Kanan Jarrus

I’m pretty sure they misunderstood this arc and think it’s the “origin” of Star Wars or whatever, but you can’t win them all I guess.

Mark

Marketa, the fact that you think that Anakin is always a selfish person is not true at all. It is not about being the perfect goody two-shoes jedi where you have all of your pure essence. If you notice the Daughter did not disappear and neither did the Son. The Father, who is the embodiment of balance is only one of those mystics whose body vanished after he died. You have to have a mix of both selflessness and selfishness which is what Anakin has. It is about that balance. You have to have some darkness in you as well. The jedi and these mystical beings ( they are not gods) have these ideas of what the chosen one is supposed to do to bring balance, but it is only based on interpretation. No one really knows the real answer. The Father and the Jedi are trying to protect Anakin and make him the chosen one. But forcing the issue literally becomes there own undoing in a way. You cannot force the issue. If Qui-Gon trained Anakin instead of Obi-Wan, I think he would have been more successful. You can only fulfill your destiny with those who believe in you are by your side to lift you up and keep you on the right path. During the time when Anakin's turn in Revenge of the Sith, he didn't have anyone who mattered by his side during one the most important moments of his life. He felt more alone than he ever did in his life. Ahsoka's not around and he was separated from Obi-Wan as well during that time. Palpatine literally wanted this to happen because he knows that if he gets these key people out of the way than Anakin will be his. One more thing to clarify, Palpatine did die in Return of the Jedi when Anakin/Vader threw him down the reactor. So he did fulfill his destiny as the chosen one and brought balance to the force and destroyed the sith. In the sequel trilogy he brought himself back in a clone body of himself and put his consciousness into it and was trying to bring the Sith back. But Rey preserved the balance to the force that Anakin Skywalker aka the "chosen one" created.

Why would people spoil this? lol

Anakin didnt redeem himself lmao. Dude genocided countless galaxies, probably trillons dead by his hand and he only does it to save his son, he can never be redeemed and he is selfish. Anakain was a whiny baby that had too much power

Blake

Ya I still don't think genocide and killing children is really bringing balance

Mark
>>82414799

You guys are not understanding what I am saying. It is much bigger than that. I never said killing kids was a good thing. It is just the way his destiny as the chosen one played out. The reason why Duel of the Fates was called that is because whatever the outcome of that fight was would determine how Anakin's destiny would play out.

Q

"Like what the fuck!?" - Mickey lol

Q

the greatest thing this world has ever done was not spoil this batch of episodes for the next person lol

Destiny can't supersede personal accountability. Even if you accept that destiny is real, it doesn't take away that person's accountability. Let's say Hitler was "destined" to be the way that he was and do the things he did. His personal accountability isn't exonerated because it was his destiny. "It's not his fault because he had no choice. It was meant to be." No. Even if we accept destiny was real, then it was his destiny to be an asshole and commit genocide.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that the Mortis Arc wasn't already spoiled

Jermall Keels

I hope you all plan on watching Star Wars rebels after clone wars. Your discussion about what makes a good Jedi makes me think about a main character in that show who I think truly exemplifies the type of balance a good Jedi or force user needs

Kamina 1

It's times like this where forgetting things really can limit the potential of a proper back n forth discussion. This was the Chris and Marketa show from beginning of discussion to the end. Rana tired for literally 1 second and lost interest a second later. Spidey was all the way on one side with the house of black and white. Micky was.... well Micky haha. Suraj tried the hardest, but again did not have the fire power to properly make a case because he doesn't remember the countless times Anakin has put his life on the line for people he ether barely knows, or only met once and will never see again. I am much more of a normie fan than Blind Wave. But never did i want so bad for Eric to jump into that room and help Suraj out lol. It got so bad to the point where Chris and Ketty had this man convinced that he was just being an Anakin stan 😂. Just because they sound so confident in what they were saying, does not mean they are correct. Dude you gotta believe in yourself more.

Thank you Kamina 1. At least someone is understanding the situation.

Gershwin Alessandro Farao

I love Marketa and Chris, but they have a very one-dimensional view of the world. It's either this or that with them.

Bob
>>82414799

Anakin made the choice to choike his pregnant wife lol hes a POS and the worst thing for the galaxy ever

Bob
>>82414799

Anakin himself made his choices whiny baby that should have been killed by qui gon but that fuckup stays fucking up even from beyond the grave

Tekyo
>>82414799

Tmatts, no one is saying that personal accountability isnt important, in fact its the opposite. Destiny in this context is the force, jedi have the ultimate free will in that they are able to physically manifest their will and the choices they make along the way are ultimately their own. The jedi screwed up bad with Anakin so they faced severe consequences, but Anakin still fulfilled his destiny by the end of his life. The events of the movies couldve played out in a number of ways but palpatine would still be killed by anakin to restore balance. That being said , yes Anakin is a bad guy, thats why it is the tragedy of darth vader because he couldve been a good guy, but he died before the legal system could get him lol

Matthew Taylor

philosophy of kriea jedi align themselves with slave morality which is utility for the majority based off of self sacrifice, the jedi alienate themsleves from living life with love, the feeling of adventure, and accomplishment. eventually many jedi fall to the darkside one must wonder if it is the failure of the teachers or the teachings themselves. compare both the jedi and the sith code.

"You guys are not understanding what I am saying. It is much bigger than that." People understand what you're saying; it's just hard to overlook billions dead and to some degree Anakin's decisions are selfish. This conversation feels awfully familiar to the people who defend Muad'dib in "Dune" when he's killing billions. For me, there's a line between fulfilling prophecy and being a monster in trying to fulfill said prophecy. In my mind Anakin will always be a little bit selfish and I don't think it's unfair for people to come off with that impression.

Mark
>>82414799

I am not saying to overlook it. I am merely pointing out that regardless of the things he has done. Anakin as Darth Vader deep down still had good in him. That is why in the end when he died and embraced the light side of the force like he did before his turn to dark side, he was able to be a force ghost alongside Obi-Wan and Yoda. Qui-Gon was right about Anakin's destiny. I am not saying that he didn't make choices but other people particularly the Jedi in general have done questionable things that influence what he does. The force doesn't care whether you're good or bad. All the dead go to the cosmic force in the end. Those who learn to retain their identity after death can only do so by being part of the light side of the force. He is not only selfish. Like I said before, you have to have both light and darkness in you because it is all about that balance. He has also done selfless things before. He has thought other people and saved them. He doesn't just think about himself all the time.

Chaos T
>>82414799

That's fine I just don't believe people should be hyper critical of those who think genocide supersedes the points you bring up. It's probably wrong of me but in the back of my mind Star Trek rules will always apply when talking about morality in scifi/fantasy universes. Anakin did a great number of heroic and selfless deeds; there's no denying that. However it was a collection of selfish choices that brought him to the dark side; including marrying Padme. It makes him very much human.

Chaos T
>>82414799

This issue is one of the problems I've had with the Star Wars franchise since Return of the Jedi.

Mark
>>82414799

That's OK. I see what you're saying. We just can't always compare Star Wars with what happens in Star Trek. They are completely different situations that deal with outerspace.

Isaac Torres
>>82455187

It's much simpler: failure of the individual. It's not easy to comply with what a Jedi truly represents and stands for. However, those who do are extremely powerful.

Chili Chanda

Personally I don’t think Marketa and Chris understand Anakin's character/journey

kai

literally imagine the son vs palpatine that would be a funny fight bc we know who would win
