Fun fact this was officially Dexters new definitive series finale for 2 years but after the backlash, all the records New Blood shattered and the Netflix resurgence. Resurrection was officially announced. It still blows my mind if it wasn’t for both these series finales being so bad we would have never gotten Resurrection. Also another fun fact if you pause during the moment Angel opens his email you can see emails from Quinn referring Masuka getting married and that they’re both still with Miami Metro.

Hey @Tom, were there any plans to watch Dexter Original Sin? I've seen talks about resurrection, but Original Sin came out first. I was just wondering if this may be on the table for later - thanks

Yes and no. lol Tom outlined the reasons that charging him for the murder of Matt Caldwell would never hold up. Dexter did, too. Angel coming up would be the bigger threat, but not a huge one. Even with the ridiculous retconning of M99 into ketsmine and the introduction of injection marks to Bay Harbor Butcher victims, it would be entirely circumstantial. It's hard to imagine what other evidence they could come up with 15+ years after the original investigation closed. They'd need a lot more than they had to even consider reopening a long-closed case of that magnitude. The idea that Dexter would be so desperate as to kill Logan to escape is beyond ridiculous. I enjoyed most of New Blood, but overall I'd say they took a bad original ending and replaced it with one even worse. At least it got us Resurrection.

Tom, since you are watching resurrection before Original Sin you need to watch the first minute and 30 seconds of Original Sin before starting Resurrection

If you skip Dexter Original Sin you miss some key scenes. It’s designed to be watched in order. No need to rush into Resurrection anyways as the whole season isn’t released on the 30th.

u do realize he doesn't upload episodes the second he finishes reacting right? he's most definitely at episode 2 or 3 since Dexter reactions release on Friday normally, so equally, no, this isn't a problem

i feel like with season 8 they were throwing out too many ideas and rushing a conclusion to all of them so it got sloppy. then with this it was so good but we entered the era of shorter seasons where almost everything feels rushed and poorly done because they just arent giving us time to write satisfying stories. up until now there were a few questionable kills. but most of the innocent kills came more in the wake of Dexter than directly. Logan is probably the first solid innocent kill Dexter did. i personally thought dexter origins was OK. it had flaws and it tried to capture the same stakes where "will Dexter get away with this?!" but being a flash back series we already know things turn out fine. It did manage to have 1 mystery. it was good enough that it was originally renewed for a 2nd season, but then there was a corporate merger and change of leadership where i guess they choose to focus on resurrection instead.
