Rain

YES ITS HERE!! they used some flashback shit from the fillers... but they don't really mean much... just ignore them i guess!

zaphyre

No he’s been feeling like that since Tsunade woke him up. Nothing related to the fillers, but you guys should definitely watch them in your own time if you want! Also Salsake kills me every time

Omar

Best OP is here, Let's get a cup of water!!!

Alan

Sasuke was still in the hospital from the encounter with Itachi not because of the filler character.

spoiled milk

still salty at not getting the movie but this reaction was good

Edo

The movie has nothing to do with teh main plot. Its its own thing. And the filler has nothing to do with anything. You guys are good lol.

benny goods

Don't watch the movie. It's not relevant. This season is pure fighting and character development! It's great!

Frank Raddi

Saskue is being triggered by itachi.

benny goods

IT IS FILLER! THE FLASHBACK IS REALLY NOT RELEVANT!

Anonymous
>>28185267

Is that actually true? Because in the episode where Sakura visits Lee in the hospital they say Sasuke's been discharged, I was confused by this as well, was that filler?

Rain

NORMIES!! Sasuke wasn't exactly cool with naruto after waking up... if you remember before itachi came, sasuke was training and was contemplating on how he wasnt able to do anything in the gaara fight... meeting with itachi made his jealousy 10x worse... so just assume that he just woke up from the itachi beat down because the fillers kinda messed up the timeline

Chrisman148

Incorrect the 3rd Hokage explained earlier (Ik it was a while ago) that win or lose you may or may not become chunin it was to see who had the aptitude of a chunin not just being a strong fighter but a strong strategist and Shikamaru had both.

christopher aquino

i feel like they dont understand but fillers are just things that were not in the original material (manga) and were made to add time to the show (anime)

Jordan Richardson
>>28185036

Not really. The "filler" were really important as you saw Sasukes entire mental degregation in that arc, by seeing Naruto do things he couldnt even do. Like running on water, and using more powerful Jutsu.

Di

The filler was irrelevant. Sasuke was in the hospital because of the genjutsu itachi put him under when they were trying to capture naruto. Same thing with Kakashi. They just resumed to him being back in the hospital after the filler arc

Marcel Thimsen

when you get to shippuden please think about watching 3 episodes pr. week since there are 306 canon episodes and it will take almost 3 years to finish it if you just watch 2 episodes pr. week please think about :)

Anonymous

In the manga, Sasuke was only having flashbacks about the entire Itachi ordeal. And he was still in the hospital for that. For continuity reasons, the anime strewn in a flashback to the filler arc.

Holliday

You guys did the right thing to skip to this point. The filler are cool but they aren’t relevant to anything that happens in the story. It’s better to move past them because this is where the real fun begins

Jordan Richardson

The people who are saying the 102-106 filler is irrelevent have completey forgotten about the "filler". Because in regards to the Anime, it was the final catalyst to Sasukes mental degredation to this point. We literally see him watch naruto throughout the entire filler do things, that he never even thought was possible yet, and get more and more jealous to the final climactic fight where he felt worthless, while Naruto looked unstoppable. It connects directly to this. But I swear that term "filler" just causes people to tell the normies to rush through genuinely cool action scenes and development for the sake of rushing through the anime, skipping episodes that subconsciously were important, but we dismiss having already watched everything, ignoring hindsight. I dont know how that is fun for people.

Anonymous

Best opening of Naruto!

olof

The last time we saw sasuke he was in a hospital bed. The filler arc is irrelevant and so is the movie.

Rcl
>>28185530

They should watch the movies and certain filler fans react to. If it bothers some people like you maybe they can upload it when the manga stories are done

Rcl

People need to do a better job of explaining things to them.

Zee

The reason Shikamaru became a Chunin is because he impressed the judges and spectators the most with his planning and how he incorporated his jutsu. Within the Chunin Exams, you can win but if you don’t impress with your abilities, you’d could still remain a genin. Moving up in the tournament is just more chances to validate yourself and to the 3rd Hokage and other judges, that’s what Shikamaru did over people like Naruto, Neji, Temari or Shino.

Di
>>28186379

Or maybe we say the filler is irrelevant cuz it was🤔. If that IRRELEVANT 🙂flashback wasnt thrown in the episode it wouldn't cause all this confusion cuz it wasnt even needed. All the other examples of what was triggering sasuke was shown with the other flashbacks. If it wasnt needed in the manga to show how he was feeling it wasnt needed in the anime. Definitely not a must watch. You're just upset they skipped the arc. Sasuke was in the hospital before that arc and the filler arc set it up to go back to him being in the hospital once again. Irrelevant

Matthew Knell

Hope someone on the discord explains it better to them. That without that flashback it wouldnt be confusing. As sasuake was still in hospital for the itachi fight.

Micheal Hernandez

In the manga Naruto leaves w Jiraiya to find Tsunade to heal Sasuke, Kakashi, and Rock Lee after being attacked by the Akatsuki. Sasuke stays in the hospital from his fight w Itachi and all he does while he recovers is reflect on how Itachi only wanted Naruto and wasn’t interested in him. He also couldn’t get over the fact that Naruto was able to not only compete w Gaara but also beat him while he almost died. His anger is coming from him feeling inferior, or as Suraj put it, he realized he was a secondary character and that the show wasn’t named after him lolol the fillers were cool and you should watch them on the side but ultimately they don’t need to be watched to understand why he’s so upset.

MaaikeBrownie

The fights in the tournament of the Chunin exams are just meant to show off your skills. If you proof that you are ready you can become a Chunin. You don't have to win your match but if you do you will have more fights to show off your stuff.

Ji-pi Doyon

No worries, nothing really miss...it's some kinda cute race episode they help a team in the land of tea and they fight...and sasuke got hurt again while naruto was on top...In the manga, it's more introspection of Itachi's word and the Chunnin exam, more close to home...

Johnny Blue

Chunin selection isn't just about "winning" the exam, there's more to it than that. I believe the show explains it later so I won't go into detail.

Ji-pi Doyon

God damn Shikamaru looks god in this Chunnin uniform ! Cool design. Also i wonder which technique Shikaku will teach at that moment to Shikamaru ? I don't remember...

