Really frustrated that we didn’t get a black Cordelia… the network was okay with one but they didn’t want interracial relationships on the show so the writers chose to cast Charisma Carpenter… who’s amazing… but the fact that the writers could have made this iconic female character black and chose not to just so she could be with a white character drives me crazy (Edited for next episode spoiler) https://sports.yahoo.com/buffys-cordelia-originally-supposed-played-111000175.html

Faction Paradox

Man, I hate it whenever someone sends an ancient, supernatural order of assassins after me. It's a right hassle.

Arkonios

part 2 gonna feel like an eternity away.

Tim Pierce

6 ppl and none of them touched on the fact there's only supposed to be one Slayer.

Morgan Le Fay

It’s upsetting, but I do love Charisma so much as Cordy. Bianca Lawson would’ve been great in the role too. It doesn’t surprise me since Joss has racism allegations towards him anyway….as well as his treatment of actors on his other projects.

Morgan Le Fay

They’re Normies- it’s kind of their business to miss key info😂. Then Suraj usually mentions it in the next video, since they are very interactive with their community. I prefer that to the channels that act like their Patrons/discord peeps don’t exist.

Endless_Art

The racism allegation was that he lightened a character's skin in post. and that wasn't actually true. The entire film was brightened in post because Warner wanted a lighter, brighter look to the film. Due to time constraints Whedon had to shoot on digital while Snyder's footage was shot on film, additionally Snyder's footage was very dark and contrast-y, requiring a lot of work to bring the two closer together visually and none of that was even handled by Whedon.

Cory Garron

Anyone else not getting notifications for these?

Nick Earl

Shame they didn't do a double reaction :(

outdoorcats

Like Mickey, I find Bianca Lawson's horrible Jamaican accent weirdly cute...

Tan B

Who is the actress playing Kendra??? Normies let me introduce you to Miss Bianca Lawson aka the real life vampire aka the 30+ year old teenager aka Beyoncé’s stepsister. You’ve probably seen her in movies and tv shows like: Sister, Sister; Dawsons’s Creek; Save the Last Dance; Pretty Little Liars; The Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf. I 🤬 despise her in this role; yes because of the accent…

Bisibia

It is pretty insane tho that it's said in the intro of the show like 20 times by now that there is only one lmao... and there's a lot of lore that it makes sense to accidentally miss. But 6 people ALL missin the same thing that's been said like a million times is... impressive.

Sheriff Uchiha

And here it is. The time Buffy killed a human and acts like she never did.

CWall

I mean he wasn’t an innocent, he was an assassin

Pajander

"The WB network had "concern" about "interracial relationships" at the time, so the creator had to change his casting plans." I mean, Whedon's an ass, but surely this one's on the network? "No interracial relationships", what the christ.

Pajander

Has the show always been so low in the mix? Kinda hard to follow the dialogue.

The network is fucked for sure but representation was lacking everywhere on tv at the time and they were feeding into the problem by choosing not to cast non-white actors as main cast members in any season of the show. If a handful of relationships are worth more than a non-white cast member then that's a shitty choice on their part. Even more frustrating considering that the writing staff showed they were willing to challenge the network with their gay character's relationships

Nicholas Reed

He also physically overpowered Angel, so he might not have been human. I always assumed he was a demon that looked human.

Nicholas Reed

Or, possibly, he was a cage door disguised as a human. Really, anything is possible in Buffy

Ricardo Obregon

Woooo another good episode, this is a special one cuase it hints at something for later, wooo starting to pick up speed, going to be a fun season wooo

Sheriff Uchiha

Maybe. But Buffy never even commented on it. And later on in the show, killing humans no matter how bad they are is a point of major contention.

Chris Peterson

Can we not with the relationship spoilers? You're referencing a relationship that hasn't even really started yet.highly highly highly doubt that being white was the sole reason that Charisma Carpenter was cast for the role.

Chris Peterson

Yes the accent is all over the place, but for some reason I find it really cute. Maybe it's just the way Bianca Lawson looks or the way Kendra acts, or both, but for whatever reason it just does it for me.

Crispy

Man, Rana is REAL quick to pick things up. Respect

Crispy

It's funny because as a Brit, while it's not exactly good, it also isn't a million miles off what you hear people from Afro-Carribbean backgrounds speaking like here. The "gyal" in particular is spot on.

outdoorcats

The show isn't super consistent about it. Remember the Knights of Byzantium? If you know, you know.

Chaos T

space1999, around the time Buffy premiered the tragic death of Matthew Shepard happened and opinions were changing nation wide; at least for the generation and audience Buffy was marketed towards. Networks were willing to "take risks" and produce entertainment showing gay character relationships because it was politically convenient for them.

rickie woodson

so surprised there wasnt a big reaction from chris since he called it out before "they are the scooby gang" and then xander finally said the thing and it was total silence
