's a downgrade of sorts but I don't think it's worse just different.

#sundayrundown i'm here for the Korra hate i don't care i'm enjoying this show so far it's doing the thing i wanted from korra post season 2 to do and i love that there will be new people getting into this series with a new avatar it's nice to go back to the old but we need to move forward i'm happy they weren't like more Aang or more Korra they went with something new

El hombre

I understand why people are concerned about the animation but personally, I’ve always loved the Avatar universe for the story and the incredible characters. I have a feeling the animation will get better eventually, just hang in there guys.

Andrew

Super excited for this series!

Cheesey1

oh my goodness this animation is borderline unwatchable

SnapGrapplePop

Really enjoying it from the first few episodes and I'm interested in where the story will go. The artwork is occasionally stunning but feels...flat(?) at times. It's tough. Current top tier animation is miles above this but then we're left waiting over 3 years between seasons like with Blue Eyed Samurai. Hopefully the less ambitious animation means a more reasonable turn around time for further series, but they'll need to hit the big moments well.

Tyler

I don't love the new animation style but I also don't mind it too much. I even like some of the choices they are making with the colors. But the actual animation sequences look so choppy at times. Scenes from 2005 in ATLA looked smoother than a lot of the bending animations in this new show. But aside from that I am very intrigued by the premise and I have not been more eager to see where the plot is going to go since ATLA so I will definitely be sticking around to see what comes next.

#SundayRundown I don’t think it’s Vaatu, that would be way too obvious. I’m liking the idea that each of the Seven Havens represents one of the seven chakras, and Ellora is the Root Chakra (also called Earth). The geometry symbol is probably a spirit representing that chakra, and unblocking them can reconnect the twins to the Avatar spirit. That goes back to the theme of each Avatar fixing the greatest mistake of their predecessor.

SUNDAY RUNDOWN MUST: What up chat. I started watching the Normies in 2020 with ATLA/TLOK so to see the couch full for 7 Havens is so awesome! I’m sure someone has already mentioned it but yes we are getting 4 BOOKS and 13 episodes each I’m assuming since the first two seasons are 13 episodes. It’s insane to me that Paramount was going to release all episodes at once from szns 1-2 originally. One of my professors used to work there before the merger and was fuming rip 😭 I was so hesitant about this given the trailer and I really hope they fix the animation bc online it’s getting called avatar: 7 frames 💀 I have to give them credit on the story tho. I like the animals, the worlds, the mentor, etc - but Jae is a bit forced rn. The twins are definitely going to be a Vaatu/Raava situation, but I would love it if they subvert our expectation and make Pavi the bad done and Nisha the good one Also I just wanna say the NORMIES directly asked for the twin avatar plot in one of the Korra reactions a long time ago so shoutout u guys for predicting the next ATLA series. Do you have any thoughts in the KURUK series announcement? I’m intrigued by this I hope they give us more waterbending lore bc in Korra it was super balanced across all elements and also I hope we get a fire avatar that is a royal simultaneously as a prequel.

SUNDAY RUNDOWN!! One subtle addition I really appreciate about this show already is that they used the EXACT theme for The White Lotus and Iroh - and they used a track from The Boiling Rock Part 2 in the cave/tunnel. It’s the track that plays when Zuko and the others try to escape on the gondola and Azula shows up and Zuko goes “that’s a problem. It’s my sister and her friend” . I thought that was a good choice and I love that they’re combining KORRA AND AANG. Nisha is basically Korra with her skill level and impulsiveness, whereas Pavi is like Aang with her wonder and innocence. Ofc don’t compare tho I’ll take it for what it is so hyped! Also love the intro - it’s a direct combination as it starts exactly like Korra’s with the theme but they do the world shot and the “dolly in pan up” with the twins at the end like they did with Aang in his intro revealing the title. Really interesting stuff! So many more thoughts but I don’t want to take away from the other comments rip