Eric Eno-Ibanga

Normies this is him just waking up from the Itachi beat down... I skipped all the fillers the first time I watched it, you're really not missing much

Johnny Blue

I knew 107 was going to be jarring for you guys regardless if you watched the filler or not. The movie doesn't explain Sasuke's bitterness, but it was supposed to harken back to the Zabuza arc where team 7 was working together fighting a common enemy.

STEAMY_DA_GOD

OMG, the comments need to stop saying Saucesuke was in hospital because of the Itachi fight, Saucesuke was healed before the "filler" arc, it was something that happened during that arc which caused Saucesuke to be back in hospital. Smh.

Ji-pi Doyon

Honestly, Shikamaru is the only who showed the skills of a Chunnin...a Chunnin can be a battle commander, which mean he is responsible of other shinobi...fighting skills are important, but not the desired characteristic in a Chunnin. As they said in the exam, in a mission, Naruto and even Neji would have failed because of the focus on themselves and nothing else...what good is a strong shinobi is all you team is killed ?

Narutofreak94

This is why I don't suggest skipping around. At least for minor filler arcs. I understand why you guys chose to but bleh. Hopefully you aren't too confused.

Justin Neason

Sasuke and Killua comin in with the big bro issues xD. But nahh, the reason Sasuke is so pissed has been fully shown in this ep, you don't really need anything else. Itachi, the man he's been training to kill this whole time told him he aint worth it and claimed that Naruto, the runt he's supposed to be better than is more worth his time. And that's justified because Naruto took out Gaara by himself, the one Sasuke was supposed to beat. WHen the sand kids first showed up, Naruto couldn't even deal with Kankuro and Temari (or so it seemed) and Sasuke immediately saw Gaara as his rival.. yet he could do nothing against him and Naruto pulled a CRAZY summoning/transformation jutsu while Sasuke got bodied. Remember how desperately he wanted to beat Garra? he went through all that with the curse mark, (and he probably considers the fact that he has it a failure, especially because he was frozen scared against Orochi and Naruto had to save him) just to get his fight cut short in the exams, and went after him so hard during the attack on the village just to lose and then get slapped around by his bro. He's had his pride attacked all types of ways.

kinky28
>>28186519

I think your right but I dont think I had anything to do with the spectators. It was just he impressed the judges, he showed a lot of tactical and strategic skill and also knew his own limits traits that are very important in a higher ranking officer. Sure the rest of the genin showed power and good technique but they didn't have the skills that would make them a better or more effective squad leader.

Kurumi

these comments...Jesus Christ there’s actually still people that don t understand what fillers are.. fillers never actually exist or take place during the story. Only purpose of it is to buy time for the animators to finish the next arc.So that memory never existed in the real story he only remember his fight with itachi & gaara.

Kurumi

Same goes for the movies. None of it is apart of the original story it’s just extra eye candy if you love the series. It shows off random characters to give them screen time or to tell an original story thought up by the animation studio and not the actual author of the series

Zawaar Shah

Sometimes Animes deviate away from the manga and hence may be considered a filler. But that doesn't mean they're irrelevant. Animes don't always follow the manga. Boruto is a perfect example that where every episode is officially canon even though most of the episodes never occurred in the manga. This supposed "filler" is a perfect example of what I'm saying as it contributed to fucking Sasuke up mentally (along with many other things too).

Kurumi

Doesn’t matter if it’s skipped or not. There are no important details to be told in it

Zee
>>28186952

They explained it during the Chunin arc a few times. But it’s been a while so it’s understandable they forgot.

Anonymous

Guys the filler isnt in the manga, that'why everyone says not to stress it, watching it is fine but not necessary

Zawaar Shah

ALSO, the movie ISN'T a summary of what has already happened. It was supposed to be watched BEFORE episode 107 only because Sasuke didn't have his jealousy thing going on then. That's about it.

Meijin_X
>>28187133

What’s there to be confused about? Sasuke got his ass beat for the 3rd time in a row. Simple

Ji-pi Doyon

NARUTO !!! SASUKE !!!....TETSUO !!! KANEDA !!!!....ICHIGO !!!! INOUE !!!! I can keep all day...the Naruto Sasuke sreaming start kinda here...

Dspade

Hey guys just a heads up! I recommend you really make an effort to avoid seeing the titles down the line because most of them are SUPER SPOILERS! And fans want to see your genuine reactions. We don’t like when you have an idea of what’s coming. It’s not as exciting. Jus sayin.

Zee

I forgot how dope the fight was 🔥🔥

Anonymous

The Chunin Exams were used to examine more than just strength it's about who can lead a squad when they go on a mission Shikamaru did that Naruto isn’t ready for that yet

Anonymous

If it's not directly from the manga it's most likely filler, it doesn't take away from the story, but not necessary

Zee
>>28187476

Yeah, 101 and movie 1 would’ve shown Team 7 as a unit before 107 when it goes to hell

Jordan Richardson
>>28187334

They do though. Anime canon is different from Manga Canon. That last "filler" arc directly shows us how much Naruto has improved over sasuke, and how it efects sasuke that he cant control his chakra as well as naruto anymore and be useless against someone that naruto can easily take down. It all was put into perspective in this final catalyst done DURING this "filler" arc.

Kurumi
>>28187437

Every boruto ep definitely isn’t cannon that’s why people hate it lmao they’ve had countless fillers already

Andrea C.

I love that the whole time they were just confused about what happened because they skipped the arc.

STEAMY_DA_GOD

Yo Genin, about Shikamaru's promotion. So without any doubt...all showed exceptional combat abilities, Shikamaru on the other hand was the one who showed leadership by planning his moves carefully and knowing when to keep on fighting or retreat for his or any of his comrades safety. That is something expected from a chunin. His strategic thinking and his composure during crisis earned him the promotion to chunin rank. Apart from him...no genin really did exceptional work apart from Naruto, now although Naruto won his match against Neji, there was no strategy, no real sign of someone worthy to lead a squad...the quickest summary for both of their gameplans during that match was just brute force, who was stronger than who. Now Naruto's fight against Gaara on the otherhand was a very exceptional moment that showed a lot of growth and maturity in Naruto, yeah Naruto really wanted to pummel Gaara and kick his ass but he also wanted to rescue Gaara from any more pain he was feeling emotionally because Naruto knew all about that kinda pain since they've been through pretty much the same shit. So where as Saucesuke, Kakashi, Guy etc saw Gaara as some troublesome kid who needs to be left alone...Naruto saw him as someone who needs rescuing from that dark place. It's a very big shame no one in the village apart from Saucesuke witnessed that fight.

