Happy Holidays to our amazing Patreon Family!  We hope this post finds you somewhere cozy, happy, and healthy 🥰 Here in Sweden we are happily plugging away at our renovation work, watching Sierra blossom and discover a whole new world in day care, building endless fires and wearing all our fuzziest clothes, and getting ready for Sierra's first Swedish Christmas!  It's a special time for us because after spending the last few years around the Caribbean and U.S./Central America where flights to connect with family are pretty manageable, once we take off for the South Pacific, travel will become a bit trickier.  So we are absolutely making the most of these months here in Sweden and cherishing this wonderful time.  But that being said....we are also SO EXCITED to get back to Delos and continue with our adventurizing and exploration :)

This friday we've got something extra super special for you that has been years in the making, and we are BEYOND stoked to share this with you.  As many of you may know, a few years ago we went on a once in a lifetime sailing expedition into the Arctic Circle where we encountered gnarly and volatile conditions, calving glaciers, polar bears, walruses, beluga whales, some of the most insane landscapes we’ve ever witnessed, and so much more. It was a truly unforgettable experience, and we captured it all and put together a 4 part docu-series which turned out to be our largest creative undertaking to date. We’re super proud of filming, editing, and producing this series of videos and wanted to make something above and beyond what you would normally find on YouTube. We’ve decided to release this series independently which as you might imagine is no small feat. Today we are sharing Part 1 in it’s entirety with you for the first time ever! We hope you enjoy this first glimpse into an incredible part of our planet.

The entire series is 2 hours of pure, stunningly captured sailing entertainment, and if you’ like to watch the rest of the series and support small and independent productions, please visit 80northseries.com to stream episodes 2, 3, and 4 right now.  Here you'll find our “Pay What’s Fair” model. It’s just as easy as it sounds. Just type in the amount you’d like to pay to watch the rest of the series and that’s about it!

Here's the direct link to watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/lasyFyLD7e0

Sending lots of love from our family to yours,

Brian, Kazza, Sierra & Mormor

SAILING ON TOP OF THE WORLD 🥶 What happens when you take 8 warm weather sailors with 20 cameras and put them on a 48 foot sailboat in the High Arctic Wilderness for 3 weeks? Join us and watch this 4 part series dedicated to the expedition to find out! It's 2 hours of pure sailing entertainment! Visit https://80northseries.com to stream episodes 2, 3, and 4 right now! We're super proud of filming, editing, and producing this series of videos and wanted to make something above and beyond what you would normally find on YouTube. We've decided to release this series independently which as you might imagine is no small feat. It's just as easy as it sounds. Just type in the amount you'd like to pay to watch the rest of the series and that's about it! 80northseries.com Episode 1- Where in the world is Svalbard!? (29 minutes) Turns out, it took some investigating from these warm weather sailors to actually find out. The Crew of SV Delos flies into the high arctic and meets up with their new friends from SV Isbjorn. But before setting sail, they must get guns to protect themselves from polar bears, and provision enough food and liquor to hold them over in freezing temperatures for three weeks. Let the expedition begin! Episode 2- In the Blink of a Walrus' Eye. (32 minutes) After leaving the dock, these sailors quickly learn that the conditions of the Arctic can change in the blink of a walrus’ eye. Speaking of Walrus, the crew finds a huddle of these gargantuan creatures and learns first hand about their gnarly smells and sounds. After a not so pleasant encounter with a cruise ship, SV Isbjorn makes her way over to a massive calving glacier. It’s beauty enchants the crew just long enough to put their boat in the danger of a tidal ice flow that they now must navigate out of! Episode 3- Holy Sh*t! That’s a lot of Ice! (31 minutes) The crew attempts to navigate SV Isbjorn out of an ice flow that could easily sink her to the bottom of the anchorage, and somehow has fun doing so. Their survival is rewarded with a visit from a polar bear mother and her young cub, who discover a thawed out whale carcass. The day of insanity continues when Beluga whales appear on the horizon just long enough to launch the drones! Episode 4- Sailing to the End of the Ocean (32 minutes) Beluga whales on the horizon! With drones launched and a hydrophone dropped in the water, the crew quickly realizes why these creatures are known as the canaries of the sea. After 3 weeks of 8 people living on a 48 ft. Boat, these sailors reflect back on the pros and cons of sharing a small space with each other. A major goal is completed when they sail SV Isbjorn all the way to 80° North, a place that the Vikings call “The End of the Ocean”. With one final adventure of a polar plunge next to a Glacier, the crew wraps up the trip by admitting they are now addicted to the Arctic… We're super proud of filming, editing, and producing this series of videos and wanted to make something above and beyond what you would normally find on YouTube. Cannot get enough of this BADASS thumbnail alone!!! I would have this as a wall hanging it’s so perfect. Kazzatron, such a mighty mighty force of pure awesomeness! The divine feminine is strong with this one…an incredible balance of strength & tenderness, not too mention one of the best senses of humor I’ve ever seen☺️ Thank you for the constant inspiration & many giggles too, Karin! Sorry got distracted there😭 The film is so wonderful, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit! Bravo to all!!

