My friend, Mike Shaw, took the above Lunar Eclipse sequence (click for more info) at his latest Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse workshop. Mike is an expert at planning nightscape shots, whether they are of the moon, star trails, star constellations or the Milky Way core. He knows how to plan for the perfect alignment.
Mike is skilled with many planning apps, i.e. the Photographer's Ephemeris and PhotoPills. However, his favorite is Planit Pro, which is available for both the Apple and Android.
How-to Guides for Planit Pro tools and features are laid out on Mike's website. He has put together 34 tutorials, not only to help teach you how to use all the tools Planit Pro has to offer, but he has examples of how to plan for:
- Milky Way core alignment
- Sunset/sunrise alignments
- Star constellation alignments
- Star trails
- Meteor showers
- Lunar eclipses
- Shadow planning
Effective Planning. Are you making the best use of your time? In one of his free webinars, Mike demonstrates how he plans out several night photography sessions to make the best use of his time as the evening progresses through its stages of darkness.
Custom Planning Package. Not everyone is skilled at using apps to plan their dream nightscape, nor do some of us want to take the time to learn another app. Mike has put together a special service just those of us who want extra guidance and hand-holding. The PDF below, is an example of an "Expert Night Photography Plan" you might receive if you ordered one of Mike's custom planning packages.
