I don’t like when people compare Gabi to Eren to justify her hatred. Paradis had been minding its own business, while Marley actively attacked them. Eren didn’t just randomly slaughter innocent people like Gabi claims, his people were the ones suddenly attacked in season 1. The only valid defense for Gabi is her indoctrination, but even her friends weren’t as blindly hateful as she was. Eren’s anger is rooted in real anger from an unjust terror attack against his people, while Gabi’s isn’t.

they are not parallels is my point which i just explained. erens people didnt just go attack marley while gabi watched her mother attacked. paradis isnt the aggressor in this, uniting the world to genocide a group of people. its not the same

I think the point isnt to show justification, but just rather why the cycle of violence continued. Cause why start the timeline when Paradis was attacked? Do you think that 1700 years of systematic genocide by the Eldians is going to be swept away with “hey guys we are cool now, let us chill?” No, now obvious to genocide them in return is not justifiable. But that’s the whole point, is the never ending cycle of violence and why it happens. It’s almost never justified, it’s just showing why the same things keep happening over and over again. History doesn’t repeat, but it does rhyme.

@talbert The cycle didn’t just magically continue on its own, it kept going because of people like Gabi, who were indoctrinated into hate and acted on it. If Paradis had been left alone, none of this would’ve unfolded the way it did. You’re asking why I start the timeline when Paradis was attacked? Because it had been 104 years since the last major conflict ended. For over a century, it was Marley who kept attacking, not Paradis. And ‘1700 years of systematic genocide by the Eldians? That’s literally the same thing Marley is doing right now. Plus, the people inside the Walls of paradis aren’t some monolithic group of villains, they’re a mix of populations that King Fritz once conquered and relocated, they are victims as well. So punishing generations 10 decades later as if they were responsible makes zero sense.

2026-09-20 05:00 I don't understand people who have already seen this show and STILL try to pick a good side and a bad side. There are no good guys or bad guys and the show is VERY clear about that. It's also clear that making value judgements like good and bad is what ends up making the cycle of violence continue.

Hey Tom, for anime, pay close attention to hair of the characters. It's very common for characters to have unique hair color and style. Attack on Titan is one of the more difficult animes to tell characters apart because of it's art style, realistic bodies, clothing and hair, and the large cast. Other animes will simply just have a character with red hair, blue hair, pink hair, etc. And each character has a unique silhouette. So while hair is still useful in AoT, it's not really useful unless you know what to look for.

You know what, I hadn’t really thought about that, but I agree now that I look back. Gabi and Eren do have similar reactive behaviors and passion but it did seem like all was good at the beginning of the show until the attack, thanks for pointing that out😊🙏

You seem to completely misunderstand my point. I also don’t think you know what “literally” means, because the Marleyans have been genociding for only 100 years, not 1700. So no, not literally the same. I bring up the timeline to point out that if you want to play the grievance game, both sides can just keep going back further and further into absurdity. “The cycle didn’t just magically continue on its own,” yeah thats like the entire point of what I just wrote. It also makes zero sense to teach hate, to want to genocide, racism, blah blah blah to everything, yeah it’s all bad. You seem to be arguing against someone who is advocating genocide, that person isn’t me. Try and reply to what I say next time.
