And that's why you don't watch dub.

yeah code geass dub wasnt bad until i heard nunnally's voice. lord have mercy on her va

Nah, the dub is better than the subbed version tbh. Nunnally's English voice isn't good though but Lelouch's English VA is a GOAT and the show is easier to follow in English

“SuBs ArE bEtTeR tHaN dUbS” dude, let people watch what they want. Besides, contextually it makes more logical sense to watch the dub of an anime where an English based society as prevalent as Britannia exists.

Lol these people didn't even watch the video. I'm talking about when the streaming fucks up and has no subs for the dub, like they were saying in the video.

Obsidian

I love how Marketa gave Chris shit for his yeast joke then dropped the areola line at the end

@Edwin Ayala your statements makes absolutely no sense if you consider that this show was still made by Japanese studio. The og language is Japanese. Just because there's an english based society like Britannian doesn't means its better in english dub. In fact, most shows sound better in their original languages. Theres nothing wrong with english voice acting. I've watched Avatar the last airbender and the cast absolutely killed it with their voice acting. I would not watch it in any other language. It's not about being a weeb or a sub elitist but the simple fact that majority of shows sound and make more sense in their original language. For example, Nunnally (first of all her english va is terrible, don't even try to defend her, god awful) in the japanese calls Lelouch "Onii-sama" a term of respect towards an elder sibling. It allows the viewer to recognize how much she appreciates and respects Lelouch. While in the english dub, she just calls him by his name as there is no difference in honorifics in english. Calling him brother will make no difference. Personally I found Code Geass dub to be good (once again aside from a couple of trash va) and I do like Lelouch's english actor. But it's not hard to see that shows are usually better in their original language as the culture and speeches make more sense as it was originally tailored to that language before being adapted into another one. That's why a lot of stuff in english dub don't feel quite right or the voice actors aren't able to convey in the same sense as japanese ones. It's not about talent. Also this is not a complaint as I honestly dont care what they go with since I've watched the show myself already and enjoyed it either way. My og comment was just pointing to how bad Nunnally's english va was.

Sam Castle

Dub is super good but I can see why people find Nunally's voice annoying

Edwin it doesn't matter whether you're for or against dubs, your comment makes no sense at all 😕 and it's true, anyone saying that meaning isn't lost or altered in a dub is lying to themselves (again, I don't care what anyone's preference is, this is just a fact).

It's funny because of all the arguments Dub stans have, none of them are factual and there's only 3 points they try to claim and that's 1. dub is better (opinion) 2. sub watchers are elitist (opinion/petty) 3. watching dub lets them focus on watching and talking at the same time (false - how is talking over english dialogue going to let them concentrate more. They will need subtitles either way so they can speak over the volume of the show. and don't give me the argument that it's hard to read subtitles and watch at the same time. its called multitasking and majority of anime watchers do it. Hell I put subtitles on even if the show is english. It's not rocket science to read subs)

I don't see the problem with her va either. It's not amazing but I don't think it's terrible either. She sounds innocent like she's supposed to. Obviously stuff will get lost in translation and things will get changed, but both sub and dub are good. I just don't like when people refuse to watch a show in anything but the original (regardless what language the original is).

Kamina 1

Lol without the subtitties you guys definitely seemed a bit off throughout. I missed my cheesy jokes 😭 too quiet.

Mikestrike

If you guys don't want to worry about not having subtitles, the show is also on Netflix now. (Though I think they edited out the pizza branding)

Nunally's English VA isn't my favorite in general, but I think it has a little to do with the type of character she's going for: frail and super innocent. Once she started going for something a little more confident-- mostly in season 2, particularly near the end-- I thought it was a better performance.

To think. All this came about because one guy said "And that's why you don't watch dub." and no one knew the actual context because they didn't watch the entire video. Usually it's the sub elitist that come out lookin crazy, but this time it's the dub lovers 😭😂💀

Max

Nah I'm watching it on Netflix right now and the branding is still there

PKKite

Pretty sure Hulus version has the dub with subs included if Netflix is a issue.

Code Gess has a really good DUB it's one of the few ones that are GOOD but for real! I watched it with Blind wave and I got used to it quickly after few episodes.

Di

Hulu’s subtitles match the dub. Netflix doesn’t. Also, Light wishes he was Lelouch

LY

They're both great characters. No need to compare.

The best comparison: Paul Atreides>Lelouch Light is a child in comparison. He's playing 3D chess while Lelouch is playing 4D chess.

Just for a little perspective (since I don't think they specify where the school is.). Tokyo is actually divided into I want to say eight major (I'll call them districts for lack of knowing the right term). Watching anime you'll likely have heard of some of them like Shinjuku, Akihabara, and Shibuya without knowing they were all part of Tokyo.

Sven Hegenbart

Not sure why there is confusing about lelouch - as prince of course he is from Britania. His mom was like said in the ep not a blue blood but a normal commoner
