I CANT BELIEVE WE’RE HERE!! All I can say is… Tom don’t lose hope 🙏

Hey Tom I would really urge you to look into terms like Communism, as I’ve seen you attribute it pretty inaccurately across a few different shows. In this case, we see the Dai Lee’s political and ideological control over Ba Sing Se. This involves dissenters who voice their opinions being prosecuted, visitors to the land enduring strict and often abusive immigration policies, surveillance everywhere, etc. you say “communism” but brother these are how much of the world has viewed the United States for Decades! Even today we see free and legally protected Americans abducted for speaking their mind, we see history constantly being rewritten to place us favorably, and of course we are known for our surveillance state. Ba sing se is not remotely an image of communism, its authoritarianism. This existed throughout every political alignment, in this case a monarchy. Sorry for the rant, my work is in nonpartisan political organization and education and my background education is in sociology and political history and I rarely have a chance to relate that to a masterpiece tv show lol!

omg… this season’s ending is pretty dark :( thank god for the North Pole water!!

GunbladeKnight

They even had Azula vs Suki in the previously on as a hint.

KC

Zuko is such a disappointment

DanLand Saga

Azula and her 2 friends are in disguise as Kioshi warriors

Scrumpo

Such an amazing and harrowing ending to season 2, season 3 can’t come some enough

Eyal Goldberg

Loved the psycological analysis for the guru sessions!

Amy J

Same!! Such a great way to teach a younger audience about the concepts too

As painful as it is, I love this finale. Zuko's betrayal doesn't feel forced. It makes perfect sense. Its like someone kicking their alcohol addiction and finally seeing the light, only to have their own family install a fully stocked bar in their own home. Zuko finally reckoned with what his father and sister did to him. He saw that they used finding the avatar as a tool to get him to do their bidding, because it was the only way to restore his status. They know that his birthright as Fire Lord is what he wants, and more importantly what he deserves. Zuko, after years of pain and suffering, finally gives up this dream, only to then have it offered to him on a silver platter by the very people that sent him on this impossible quest in the first place. It's a perfect example of how on the path to healing we often backslide, and make decisions that, although we may know are wrong, have become almost instinctual because of our conditioning

Appreciate your take and clearly you have been educated in this area more than me, especially my limited understanding of politics because all of that disappoints me. It’s such a discouraging thing to watch and all I want is for everyone to get along🙏

im so glad you picked up on it, but one of my absolute favourite things narrative wise about this entire show is how well zuko and aang have their arcs paralleled. youll notice almost every single time you get backstory or training or some significant event for one of them, its paired with the same for the other (eg- learning about aang abandoning his home vs zuko facing his father in s1, or aang learning earthbending for the first time vs zuko learning lightning redirection earlier in s2, or even zuko betraying iroh vs aang 'abandoning' katara in this finale). its a constant and its so fascinating how their characters bounce off each other without even interacting. youll notice if you pay attention that they even tend to share beliefs or attitudes from time to time, and its so cool to see from a writing perspective. this show is a masterpiece of character writing also, one of my favourite details is the moment when zuko decides to side with azula - pay attention to his face. you see the panic there? hes desperate. he clearly has no idea what to do and hes just desperately grasping for what hes dreamed of, but hes obviously panicking about it. he knows its the wrong decision, but he cant stop himself. its tragic

It's Funny For Me To Know Aang Knows Nothing About Chakras, Knowing He Was Raised By Monks In A Spiritual Society/ Community. I Study And Exercise The Chakra Aligning Practices, Both Learned And Self Discovered Philosophies & Practices. Along With Psychology. Aang Has Always Been A Natural. Also Growing Up Around It Helps.

Talon Karrde

Its not his position or fame that tempted Zuko it was just the possibility of his fathers love

Allie

I hope I don’t get slammed in the comments for this one, but I’ve always though the grief chakra segment focusing solely on his love for Katara, while nice and emphasizing the connection Aang has to her, was a bit of a missed opportunity. His grief was based in loss of all of his people, his family. The weight of genocide and the devastating consequences has been shown a lot in this show and I would have personally liked to have seen flashes of the whole gang because they’ve all become his new family. The family we choose is a huge component of the whole show.

Reaction Therapy

I actually love these comments Allie and I agree, he’s had so much loss and his life isn’t just about one girl. He also was gone for a century and feels so responsible for all the damage that happened during that time. Thanks for bringing this up😊🙏

Pod Rider

I also think it's more the fact that Katara was in danger though and he sensed it, like Luke Skywalker in Empire Strikes Back

Evan Kyle

8mo comment lol but I always assumed him not knowing here was more for the viewers rather than showing that Aang doesn't know what they are. If they started the explanation of chakras in the show from after knowing what they are already, anyone watching who doesn't know what chakras are already would be lost

Evan Kyle

I've been waiting for this episode(the chakra aligning very therapeutic episode) since I saw your youtube channel, its such a good one, its one of the many things that has helped how I process my own emotions
