the video of it explains more and gives insight to the song

Oh dear. Yeah. This one you HAVE to do the original music video. There’s a lot you’ll miss without it. This song is just incredible, but to truly appreciate it, you have to have the video. Dre & Em never had a falling out, Dre’s son died and a lot of stuff was happening and a lot of people said Dre fell off., which yeah, no. The video really explains so much, and is heartbreaking in a lot of ways. It shows old video of Dre through his earliest days, his family etc. The video and the song together really created a masterpiece of short form story telling in my opinion.

The music video to I need a doctor. since it has dr. dre in a hospital bed hooked up to monitors

Great reaction Tom!!! And yeah, I agree, the video helps a lot with this one. Em’s performance and desperation is brilliant - especially f you’ve seen 8 Mile, you’ll know Em is a great actor too!

Sorry - posted message before I was finished lol! Dre also makes his peace with Eazy E at the end of the video too - they had fallen out after NWA had become huge and then Eazy became really unwell and passed. I think Dre did visit him in hospital but obviously still harboured some complicated feelings and didn’t feel it was fully resolved. (Just in case you watch the video and are unsure who Eric Wright is at the end - that’s Eazy). If you’re interested in hiphop around this time and specifically Dre, Eazy, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, Snoop etc you should watch ‘Straight Outta Compton’ - loads of background info and you’ll understand the scene around that time a little better. Although you’re doing a fab job discovering as you go so definitely not essential!!! One of the things I enjoyed so much about the half time show at the Super Bowl was seeing how excited Dre was about being in LA performing to a ‘home crowd’ and they all KILLED it!!! Dre, Snoop, Mary and (almost) Em are in their 50’s and out there showing the younger generation how you put on a show!!!! Just imagine how different the entire hiphop scene would be if there was never a Dre! We wouldn’t have so many of the artists we love today - or at least, they might not have been as successful! Em and Dre’s relationship is inspiring - and Em and 50’s is just adorable!

Dr. Dre lost his son in 2008 or 2009. This song was released in 2011. Dre was definitely going through grief and was in a terrible spot. Eminem and Dre are like Brothers. I don't see them ever not being extremely close. I love this song.

Very well said Emma! Thank you for this! Another movie I need to see I guess, “straight outta Compton”!😊👍

What a great song. That's all I have to say. :) Good reaction!
