Real Time Update- Sept 4th, 2022 Ahoy Tribe!  Well it seems we've been a hurricane magnet of sorts lately....  We wanted to give you a little update on what's been going on.  Wish us luck!  Course update- We’re headed for San Carlos!  After seeing today’s forecast for the impending hurricane we decided to bail on our plans to ride it out in a hurricane hole in Baja.  Seemed like a better idea to sail towards the mainland and out of the projected path instead of right into it.  So we made a 90 turn to starboard and are now 60 NM from San Carlos, Sonora.   It’s been a crazy few days of considering options and we sure hope this is the right call.  We called the marina in San Carlos and emailed but no response yet.  Is there anyone around that has any info on a safe option for us in San Carlos (marina/mooring/anchorage)?  We want to be prepared as it could still get quite windy. It was so lovely to hear from you in real time, especially after Kazza’s illness. You look so good, and I’m glad you are all better. Much luck getting into your anchorage.

Anne West

Glad you’re feeling better Kazza.

Daryl Smith

Best of luck avoiding the storm. Looked like a great day for sailing.

Smart choice. Be safe. You've been through this before so I'm sure you'll be prepared.

Marina Seca San Carlos phone +52 (622) 225 0610. or(888) 792 9094. It was all I could find that look ok. From what i could tell, it looks well protected... There is a yact club there. Maybe they would have suggestions.. It looks like it is owned by an american "Ed". Try giving him a call..

Lance Daniels

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear Karin is feeling better. I hope you are able to stay clear of the storm, and that San Carlos proves to be a good place for you all.

So happy to hear Karin is doing better. What a bunch of bad things hitting her one after another! I'm glad she was well for her birthday! I will be wishing the best for all of you regarding the approaching storm! <3

Bart Casey

Craziness! Hope you guys got hunkered down and that thing skirts right by you.

Brian, Kaza, I have been powerboating in San Carlos many times in past years but don't know much about anchorages. I used to take my 22 ft. walkaround cuddy down there for SCUB diving. Moored in San Carlos Marina many times. I found a blog for someone that has sailed this area extensively that might be helpful.

Andrew Devaney

Safe travels and hoping the hurricane keeps north and west of you!! Sending you positive and safe vibes.

SV Trippin'

We used to do the Columbus Day Regatta from San Carlos to Guaymas, and those were fun. Of course, that was the late 80's. There are some nice dive spots out at the island if you can get out there, and the ferry wreck is good too. I don't know if Gary's dive shop is still in business, but Gary is an American and can help find things if you need them. That harbor is pretty well protected. Hold fast and Delos will protect you. All the best!
