This is the only show I genuinely think sometimes sounds silly in English. Funimation take the Japanese accent too literally. They pronounce Gunther as "Guntah" and I just can't help but laugh. There are a lot of other examples. But that's one I haven't noticed til now.

Yeah but it's not a German dub. The Japanese VAs don't say it in a German dialect so idk why the English VAs feel like they're forced to. It just sounds forced, unnatural, and really dumb in an American Dialect. Like when they say "Wall Mawwwria". Or when Reiner Braun turns into "Ryna Brown".

There's a season 4 character who's English Dub name pronunciation is an Australian Euphemism for a Blowjob. This dub is hilarious

Americans do it for Spanish names, like Jorge/“Horhay”, it’s the same kind of thing. German name, German pronunciation.

yup and some subs or wiki also made a mistake of Sasha last name, because of japanese pronounce they mistook it as Blouse not Braus xD or Yeager and not Jäger/Jaeger. It triggers me when i know the right german pronounce, but obviously maybe i do it too with other languages and i don't even notice it... so i always gave that kind of benefit :D

@Aiden you know America has different dialects right? Which one sounds "forced, unnatural, and really dumb"?

can't believe people are still out here talking shit about the dub on episode 21 like get over it already jeez

I'd be more inclined to agree with you guys if they did that for every character. But they pronounce a lot of names like "Ackerman", "Zoe", and "Arlert" in an American Dialect. Yet they can't seem to understand they're allowed to pronounce the 'R' in "Springer" of all names. Funimation normally does great dubs, but this one is an L.

@Juan also great examples. It's like having to dub an Anime that doesn't exclusively contain Japanese Names really confused them lol

MojoJojoGojo

It didn't matter at all Eren was self narrating....he got his ass handed to him regardless lol

Again, which American dialect are you talking about? Because you don't seem to know and just keep repeating "an American Dialect" like there's only one.

Alex Cassells

We need more than one a week😭😭

Anas Ghadfi

10:45 she didn't punch his head off it was a muay thai roundhouse kick. And yeah he wasn't talking it was an inner dialogue. He broke his hand so he couldnt attack.

daytona

haha gotta love that people still bitching about the dub..homies must be some google warriors still bitching about pronunciations/dialect. You ever hear Japanese people speak English, shits just as funny lol

jhn

guys can we maybe do two episodes, they're so short ngl lol

VProductions
>>77365945

Well not all of them have German names, some are just regularly pronounced. Conny has a German last name so it doesn’t have a hard R just like Reiner

SeymourAsces

Lmao Suraj with the S4 reference. That was pretty slick

i agree. its going to take over a year to get to the end of AOT by doing once a week reacts

What is wrong with Nikki. The disrespect to squad Levi. Eren was no match for her. Like Levi said, you don't know how things will turn out. Just because Eren regrets his choice, doesn't mean it was the wrong choice, if not the better one. She was clearly a more experienced Titan. It would have been risky for Eren to fight her. Yea, yea, he should have transformed, and then he can't land a punch and gets his head kicked off.

I once read a comment when Death Note anime first came out, Tv.com or some shit, about the names Wedy and Aiber...."all due credit to the manga-ka, but Japanese people making up English names sounds like something from a retarded parrot". It stayed with me.

Shark-ira

I really like Mikasa's VA in this episode

Who cares. Sounds good to me. The dub for this ain't that bad unlike most other dubs. I don't give a flying f about dialect or whatever. If it sound good, it sound good. But everyone got different taste.
