The Clones are over General Krell's disregard for their safety, so they take things into their own hands.

The clones nicknames often come from what their personality traits or habits are. For example Hevy and Hardcase like action and heavy weapons, Echo repeated orders, Dogma follows orders without question. This isn't always the case, I have no idea why Jesse with the flag tattoo on his face is called Jesse. Also while Jedi like Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Plo koon cared about their clones this was not standard for most Jedi. So while most Jedi weren't as bad as Pong Krell they also weren't as good or sympathetic as the main characters are.

All the clones with miniguns always go out with a bang

Rewatching this arc just makes me wish we got more of Rahm Kota.

He could've just picked it, as most clones were encouraged by jedi to have names, or it could've come from some number like J-3553, but that's not his clone number so I'm not sure where it would've come from. It could've been like Rex in legends, where he took his name from a droid he liked called R3-X

I think when it comes to Krell, he falls into the promoting people at the wrong time category. Like with Master Fisto’s padawan in the lair or grievous episode. He was too brash and started picking up traits that a Jedi shouldn’t have because he thought that what you needed for war. All in all, the Jedi shouldn’t be involved in the war.