Liam D

Guys the filler and movie have nothing to do with the plot, this is one of those rare instances were they try to interject the shitty useless filler into canon material. You didnt miss anything. Sasukes been in the hospital since being bodied by Itachi at the start of the last arc. Filler is filler, it doesn’t matter to the story.

Tispy Wombat

They explained that becoming a Chunin has more to do with maturity and being a good leader/strategist since Chunin basically become squad leaders for Genin. The 3rd Hokage said that it doesn't really matter if you win your fight, but winning and advancing into the finals would give you more chances to show what you can do.

Denickart

It's listed as filler because it wasn't in the manga. In the context of the manga, Sasuke's in the hospital and upset because of Itachi. In the context of the anime it's because of his fight with the filler villain who triggered him by talking about the Uchiha clan and how weak he was

Meijin_X

The most “important” thing to take from the filler is Sasuke gets his ass beat for the 3rd time in a row. The thing that makes it filler is that unlike garra and itachi, the dude that gave Sasuke his 3rd strike will never be mentioned again.

Anonymous

Hey just to clarify, those ARE fillers. They weren't written by masashi kishimoto who created the manga. They are not integral what should happen is he should still be recovering from itachi in the manga. What the studio decided to do was to create another arc to flesh out sasukes motive. They are not good at doing so since the itachi encounter + naruto gaara fight should be more than enough. The studio decided to integrate the memory of the filler into the canon episode but honestly coming from someones been a naruto fan since i was a kid, not worth.

Ryan Kosier

Remember the rules of the Chunin exam. It was NOT a "winner takes all tournament". In the words of Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi, the tournament was just a means for the candidates to show off their skills, it was possible that they ALL could be Chunin, or NONE of them. There was no penalty to the scoring for losing the fight. Though obviously winning means advancing to the next round and getting more opportunities to impress the judges. So it makes no difference that Shino and Naruto won, but Shikamaru lost. That wasnt the criteria the candidates were being judged on. Cool headedness, strategy, and skill were. Remember Chunin are squad leaders. Iruka Sensei is a Chunin. Naruto might be stronger than Shikamaru, but he definitely doesnt have better leadership qualities. That is why Shikamaru was the ONLY candidate in this last Chunin exam to have passed. Despite losing his fight.

Denickart
>>28186425

The last time THEY saw Sasuke was goofing off trying to remove Kakashis mask. Also he was at the coronation.

Denickart
>>28186477

Or not request for them to watch a specific filler episode knowing it will be jarring next episode

Dspade

Naruto relies on the nine tails chakra to bulldoze his way to victory while sustaining a lot of damage. On the other hand Shikamaru not only demonstrates intelligence but patience and cunning when facing Temari. This is what higher ups look for in choosing Chunin and Jounin.

Gezno

Something's called a filler if it didn't happen in the manga, which came out first.

Neal Cabanos

Please react to 102, at least. 😂😂😂

Anonymous

Don’t watch the filers and the movies guys , and sasuke was at the hospital because itachi not the filer

Zawaar Shah
>>28187924

Wrong. It doesn't matter how it happened in the manga if the anime doesn't follow it exactly the way it was written. Just think about it with a simple view. If a person were to see this episode without having read the manga, he or she would never think that Sasuke was in the hospital because of what Itachi did. The way this episode was animated suggests that Sasuke was in the hospital because of what happened in the past couple of episodes. They reinforce this by having him remember it.

Dspade

If y’all just act like the fillers never happened and Tsunade heals Sasukes mental trauma from tsukiyomi after weeks of being in the hospital, everything should make sense.

olof

As long as you prove yourself and show chunni-qualities you can be promoted. Shikamaru is a much better strategist and would be a better team leader than Naruto.

Vanessa Grijalva

The movie is pretty good and the filler arc 102-106 is actually my favorite filler arc and is one of the only ones that left an imprint in my brain since I was a kid. But whatever you guys end up doing is fine! I always love your reactions and opinions! Keep up the great work! <3

Kamina 1

No guys. Sasuke is in the hospital because Itachi (his brother) FUCKED HIM UP. This is literally suppose to pick up right after Tsunade healed him.

Arsalan

NARUTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Anonymous

I wanted to explain that last week because I knew these damned fillers will cause confusion sometimes. Like mentioned probably hundreds of times before, in canon Sasuke never left the hospital after Itachi and was triggered only by him. The anime prefers to ruin it completely and make Sasuke's trigger more shallow, brush Itachi's influence off and give it to some irrelevant guy. Ugh...

Shockspring

the only thing you missed in those 4 episode ark is that 2 seconds flashback you saw sasuke have with that other guy. NOTHING ELSE HAS RELEVANCE IN THE REAL ARK

NateRiver

1 - Sasuke is like that because of Naruto's development, he getting stronger and defeating Gaara while Sasuke couldn't do anything AND his meeting with Itachi, that showed him he was still too weak to defeat his brother. The filler arc adds nothing to it, it's just a little fight that Sasuke loses and Naruto wins against the enemy, that's what that flashback was about. 2 - the 3rd hokage said that the final exams was not just about winning or losing, but showing your habilities and strategies during a fight, that's what Shikamaru did more than the others.

SpeedyCat19

some of y'all in the comments are way too dramatic about this show. Like chill out a bit

D Gaijin

This is meant to be a direct continuation after sasuke got hurt by itachi but they have change a few things to fit with the fillers. Ultimately you do you, enjoy it your way and watch them if you want to, its all part of the show.

Redding Tier

Told ya'll that they shouldn't skip that 6 episode filler because they'd spend a large amount of the next canon episodes confused.

scottrager

LMAO i was waiting to see you guys have the confused look after listening to people tell you to skip content that gets referenced later

Anonymous

Nah, Sasuke's just pissed because Itachi got one over him AND because Naruto seems to be able to keep up with him. He feels like he isn't progressing fast enough. Remember 101 thru 106 never happened. Canonically, Sasuke has been in the hospital thinking about his fight with Itachi the whole time.

