Did you know that a century ago astronomers believed that there were only a handful of galaxies in the universe like our Milky Way Galaxy? They even thought that Andromeda was part of our galaxy, and not its own separate galaxy!
During that same period we thought there were only about a 100 billion stars in the whole universe. It's now estimate that there are more than that many stars in our own Milky Way Galaxy, and that there are up to 2 trillion galaxies in the universe, with an average of 100 billion stars in each galaxy.
Today's ebook update not only discusses some of these details, but does a comparative view of the Milky Way from the Southern and Northern Hemisphere. Those in the Southern Hemisphere, like Patreon member Doug Ingram, who took the above photo, have a slightly wider view of the more interesting parts of the Milky Way (in my opinion) than those of us in the Northern Hemisphere.

NOTE: My patrons can expect to see many more posts over the next few months, as I continue to "serialize" updates to my original, version 1.1 "Milky Way NightScapes" eBook. These advance updates will become available exclusively to my patrons, page-by-page, until my new version 2.0 eBook is completed and published in late March 2024.
