Here's some further backstory of Wilhelms flashbacks. Apologies for it being pretty long. Yet, it will give you a clearer picture and understanding of Wilhelms character and backstory in his younger days. Plus you guys will most likely be oblivious to the Re:Zero EX Light Novels that are side stories to specific characters in the series. Some further backstory of Wilhelm from the Re:Zero EX Volume 2: The Love Song of the Sword Devil. The flash backs shown from Wilhelms young days as fighting as a Royal Guard in the Royal Army. The Kingdom of Lugnica was at a civil war with the Demi-human Alliance, a group of demi-human tribes for some years. Back then Wilhelm was the exact opposite that you see now, as back then he was brash, afoot, short tempered, lonely, and often cold with others. A troubled individual who devoted himself wholly to the sword and cared for little else. That started to change however when he met Theresia, who at the time during their firsts interactions and so fourth, didn't know that she was the recent Sword Saint and only known her as, 'Flower Girl' from the little interactions he had with her. Wilhelm would go train most of everyday during his free time at that spot in the flash back and would encounter Theresia at the same spot, looking at the flowers that she grew herself. Theresia would occasionally pose the question, "Do you like flowers?" which in response Wilhelm would say, "No, I hate them." to which she'll follow up by saying, "Why do you wield that sword?" and Wilhelm respond at the time by saying, "It's the only thing I have and known.. ". As time progress, Wilhelm began to enjoy and always look forward to seeing Theresia. He's personality and demeanor also began to change as well and began caring about things he hadn't in a long time, becoming less and less concerned with taking the heads of his enemies over prioritizing the safety of his comrades. He's changes didn't go unnoticed and he was made a Knight. Not long after he told Theresia about it. Disaster struck shortly after Wilhelm attained his wish of becoming a knight, when news of the intensifying civil war had spread all the way to far reaches of the northernmost regions of the country where the Trias territory lay (his family domain). Defying conduct, Wilhelm immediately raced home, only to find his hometown already sacked and faced with more demi-humans forces than he ever fought before. Defeated and near death. He nearly perished as a result had he not been saved by the newest incarnation of the Sword Saint, who turned out to be none other than Theresia, who before didn't want to be the new Sword Saint and avoided her duty until she heard about Wilhelm running off from a friend. Feeling humiliated, but captivated by her display of swordsmanship that he could never reach, and most of all indignation at war, society, and his weak self that had forced her to resign herself to the inescapable fate to take up the mantle of "Sword Saint", Wilhelm confronted Theresia, leading them to part ways with their resolve to protect the other. Which is that scene in the last flashback of this episode. Anyways that's practically the full backstory of the flashbacks. If you guys are interested on knowing more about Wilhelms young days then I recommend reading The Love Song of the Sword Devil and also Volume 3: The Love Ballad of the Sword Devil. There both backstorys of Younger Wilhelm.

Nice. I’m expecting them to enjoy the rest of this season from here on out due to the quick progression of things and boosted action. That being said, Marketa is the MVP for this show.

Man oh man they make you wait for Naruto. This is does slightly interest me but I have no idea what it's about

It's a Isekai. Modern day teenage gamer and Otaku, Natsuki Subaru, is thrust into a mysterious fantasy styled world on his way home from a convenience store. As he searches for the heroine who he assumes summoned him he crosses paths with a silver haired half elf girl. She helps him, he returns the favor by helping her persue a stolen item of hers that leads to their untimely demises. . . Until Subaru comes to, to a specific point back in time, realizing he has the power to "Return by Death". This new discovery as well as his determination to help the half elf, opens his world to an unexpected turn of extremely unfortunate events.

I know their is no point in complaining but I will keep bringing it up. You guys should have stuck with the subs.

You guys could have listened to the ending cause the person singing that ending is Emilia's voice actor herself. In my opinion it is a very good song especially when you know it is Emilia singing it basically for subaru.

L.C.

Also not everything is a naruto reference guys. Chill lol

Actually Wilheim's wife Theresia did not like wielding a sword and she did not like being a master swordman and Wilheim could tell. He did not appreciate her dislike for the sword even though she had great skill with it, so he wanted to take her title from her to help her.

Shockzz1234

Lmao them thinking young Wilhelm was his wife. Anime amirite?

PKKite

Damn the sub and dub both have that line messed up. Basically she did not like being a sword master despite her skill. He thought swordsmanship was beautiful but could tell she didn't care so for her sake and his he wanted to take the master title. 1. So she would no longer be burdened with it. 2. So he could could be someone with the title who truly loves swordsmanship.

PKKite

It's likely just a weirdly worded line from the source if both messed it up.

I watched this entire season with my boy in subbed a while back. But I'm ecstatic about the switch over to dub for this show. I just get so tired of reading the subtitles AND watching your facial expressions at the same time. Never minded it with Vinland, or Hunter X Hunter. But there is just something about re: zero that makes me not want to multi-task lol. Hope you guys don't buckle under the flaming you got (not Marketa) from ep 18 upload.

+1 to Marketa being the favorite in this series. To add to that, the next few eps might scratch Nahid's itch.