Anonymous

Ive seen some comments explaining this already, but the more the better. It is explained that it doesnt matter if you win or not in the chunnin exams. What matters is your skills as a shinobi and wether of not you have got what it takes to be a chunin. As mentioned you need to be a strategist as well.

Jo

How are literally all of you confused when it's a continuation of a couple episodes ago... Like... I can understand 1 person being confused... but the whole group? lol

Anonymous

Also you got confused with the continuation because you saw the kakashi mask filler, which never really happened. Sasuke never went out of the hospital, this is a direct continuation of his fight against itachi.

SirRyan

In the manga hes still in the hospital after the itachi fight. Idk why the anime flashes back to the filler arc.. cannon wise at this point sasuke is in the hospital after itachi fucked him up and naruto has just got back from the finding tsunade arc.

Rodney McDuffie

Yea you guys should of watch those last fillers it shows how sasuke got on this path, some fillers are vital to the story

Nuptup

Suraj: Sasuke break dancing out here Madara: you will hold my beer

George Byrd

I don’t think they understand how serious this moment is. This is literally the start of the whole plot of the show. The scene about the headband is so integral because it shows how Sasuke is starting to push away his friends and his village. This isn’t some temporary anger that will get resolved soon.

Karthig

Lol salsake. O just wait for shippuden salsake. Its gets way more well salsy

Anonymous

When in the show did they state that if you won a match in the finals of the chuunin tournament you become a chuunin?

Anonymous

I think the fillers are worth watching. Even if they have nothing to do with the story which is around half of the fillers, but it's still just really cool to watch.

Sally

i really hope you'll go back and watch the fillers on your own time, if only to judge for yourself if you consider them fillers. i have a feeling we have a similar understanding of what we consider filler. if you do not consider them filler at the end of it, then like me you see value in fillers that may not be part of the manga canon but are part of the anime canon and adds to their character and relationship developments. they often function as a conduit from one episode to the next. are there single, self-contained, and lighthearted fillers in the tone of 101 which may align more with what we consider filler? yes, and that long list comes after this arc. but 102-106 are not of that category. it is an original mini story arc with meaningful plot and fallout. people are ignoring the fact you are only watching the anime. you are not reading the manga and supplementing it with the anime, which is an entirely different experience. if you also read the manga the gap would not have felt as significant. in the manga, sasuke arrives at this hospital scene and mindset directly after meeting itachi and being healed by tsunade. in the anime, he arrives here AFTER the additional events of 102-106 as well and to understand this specific version you need to watch 102-106. in the anime it makes no narrative sense to jump from 101 to 107 and i think it is self-evident from how drastically different they are. whether manga canon and anime canon are of equal validity is a separate issue, and in my mind, a contention based on fallacy because it’s apples and oranges. but these fillers definitely have merit in my opinion.

Anonymous

Naruto movies are like DBZ movies they do nothing for the story.

cade-carter

the filler had no effect on this, filler is completely separate from the main show

Karthig

Reason only shikamaru got promoted despite giving up was displaying the maturity and thought process of a leader. Neji didnt because not only did he display unhealthy amount of bloodlust only thing he and naruto did was like win the fight of the night award. Epic brawl but above genin level you need to display leadership skills and thinking/tactics.

Sally

nahid, you’re right about the first movie chronologically taking place before this episode and arc. it’s one of the main reasons i advocated passionately for you all to see it before the start of this arc because your perception of the movie will be different if you watch it after this arc. you will be looking back at a different time before this arc and it will feel like a flashback adventure. the movie predates the seeming animosity and conflict you see here between naruto and sasuke. movies 2 and 3, on the other hand, take place after this arc so they should be watched after this arc if there is interest.

Sally

and suraj, the movie is definitely NOT a summary of the events thus far in the anime. i doubt many moviegoers would have paid to see a recap of the show when they could rewatch it at home lol. it is a completely original storyline that follows the timeline of the anime. the animation is traditionally hand drawn and gorgeous, the fights are amazing, the pacing is fast, the characters are unique, there is backstory and the plot is good. i really hope you’ll watch it as well if you have time. thank you for these two awesome reactions!! ❤️

Anonymous

Team 7 = most tragic team ever 😢😪

Mister_Momus

The Naruto movie is about as canon in Naruto as the Tree of Might or World’s Strongest are to DBZ.

Jak major

You guys should do triple uploads for this arc. If you can

Aadit Doshi

The Skipped Episodes are filler. In the Manga when Sasuke has a flash back it is off him getting beaten by itachi, and Naruto dominating Gaara. He is still in the hospital after his fight with itachi.

Jjop017

For anime that was adapted from a manga the term filler refers to an original anime only episode that wasn’t written in the manga. Generally they are used to buy the manga author time to draw the manga. One anime episode can take 2-3 chapters more to fill out content of a 20 minute episode, so it easy for an anime to catch up to the manga. Filler isn’t canon to the manga, but sometimes it gets referenced in the anime. For Naruto they decided to make a filler arc in between Tsunade arc and this new one you are watching now to give Kishi (manga author) time to draw out his manga. They decided they wanted to use Sasuke and Sakura in it. In the manga after Tsunade heals Sasuke is when he butts heads with Naruto over Naruto’s sudden growth and Itachi’s complete indifference to him. If the anime followed with that it would mean Sakura and Sasuke wouldn’t be used in the filler arc. They decided to modify the story a bit by having the filler arc take place after Tsunade healed Sasuke and have Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke go on a mission again for the filler arc (which again did not happen in the manga). Since the manga had the big Sasuke confronting Naruto in the hospital the studio knew they just had to have Sasuke get seriously injured again to go back to the hospital. They had the main antagonist of that filler arc crush Sasuke badly while Naruto defeated him. This just reinforces Sasuke’s fear and frustration at Naruto’s rapid growth and his own seemingly slow growth. His fear that if he cannot even keep up with Naruto that he will never be strong enough to kill Itachi. When people say that arc was filler they mean it didn’t happen in the manga and the story can be skipped. The only issue for you guys is that since the anime studio wanted Sasuke and Sakura in it they modified the story to have Sasuke not blow up after Tsunade healed him and instead had Sasuke seem cool only to get his ass handed to him and get sent back to the hospital again and have Naruto save the day. I hope that makes sense.

