I think for me this was the part where I definitely recognized that the majority of the "powerful" shinobi we've seen up to now weren't actually all that strong compared to where the series was going. When Jiraiya died I kinda thought it, but there was still a feeling that the difference between Pain/Jiraiya and someone like Kakashi wasn't necessarily massive and eventually Naruto could get to that level and face Pain. All this time Kakashi has been THE Elite Jonin in the series, the epidemy of talent and skill for young shinobi to aspire to. And here we see the truth, that despite his experience and intellect he's still laughably weak compared to even just a pair of Pains. He put in the work, and "almost" had them though, RIP Copy Ninja of the Leaf.

He kinda had a similar time with Kakuzu. Kakuzu definitely outclassed Kakashi, in terms of strength and battle experience. If Kakashi didn't have others like Shikamaru helping him he would have died.

One thing to note, kakashi said he only had 50% chakra left before he received backup, then he performed several more jutsu, then he used his mangekyo once his chakra was almost out, so while the mangekyo does take a toll, it wasn't like using it twice would kill him.

I couldn't handle Kakashi's death when I first watched the show. I literally couldn't handle it I always just assumed he'd be safe since he's apart of Team 7. This death made me cry more than any other death up till now.

Just if you guys didn't know kakashi's eye when it changes that's his mangekyou sharingan's ability. We don't know how he unlocked it but we were first introduced to it during his fight with deidara. We have felt a little bit of true pain doh! kakashi will be missed! he was a great sensei!

When they kill my favorite characters, it's weird because I have this upset feeling of not wanting them to die. But also this passion for the series of how great it is they died and made me feel something and be so invested. Where minor deaths kinda just fall flat.