Hiedi Kuenzli

Highly recommend to anyone who has not seen in its entirety! Loved the pay what’s fair system, very cool way & was happy to pay as was well deserved with a quality piece like this!

HappyRock616

Cheers gang!! This seems timely since I'm in a massive blizzard in the Midwest.

The cover shot is a polar bear looking at the almost bare back of kazza. Love it! : - ) However, that rifle doesn't look "modern". Is photoshop actually "protecting" Karin from that bear? Hmmmmm. PS - I remember only 3 parts to the documentary. Am I just remembering wrong?

Merry Christmas guys! God Jul! We are getting a lovely PacNW ice glaze you may remember from your days in Seattle! A quick weather check showed 21° at Mauna Loa, HI and 25° Century, FL. That makes 50 states 🥶! Stay warm, stay healthy! Gott nytt år!

I really enjoyed watching all four parts on 80northseries.com when it came out -- Highly reccomend it! This inspires me to go back and rewatch. How is this self publishing/funding model working out?

Bill Dapp

Merry Christmas! 80northseries was awesome when it came out. How's the Nugget liking the snow?

Scott C. Wise

I just finished watching Part 1 for the 5th (?) time! : - ) Anyone out there who is a newer patron, you've got to give all 4 parts a viewing! I guarantee it'll be worth it. Share a viewing on Christmas day! It would be an awesome gift!

Odd you mention blizzard. At 9 am this morning, here in south central New York State it was 37 degrees F. At 10 am the wind started blowing and the temp started falling. By 11 am it had fallen 10 degrees. Right now, at almost 3 pm the temp is 9 degrees F (-12.8 Celsius) and the wind is a constant 20-30 mph! That's a 28 degree Fahrenheit fall! Now, I wonder what the wind chill is? LOL

Sailing SV Delos

Yeah we've seen lots of videos on Instagram of people sliding around everywhere, looks crazy there right now! Hope you're staying warm and cozy out there!

Sailing SV Delos

Awesome Lon, so glad you enjoyed it! We're pretty happy with the self publishing model, we're happy we've been able to cover some of the costs of the about 2 years worth of post production and to do it in the way we wanted. We learned a lot too, and its great model for potential future filming missions.

Sailing SV Delos

Merry Christmas to you too Bill, glad you enjoyed it! Oh man she LOVES it! It's an entirely different planet for her 😂

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Ed, this is the same series, we have just never released the first part to the public before. Previously the whole series was only available to be streamed with our "pay what's fair" website.

Sailing SV Delos

No it's actually a friend we met years back who sprang to our minds as the perfect voice when we started writing the script for it!

Michael Williams

As fast as it came, we are now awash in 50° plus… and a whole lot of rain. I hope your mail got through! Happy New Year!

Scott C. Wise

I think that, because I saw what you had at the Boat Show in 2019 (and that was part 1 ? ), I assumed part 2,3, and 4 as parts 1,2, and 3. Yes, bear lucky! LOL
