IDK if it’d be possible to have a vampire show set in a high school environment without running into this age problem. Not unless you cut out that romance part, and while that is less creepy idk I like romance in my supernatural high school stories lol

A couple notes: Spider-Man is a big influence on Whedon and the character of Buffy. Thus the "with power comes responsibility line" Angel's necklace is not a cross. I'm not totally sure what it is at the end of his necklace despite seeing the series a couple times but it's not a cross.

To be fair Angel is more than a lifetime older than any human alive. Also, who can a vamp with a soul really hang out with/bond with? Other Vamps are literally pure evil while humans are all young and ignorant to what he really is.

Pat, the continuity works I think. They haven't shown Angel's necklace yet, just the chain and pendant outline under his shirt. He throws Buffy's cross to her in a jewelry box and when they talk in the daytime they're indoors and he's away from the window. Sneaky show 😋

A small detail, after Angel and Darla confrontation which ended with Darla liking being hurt by Angel “you’re hurting me, that’s good too”, Darla is wearing a red outfit. Since nothing is casual in this show and the writing is much more clever than you might think, it’s a hint that they had sex.
