Yeah totally, I've been waiting for that 🤞

Eric Hutton

The next episode is a pretty big deal - you should definitely try to get everyone together for it.

Bayan M

Yaaaas! I was hoping for a double drop, but I cannot wait for next week!

bits

You guys pegged Max's vibe perfectly! I could never figure out why she bothers me so much, but you've been calling it episode after episode, major props

ashar waseem

Double drop? fingers crossed

The Normies

:( I will try to plan one for Black Sails soon. But we don't have enough backlog currently to do a double drop :(

Flint has to fire on the fort because if he doesn't, he loses Hornigold's support. Hornigold is far more respected than he is because he helped to build Nassau as a pirate republic. this occurs about a couple of weeks after he killed Gates and his own crew successfully mutinied. If he reneges again, he looks sneaky (which we know he is but he can't look it to the people, the people matter) he risks losing the support of the island which he believes he is *this* close to making a utopia.

I'm just going to reply to myself with an additional nerdy point on piracy and recidivism/morality in this show: what is good about season 1 is that it starts to undo what your thoughts on piracy are so we don't just view the prates as murdering thieves. In season 1 episode 2, Flint says something vey close to what Thomas says in this episode about pirates "they're not animals, Mr Scott, they're men starved of hope", in the first episode of the season you hear Thomas quoting Genesis but it's played over images of the Walrus crew when he says "and then he created Man... and it was good". Sure we see the pirates do "barbaric" things but the motives behind them are complicated/skewing good, the pirates doing bad things just to do them are often killed by pirates themselves. Ned Low is killed by Vane who kills him for love, Hammond is killed by Anne and Eleanor for the same reason, etc. This isn't to say that Flint and Vane and Anne and Jack are good, the notion of goodness is a little moot here, they're just no more terrible than the guy who tortured Billy and he somehow views pirates as lesser despite doing things on the same level or worse. Anyway, I'd be curious to see if and how your thoughts change as they delve into this more. I really like the discussions you guys are having after each ep

RANA taking notes??, lately I've seen her taking notes on the show, I don't like it, I'd like to see her react to the whole show, I HAVE SPOKEN.

Jevan

Gotta love the flint flashbacks they give so much context and reasoning behind him

Arianne Kay

Oh, Flint. Such a complicated and dynamic character. Looking forward to next week.