Karthig
>>28191427

They didnt. Also even if you were to assume it should be the eventual champion not anyone who wins at a certain stage.

Isaac Dominguez

You do not need the fillers look at it this way: when Tsunade healed Sasuke he woke up in this moment pissed and started all of this.. the filler will not add anything

Alextreme63

My favorite opening theme....now...it’s your turn

Brian Gerald Ford

The filler and movie only create more animosity between Naruto and Sasuke. While I think you guys should watch the movie the filler is really annoying since it leads to nothing. I also don't like the filler before this arc because it makes Sasuke's motivations this arc seem more selfish and dickish than I think it was meant to be.

Cory Hawks
>>28194182

That's exactly why they had Sasuke in the hospital again, because in the Manga this immediately starts after Tsnuade healed him.

Ez

These events are suppose to take place right after Tsunade heals everyone in the hospital, the filler is not connected to the main story at all it just was used to let the manga get ahead. To answer your question about the chunin exam, Sarutobi said before that even if you win you may not become a chunin. It doesn’t all have to be about power

Rcl
>>28194621

Let them watch the anime,.They aren’t reading the manga.

Gog
>>28185858

They do understand. It's just some filler are pretty good and actually add to characters background in general. It's ok to not like them, but to say they are all trash is generalization and tends to paint them in a false light.

Gog
>>28186018

He's actually not from the anime standpoint. He went back to the hospital because of the filler. Yeah it was a way to get back to the story without changing much from the manga.

klah

just think of the aftermath of the itachi fight as a regression of sasuke's character. 6-7 years to heal and then the wound got freshly reopened and he's lashing out. that's the simplest way to put it.

WallyOne

It literally shows why sasuke is mad with his flashbacks. Hes jealous of Naruto and feels beneath him. Cause even his brother wanted Naruto over him.

Gog
>>28189079

Yet he was at the coronation of the Fifth Hokage... Makes sense.

Gog

I love how people get triggered by filler episodes. It's like watching the series on a weekly basis again. The salt is real holy shit!

Shervell Jones

The Chunin exams are meant to test which ninja shows promise as a leader and not just a soldier. Shikamaru was promoted because he showed a level head under pressure and an insane amount of tactical prowess. Like they said, had that been a real mission, it would have been a success the moment Temari was caught.

Michael McKnight

So as I’m sure you’ve all read 100 times by this point, the filler didn’t matter. There was nothing in it that you missed. It operates the same way that episode of dragonball Z where Goku and Piccolo get their driver’s license, it essentially never really happened. In terms of the show this episode takes place right after Tsunade comes back to the village and heals Sasuke and Kakashi, that’s why he’s still in the hospital. From Sasuke’s point of view the events happened like this: Naruto showed him up when he fought Gaara, immediately followed by Itachi telling him that he was only there for Naruto and that Sasuke wasn’t worthy of facing him yet, then Sasuke was unconscious the entirety of the Tsunade retrieval arc, and now he’s awake. Filler episodes didn’t exist in that timeline, they were just added to allow the manga to get a little bit further ahead so the show would have more material to work with

Michael McKnight
>>28195992

Although it can also be confusing because sometimes the show will rewrote events so that the filler blends into the main story better. In this case they rewrote the story so that Sasuke left the hospital only to be messed up by another villain and be sent back to the hospital. But since that mini arc adds nothing and ends at the same exact place it started, it’s considered filler and skipable

Oty Safiry

This episode was supposed to take place basically right after Tsunade heals everyone, they had him get injured at end of the filler to get him back in the hospital again so he was where he was supposed to be.

Anonymous

you guys need to pay more attention to the episodes. Its not just like dragon ball where there are sweaty dudes throwing planets at each other... This anime is all about the story and character development. Just trying to help you guys out.

TheOneAndOni

Some of the movies are great, but none of them matter to the story at all until the canon movies toward the end of shippuden.

Karim kenneth baash

Those episodes are not im the manga. They added them to the show to extend the season. This way season's didn't end in the middle of different arcs. Sasuke was in the hospital because of what his brother did to him. That is what happened in the manga. I dont really understand why they added those episodes because it really is confusing. The movie was not part of the show.

Anonymous

All I'm going to say is, remember that headband thing. It will come up MUCH later on... That's all I will say for spoiler reasons.

Ghost_Troupe
>>28190785

No it doesn't. Sasuke goes down this path because of Itachi, not the filler. The filler literally never comes up again.

Ghost_Troupe
>>28192770

The first movie isn't canon in anyway. It's like a side story that doesn't really matter.

Ghost_Troupe
>>28195684

The problem with filler is that, it doesn't add to the show. All of Naruto's filler episodes are forgotten, and are never brought up again. Only in Shippuden are the filler episodes slightly canon.

Ghost_Troupe

I'd say watch 101 through 106 on your own, and you'll realize how useless any info given during those episodes are. Nothing from those episodes (or any filler episodes) will ever be referenced again. Shippuden fillers should be watched however.

Anonymous

The filler just featured a ninja named Aoi that Sasuke couldn't beat but that Naruto did. You could watch the that filler, but I would just do it on your own time. It's not that interesting.

DAINTHEMANE

Sasuke should be still in the hospital recovering from The Itachi fight. It's stuff like this why I've always felt the manga was superior to the anime.

Synd

honestly don't worry about the filler; think of it this way: in the manga Sasuke has just been in hospital all this time after Itachi fucked him up, the anime just added a few more scenes in the same vein of "Naruto is advancing further than me and I'm really emo about it". He's mostly butthurt about the fact that Naruto beat Gaara, and that Itachi was more interested in Naruto than him

Lawliet

This disrespect for Yondaime will never be forgiven. Don't forget that!

Adam Vialpando
>>28189707

Only minor confusion that is easily resolved. If they had watched those fillers that would be 2-3 weeks before getting back to the good stuff. This is much better.

