love the episodes. my interpretation of the green knight(the poem and the movie) is largely analyzing the cyclical nature of… well nature… which is why he is the GREEN knight. he represents the expected consequences of your actions, and how there is a natural ebb and flow to energy, that in order to take you must also have the capacity to give. the ending is intentionally vague and widely debated online, so i don’t want to spoil anything but a great story to check out. Also i just enjoy getting to see another finn birthday, im pretty sure the other one we see is him turning 12 all the way back in season 1 or 2, so for him to be turning 17 at the end really means we’re about ready to close out the chapters of finns adolescence. very excited for you guys to see the finale (i assume we will have 1 more batch and then finale will probably be its own video).

Always loved that 'Marcy & Hunson' remembered the "Ghosts beat Vampires, rock-paper-scissors style" rule from the Season 2 finale.

Omg are we finishing the show next week?

I wonder if there's anything to gleam about rehabilitative justice in the Marcy in Hunson episode based on y'alls conversation. Like, yeah, it was croc tears at first, but after he got spiritually penitionaried by pepbut he had a legit heel turn and started to grow. Not saying people need punishment or incarceration to change, but giving people space and boundaries so that they can change? Maybe they will!

Matt

You guys are all almost a decade older than me. I started watching in like mid highschool

#SundayRundown Here are some fun facts: We’ve known about Uncle Gumbald ever since Season 2 of the show. He was specifically mentioned at the beginning of the episode “Susan Strong” by Bubblegum. The episode Seventeen and the concept of Fern as the “Green Knight” come from Arthurian Myth (as Chris mentioned), specifically from the tale called “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight”. This is the first time since the episode “Mystery Train” in Season 2 that we see Finn celebrating one of his birthdays, therefore Seventeen takes place exactly 4 years after Mystery Train. Similarly, the fact that Finn mistakes the Green Knight as one of Jake’s pranks… is also a reference to Mystery Train. Ice King calling Finn “Mr. Finn Mertens” as he rises from the big Finn cake is most definitely a reference to the famous “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” from Marilyn Monroe to John F. Kennedy. The episode Ring of Fire also has a couple fun references… Most notably… the Pirate Mr. Faidutti is also the same Pirate who saved Martin Mertens after his encounter with the Humans’s Guardian, when he ended up with a severe head injury that caused him to revert back to his con-man ways (this was seen in the Promo Art for the episode Min and Marty). In the episode Hunson and Marcy… we got introduced to the Night Sword, a sword that was actually foreshadowed in the dream sequence of the episode “The Orb”. The Ghost Ruffian saying that Vampires can’t hurt Ghosts is a reference to the episode “Heat Signature” from Season 2, where Marcy states it to Finn and Jake. This is also the First Time Hunson Abadeer has a full appearance in the show since the episode “Daddy’s Little Monster” from Season 4. He has been practically absent from the show for 188 episodes (which is a shame given that it must’ve been really fun for Olivia Olson to voice act alongside her real life dad Martin Olson, who voices Hunson).
