Ceylen

that branch would have killed his child if he was in the car with him. i think that was the final draw for tony

Emil Overgaard

Thats the excuse he uses anyway. Just an easy way out for him, on the massive problem that was a junkie that was extremely unreliable.

Emil Overgaard

I think it says everything about this situation, that even Paulie, shows more remorse over the situation and sadness over Christophers dead, than Tony.

Ceylen

Yeah i was thinking the same thing

Tom Riddle

He was hallucinating on peyote kinda high but not really in a traditional sense, pretty good depiction of taking hallucinogens though.

Jonah Smith

I'm pretty sure Tony's "I get it!" moment is when he officially adopts Livia's nihilistic way of looking at life. In the desert, Tony realizes that "it's all a big nothing". l believe this episode is where we see the ultimate moral death of Tony Soprano. From feeling a strange relief of Chris' death (his biggest familial failure), to taking a solo trip to get some quiet, to looking to the light in the desert--and seeing that it's all meaningless. As inconsequential as it seems, this is the climax of Tony's tragic character arc--Melfi's therapy loses to Tony's underlying nature that he used to fight against. Because if it is all for nothing, then his sins are just as transparent as drinkable water.

Avery

I remember so vividly I almost had an anxiety attack when I heard Tony say he's murdered friends before to Dr. Melfi 😂

This was a HUGE shock when it aired. 😳 and all the spoilers were by word of mouth back then so everybody was like, Tony kills christopher!! Im numb to it now but fuck, its soo damn sad. Christ best episode was ep 17. The symbolism behind him killing mitch then falling off again and finally dying. Tony never grieves christopher at all. He becomes impossible to root for after this.