Adam Vialpando
>>28189875

It gets referenced once then absolutely never again. I'd rather have minor confusion over a filler that has absolutely zero importance to the story than having to wait weeks for them to finish said boring filler.

Anonymous

I believe Shikamaru got promoted at that time just because of how much he controlled his fight and out smarted his opponent, which show his skills and ability to possibly lead others into battle. Although he surrendered be he claimed to be low on chakra all the higher ups took notice of the fact that if he did have more chakra how would have won, and if he would have been leading others since he controlled the fight the entire time and had his opponent playing into his traps, in a real life situation he would have taken minimal to no casualties for his mission. Conversely while Naruto won his match by any means necessary which is commendable he got totally dominated his entire fight , Which would've led to massive casualties if were to be leading troops in a real situation. A successful mission really gets damped or over looked if your whole team get wiped out or obliterated. Two of the current leaf Chunins are caught talking in the stands about this right after Shikamaru gives up in his fight.

David

It's here guys! The best arc in Naruto! All aboard the hypetrain, cho cho! Please start watching 3 episodes a week, the wait is killing me. :(

MojoJojoGojo

Tell me yall are dropping another episode this is the arc that changes it all

Spudsworth

I get the feeling that what they're considering a filler episode might be different from what the list they're using means by filler episode.

Anonymous

Also Normies, I understand you guys are using the knowledge yoiu have so far in the show but the 4th Hokage was ridiculously over powered, which is why he was chosen for the position. Anyway you'll learn more later in the show, and I can't wait to see the Normies react to the amazing stuff in Shippuden!

Ghost_Troupe
>>28191463

It's not really all that cool to watch because it's nothing really happening. The characters don't change in any meaningful way, and the world doesn't change either. It's just a random character doing randomly bad things, and then never being mentioned again.

Tom

This it guys , this is the arc where the boys become men !

Matthew Robertson

The movies aren't tied into the story. They are one-offs like normal movies. However, I do recommend you watch all 3 of them before you move onto Shippuden. I'd love to see your guys' reaction. They are definitely worth the watch. Also, even though if you win fights in the Chunin exams, that doesn't mean you'll become a Chunin. In the preliminary exams, Sarutobi said that even if you become victorious in the Chunin exams, that doesn't guarantee you the rank of Chunin. The Chunin exams are to show off the abilities of the ninja. If you win, it just means you have another opportunity to prove the judges that you are worthy of becoming one. You can become Chunin even if you lose the first round. They just want to see who uses their abilities to the greatest potential mixed in with intelligence. Shikamaru won the fight but lost the match against Temari. They are two different things. He outclassed her even though he gave up. They were hesitant about giving him the promotion, due to the fact that he is lazy and they weren't sure if he was willing to put in the effort. However, Shikamaru does have the traits of a Chunin. One of them is clarity, which is one of the reasons he got promoted. Clarity is something that people like Naruto and Neji don't have at the moment.

Anonymous

Normies! This episode and Sasuke waking up was supposed to be right after Tsunade healed him from the battle between Sasuke and Itachi. Just letting you know so you dont feel bad for missing some fillers!

Zee

I love how the comments are literally just people repeating the same things others have already said lol. I think they get it guys

Michael Diaz

I mean... it IS filler. He's in the hospital because of the last canon thing you saw. But because they added filler where he wasn't in the hospital, they had to make him get hurt again so he'd be in the hospital again to continue where the canon storyline left off. lmao

andrew calahan

you really dont need to watch the movie, its all filler

KevinFromNewYork

Feels like this week was wasted on these episodes

Michael Diaz

And this episode marks the beginning of the infamous "NARUTOOOO!! SASUKEEEE!!!" series. lmao

wwalker21

This is why I kinda didn’t want them to watch the filler. It kinda interrupts the flow of things. Fillers are completely unrelated.

Michael Diaz

The movie is not integral... but it's definitely not what Najid said.

KINGxRED248

the movies aren't canon until very late in shippuuden..but some people would like to see your reactions regardless of it being canon or not..for some reason people want you guys to speed thru the show.. there are some really good filler/movies that incorporate the side characters not just team 7 a big complaint from reaction channels after they finish the series is that not all the side characters did much..but they are included in most of the movies and a lot of the filler..i know a lot of us would appreciate movie reactions and maybe watch some of the filler on your own cause i know the anti-filler/manga content only crowd would go crazy if you did

Lazycloud

Naruto movies from my understanding are pretty much non-canon. You really just watch them for the animation quality and fight scenes. In the manga, this episode would pick up right after Tsunade healed Sasuke from that genjustu done by Itachi. Filler doesn’t add anything essential imo.

John
>>28201305

Thats because you don't know what filler is nobody should take you seriously

John

Lol I don't understand why people are voting to skip over the movie when as kids we all used to watch the movies at least me.. The people want you to rush through the series instead of actually enjoying the series.. Movie 1 and 3 have great moments 2 does as well but 1 and 3 are my favorite also never got through the entire 2nd movie till this day not bad but I just didnt for unknown reason.. The movies are great though so I just dont understand the votes to skip it just feels like you have a lot of part time Naruto fans that watch your videos and you can barely trust half the community with details.

John

Sorry ill be respectable this time, but uh 102-106 I said, due to watching episode 101 they will throw off the reaction to 107 now you did good by watching 101 but 102-106 gives more context for episode 107 I won't spoil what happens though if you want to watch 102-106 without doing it in reaction format I just recommend watching 102&106 tbh also there is a difference.. Between non canon and canon filler as ive said before

Redding Tier
>>28196944

No point in reminding them. This show never lets you forget anything with its thousands of flashbacks

Nova Prime

People complaining about people rushing them through the show like it’s not gonna take 2-3 years for them to finish already 🤦🏻‍♂️

Nova Prime

They should wait till Shippuden for fillers. Where they actually show characters backstories that matter.Part 1 is mostly(probably all trash fillers).