So idk if this a fucked up way at looking at this, but- Karthik keeps referring to everything going on as “the anomaly” and how the twins might be the key to fix it. This makes sense of it being an anomaly just for the sheer fact that their are two avatars, otherwise this would be impossible. Pavi and Nisha will be the key to fix and restore peace, harmony and balance to the whole world. They will fix the anomaly. But then that made me think.. once this anomaly is restored, and the spiritual energies are once again balanced- are one of the twins destined to die and become one with the other as there can only be 1 avatar..? Would that be the absolute final step for the world to achieve true balance and be restored back to order? The theme is the girls are stronger together. Once they TRULY become one, they will be the avatar. Idk why I caught myself thinking this and got a little sad. I pictured Nisha with Geet in the series finale grieving together. Since the promos focused heavily on Pavi’s avatarhood and we started out with her, I feel we will end with Nisha as the full fledged Pavi fused Avatar. Maybe in the final moments Ruhi tries to save Pavi and they go together, leaving Pavi with a piece of her sister. But they will be even more connected now through the avatar spirit. I feel this story is going to be a bittersweet tragedy, kinda like Arcane. I know it’s WAYY to early to start speculating. Just sharing a little thought I had.

Already better than speed ball run

Meh

One detail I'm not really sure is worth a distinction is that as far as I can tell I don't think thing are being "possesd" but there does seem to be a super hightened sense of fear with both that fire bending commander and the camadillo. So far neither has shown an action that would make me think "possesion". I'll put a warning here if you don't want to pick up fan theories on the show My theory right now is that they weren't born twins. They were born as one Avatar and some shit that may have actually been (or even resulted) the "cataclysm" actually divided them.

Smapdi

The animation is fine, it's just different. I didn't like it in the trailers, but seeing it in context was much better.

Phil

If you watch Avatar solely for the animation and fights then Maybe the show isn't for you. There's plenty of other shows you can watch that are more suited for you.

ChipHand Z

"Fix the animation" and it's literally just a distinct art style choice. This is the same type of argument that people give for why they don't like the Spiderverse movies. "why isn't the framerate higher??" They are not going to change the art direction of an entire show because some entitled brainlets without a sliver of artistic talent are whining about it on the internet. Please be so for real.

Unknown

I can’t wait to see them grow up, have a huge fight, go seperate ways for years, reunite and get a stronger bond than ever, and have a huge tag team fight moment against the main series antagonist

BindingofNack

There is absolutely no need to be so hostile and pretentious over a tv show. The person you're responding to gave a thoughtful and real response to what they watched, I'm sorry if you disagree with it but they endeavored to respect your interest so respect them in turn.

Phoenix Beifong

Why cant I watch, even though im premium...

SSJ VEGITO

The song that they discovered they both knew in EP 3 took 👏 me 👏 OUT 👏! I lost my mom this July, so when that scene played out I literally turned into a straight up snotty fkn MESS 😭❤️

The Normies

are you still having issues accessing the uncut link above? if so can you tell me what it says?

MyDude SnakePlisskin

They're going to make it out like Korra was actually the ultimate savior or something bullshit, but literally nothing they can do can make me forget that Korra got scores of people killed, completely altered the way the world worked for centuries, and completely obliterated the entire avatar cycle because she was too stubborn to listen to anyone older, wiser, and more experienced than her. She made the same mistake every time and trusted the villains over her own friends, family and mentor.

Phoenix Beifong

I was able to access it through the link. Thank you. And I cant wait for the next batch of reactions to ASH... SO MUCH HEART AND THE MYSTERY IS PEAK!

I don't really understand the hate on the animation. Seems like people dislike the style, because saying this is bad animation is pretty much objectively wrong. The choreography isn't as crazy as Korra, sure, but it's still pretty good. The backgrounds are the most beautiful they've ever been, and the CG is incorporated extremely well, to the point that you almost can't notice it. The new style gives a much more mystical feel, which I think is exactly the right direction for this show to go down, because I didn't want to see another tech upgrade after Korra. There's a lot of subtle detail put into backgrounds, impact frames, and subtle character animations that I think people are ignoring/missing which feels unfair. To me at least, it seems like it's just different and people dislike that, which is fine, but I won't accept that this is "bad animation" by any industry standards.
