My friend, Eric Benedetti, is well known for his high resolution panorama images. They are insanely detailed because they are not only multi-rowed panoramas, but each panel is a tracked image!

Combining these two techniques produces such beautiful results that Eric decided a few years ago to test a theory he had: Could a beginning nightscape photographer produce great images with budget equipment (under $1,000 in gear) by using pano stitching and tracking. The answer is YES, and Eric has the images and a video to prove it!

In the above image (shot with $1,100 in equipment—including the tracker), Eric talks about "Taking it all in", or taking the time to enjoy the night:

"One of the things I enjoy the most about using tracking mounts for my nightscape photography is the fact that the long exposures give me time to sit down and take it all in. Far too often I find that night photographers are so sucked into the back of their cameras, or worried about so many little things with their composition that they fail to really pause and enjoy the stars themselves. Here I've caught [my partner] Bry lying down and taking it all in. This is what it's all about, a moment in a place that's so amazing under the stars."

NOTE: My patrons can expect to see many more posts over the next few months, as I continue to "serialize" updates to my original, version 1.1 "Milky Way NightScapes" eBook. These advance updates will become available exclusively to my patrons, page-by-page, until my new version 2.0 eBook is completed and published sometime in late 2023.