Anonymous

Was I the only one getting annoyed every time they mentioned not understanding why Sasuke is so angry and wishing they saw the fillers? Not annoyed at them obviously but at the studio who decided to add the filler in between tsunade arc and this arc. In the manga it made perfect sense and actually makes this upcoming arc even more impactful that sasuke would be bitter after facing itachi and reliving the death of his clan for 24 hrs via tysumani. This is actually the first moment he’s been awake since itachi’s encounter. The normies, along with everyone who haven’t read the manga but watched the anime rightfully should think it’s dumb that sasuke turned evil despite seeming cool earlier. I really really hope the normies figures this out and can think back on how they felt during the sasuke v itachi fight. I remember the normies being shocked and horrified and feeling for sasuke.

bfsdonuttes

This scene is supposed to happen right after Tsunade returns to the village. He is pissed because all of his hard work made no difference against Itachi and he is frustrated about that. He's upset that all his efforts were meaningless while Naruto keeps getting stronger and stronger. Nothing happened in the filler that caused this.

Killa
>>28202081

getting pretty close to being done with part 1, think thats why people want to rush them, also entering one of the best arcs in the series

Younes

The filler don't have anything to do with the main story line, thats why they are called filler lol. This episode took place right after tsunade came back to the town and healed sasuke.

Anonymous

guys it is filler, in the actual manga he's still in the hospital from the itachi fight. Just ignore that one " Flashback" scene in the beginning.

Anonymous

Naruto did't get chunin because he fought recklessly. They also said before hand that winning and loosing doesn't determine who gets to become a chunin. Shikamauro proved his skills as a lead and strategist during the fight.

Anonymous

GUs: FILLER CONTENT ISN'T CANON. Just ignore the events that happen in filler episodes bc they are NOT canon. What happened to Sasuke in the filler ep isn't canon. SO just ignore that. What happened is Sasuke was in the hospital after the Itachi fight and woke up, messed up from that. This is why people don't want you watching filler content bc it messes with the story with non-canon, pure filler stuff.

AIAI

Ohh that OP, cant wait for this arc to get heatad!

Omar

As many have said before, fillers just muddy the water on what a character's motives are. What drove Sasuke to want to fight Naruto was not the fact that Naruto beat the main bad guy in the filler, heck, he had beaten Haku and Gaara before then while Sasuke laid unconscious. Itachi telling him he wasn't of his concern while also showing acknowledgement of Naruto is what made Sasuke think of not only the Leaf Village and his comrades but also about himself and how a "loser" like Naruto could be doing all those things. That drove him to want to fight Naruto and make sure he was still the top dog. I do think the right message was conveyed after the very first flashback, but that flashback is what made them question what was up. Filler should have ended ep 106 and ep 107 starting with Sasuke waking up and showing only canon material.

Jevan

Damn the Normie fam has gotten pretty far along in Naruto it won’t be too long until they get too Shippuden 💙 also (Don’t worry too much about the ranks like chunin, genin they don’t matter that much for the main characters) much love Normie fam 💙💙

nefi uzumaki

movie is its own thing it doesn't affect show

Does anyone else see the reflection of the video in the new Kakashi artwork?

Yess the movie was so good. Even if it’s not canon the animation and fight scenes are great

Miasimon

It's funny how yall shat on Shikimaru when you first saw him and now it sounds like he's one of your favorite characters. He didn't develop too much, believe it or not, he's just being him. He's easily in my top 3 and would 100% watch the shit out of a series with him as the MC.

Jack L

Why did Naruto not become Chunin? Winning and losing is not a determinate as to one's prospect to becoming Chunin, it's leadership skills, and one's ability to keep the squad alive while completing the mission. Remember Chunins are suppose to be squad leaders. Considering the amount of damage Naruto suffering during the fight, would any of you really trust him to keep an entire squad alive? Bluntly speaking Naruto failed that part of the exam, because the amount of effort he spent was not worth the damage on both sides in the end. Sun Tzu says "winning a hundred battles is not the height of skill, winning without fighting is". In this situation Naruto used a lot of effort while Shikamaru used very little effort to achieve "nearly" the same result and that is why Shikamaru is a Chunin and Naruto has long way to go.

Anonymous

I remember thinking wtf did so many ppl voted u guys not to watch the movie?? Cause jumping to 107 is bound to confuse anyone (though technically yeah, u guys got the jist of it. Naruto had to come save the day again causing Sasuke to feel insecure and angry finally reaching his tipping point), but the movie was actually really good and built on that a lot. I'd say it was def worth the watching. But I guess a lot of ppl were just more eager for u guys to begin this arc.

Rain

Im not gonna lie.. I find it very annoying how suraj, mickey, and chris make jokes during serious moments and during the fight even 😒😒 like pay attention to the show.. make your jokes later... you can see rana and nahid paying attention in those moments . You could be distracting them

John

Shikamaru is the type of person to get somebody caught up in infidelity, also why do y'all have to talk over the video so much everytime there is a hype episode all this movement and random ish y'all doing -_- just to badmouth sasuke

Anonymous

Ye u guys dont need to watch the fillers

Jerome Green

All these fake fans. Yes the fillers were related but the movie was not related (though I think the movies are cool and I've said multiple times that they should watch and react to them but whatever) just don't watch the movies thinking they have direct effect on the actual canon story of Naruto

MF DRIZZLE

Honestly you guys should try the movie, you guys won't regret it. The production is great especially in this first one, Anyone else remember seeing a trailer for it while watching Naruto?

MF DRIZZLE
>>28213908

And it's an original story btw and it's really well done. I know you'll guys love it.

Denver Gray

Probably already been covered, but I'm not gonna read 250 comments lol. The final tournament of the chunin exam isn't a winner gets the promotion deal. Literally everyone or no one can get the promotion to chunin as long as they make it to that stage. Naruto could have won the tournament and not been deemed worthy of the chunin rank. Basically since it was interrupted, they weren't going to promote anyone, but the people who saw Shikamaru's fight reported to Tsunade that they thought he deserved the promotion and the 3rd hokage's guard Raido obviously mentioned Sarutobi had planned on giving it to him, so she promoted him. It was stated by people watching during the exam that Naruto was impressive but he didn't really have Chunin qualities.

