OMG Mulberry St is my favorite song off SAI, I think. Here is what I figured out. The Hype (Trench) and Mulberry St (SAI) are the same. Since we know that SIA is Dema’s answer to Trench it got me thinking about The Hype and Mulberry St. We know that The Hype was written to a younger Tyler when he was first starting out and Mulberry St was written about that specific street they went to when they were first signed aka starting out. In The Hype he talks about people and how they will say things to either hype you up or talk behind your back and either way you need to get a thick skin and in Mulberry St he’s talks about how he doesn’t care anymore what people say because he’s finally realized people will do anything to keep them happy. The Hype “exterior world can step off”, Mulberry St “Keep sidewalk under your feet” Then there is the bridge to both songs. In The Hype “No, I don’t know which way I’m going but I can hear my way around” and in Mulberry St “When times aren’t the best and I’m on the edge I’ll listen for a song in the distance”. They are both saying the exact same thing. When he’s upset, lost, or hurting he turns to music for help. I really think these are the same songs just from 2 different perspectives. I hope this makes sense.