Benjamin Donahue

Won't even attempt to read whats already on here lol. But from my understanding those episodes are considered filler because they never happen in the manga. The only reason you're aware of it is that it shows that one flash back with Naruto making the whirlpool however the manga basically goes from Tsunade's arrival in the village to the current fight, and if you remove that filler fight it would have no bearing on Sasuke's attitude. As for the Chunin exam it is expressly stated that winning does not guarantee you become a a Chunin and it is possible for no one to become one. Combat prowess is for sure important, hence the tournament however it is ultimately an evaluation on HOW you fight and lead vs how powerfull you are. Shikamaru was promoted because they evaluated that if he were leading a team on a mission (as a Chunin should) his dicision making and methodology would ensure the completion of the mission. The same way that winning a battle is far from winning a war.

Anonymous
>>28211087

Basically you’re saying to them don’t react as much in reaction videos? Weird comment. They’re creating content. I love rana and nahid so much but I’m not paying to see ppl say “whoa that’s dope”. There’s tons of popular reaction channels you can watch for that for free. And the way you said it... bro, they don’t owe you anything other than react the way they would if there’s no camera.

Rain
>>28211537

So true its like the intense fight or like inner jealousy of sasuke is ruined by their unnecessary jokes 😒

Fighting Wombat

Shikamaru was promoted to Chunin because even though he lost he showed he had a mind for strategy and that is a skill chunin need as they lead missions. The majority of Naruto's fight was shear will power which is important but that sort of mindset would lead to deaths while Shikamaru's would would save lives.

JulianZ

Welp. Time to wait another week:(. They should really consider doing at least 3 episodes per week since there is so many episodes

RuBix Snow

Y’all ripping my boy sasuke up at the end. F.

Anonymous

Think of it as if this starts from the last non filler episode, Sasuke just got mind fucked by Itachi and was just woken up by Tsunade, the only reason the filler fight is there is to put him back in the hospital. The fillers actually make it worse cos you think Sasuke is chill and happy when hes not, not only did he get his ego checked again but he just found out that hes so weak that his brother thinks of him as nothing but a nuisance. Even worse than that his brother DOES have time for Naruto, the biggest loser of the academy and in Sasukes eyes a joke of a ninja. If Naruto is more powerful than Sasuke then that means that he will never stand a chance at beating Itachi and all his time training was a colossal waste of time.

Anonymous

From Sasuke's point of view, he can't seem to catch up to Naruto. Naruto has all these new jutsu's and abilities and on top of that, his own brother dismissed him like he was nothing and wanted Naruto over him. Killing Itachi has been Sasuke entire objective since the massacre and he was just tossed aside for Naruto and he doesn't even know why. I get that he's a little crazy, but him going all "fuck the system" is completely justified. he could have handled things better obviously, but he's at his breaking point.

Anonymous

The intro gives the best idea of how the arc is gonna play out if you look at all of the teasers especially the part with the leaf headband.

Brownhokage

naruto has the best original humour that doesnt have to rely on funny noises or faces to be funny

Brownhokage

shikamaru is already acting like a chunin and not a child anymore who says everythings a drag 24/7

Ryan Graham

The movie is fun. One of my top 3 favorite naruto movies. Definitely worth a watch.Like the Dragonball movies though, it takes place at a weird time interval that doesn't fit in the rest of the timeline. The filler ultimately didn't matter. In the manga, where the filler didn't happen, Sasuke was still in the hospital after Tsunade healed him. The issue with him and Naruto is that Sasuke is so used to being superior to him, and the fact that Naruto is becoming more and more competent so quickly, while he feels like he has stagnated. He's pissed at Itachi for not only the beating, but also only after being Naruto. He's also pissed at himself for not advancing as quickly as he thought he was, and he's taking it out on Naruto

Edox

Okay so you probably got the answer by know, but before the Final Exam happened, the 3rd hokage said that the results of the winners/losers had no bearing to them. It was to test to see how well they are as individuals. The 3rd hokage even said that theres a chance that all, or even none were going to become chunin. Reason why they picked shikamaru, was cause he was the only one who fought and calculated his every move, and after he gave up, it was more that he gave up because he ran low on chakara and wouldnt be able to continue in the other rounds, so even he he wanted to beat temari, he ultimately with drew because he was completeley drained as she was not . Him with drawing fight, also proved to the other proctors, that Shikamaru knows when its the proper time to attack, and when not to give the enemy the advantage. In real life situations, a Chunin is indeed meant to put their lives on the line, but they most also be put in charge of making sure to protect their fellow man. Everyone else aside from shikamaru, were going all out to win, and not trying tobe conservative of their chakara, aka naruto. While neji wasnt chosen either due to letting his personal feelings affect his judgement. Temari indeed also may have been chosen as chunin given that only her and shikamaru were trying to win, while trying to think ahead. Sauske and Gaaras fight had no conclusion, but no way Gaara was gonna be promoted, and Sasuke didnt really get the chance to finish his moveset infront of everybody. Nobody else in the village knows about Sasuke and Naruto vs Gaara (shukaku).

Tom

Hype , also skip the movie it’s filler not important to the story the movies you should watch are the ones after the series ends in shippuden

jakapat manee

3 episode per week pls, cant wait for shippuden 🥺🥺🥺

Logan

Chunin is basically the rank of certain platoon leaders & school teachers. Naruto isn't at that level yet; he's only a chunin-level in terms of physical power. The Chunin Exams didn't guarantee the winner of the fight became a chunin; it was a way to test your skills, and then the higher-ups would gauge your skills and decide if you deserved a promotion.

Anonymous

Even though a hundred people already said this I will still repeat them( this is also the reason i wanted all fillers skip cuz they create misunderstandings) Sasuke got fucked real bad by itachi, he went through childhood trauma all over again for 24 hours. He thought he was improving but after what happened he knows he doesn’t stand a chance against his brother. Meanwhile Naruto, who was always a step behind him, is improving, at this point he wants to feel powerful again. Fillers only find a reason to continuously bring him back to hospital and they change the focus to jealousy but in actual manga it’s not simply just jealousy but also the realization that if even Naruto is better than him than Itachi is a whole new level. He realizes that he needs to get power anyway possible because his only goal in life is to kill his brother. Also In Manga he is in hospital after Getting his ass handed over by Itachi with all the emotions.

Tye

Basically, in the manga none of the filler stuff happens, and Sasuke is still in the hospital from his Itachi beat-down here. So they had to have someone beat him up in the filler so that they had an excuse to have him back in the hospital for this scene.
