Hey hey everyone!  We've got a doozie of an episode for ya this week that is jam packed with action, some drama, chocolate cake, and family adventures in one of the most truly beautiful places we have ever laid eyes on.  The crowning glory of our antics in this one is grounding Delos...and when I say we went aground...I don't just mean a "oops, I think we might have touched the bottom"...we are legit sitting on the ground with no hope of wiggling our way out even with every trick in the book that we've picked up over the years πŸ˜‚

But besides getting super stuck, this place is RIDICULOUS.  The water is probably the clearest we've ever seen in 13 years of sailing around the world, and it happens to be teeming with a very healthy population of manta rays that we have some incredible encounters with.  This place looks like it came right out of a story book paradise, and we really hope you enjoy taking it all in with us in this week's episode!

Sending lots of love from the whole family!

Oh! That's right! It's SV Delos Friday! : - ) I'll make breakfast then watch! I've finished breakfast and have now watched. But I have a question. Brian, why does it look like you're takin' a pee in that cover shot? LOL Wait! I know, because just a little more fluid in the ocean and Delos will float clear. Who needs the tide when you can release just a bit of what's inside! Hahaha

Andrew Berry

Great episode. The flat shoe on the bottom of Delos keel seems ideal to rest on the sand a bit. Good work on the Manta front!

Michael Conway

Great video and so happy to see Mormor get to visit. I can't wait for that content, it's always some of the best! Thanks for the great Friday lunch time entertainment.

Myra Slepoy

OMG, you two are proper cinematographers! You are evolving so in your storytelling and it is impressive! The vibe was amazing and your humor perfect. Thanks, as always, for making my Friday brighter.

Every sailor finds the bottom sometime! Yours was easier than a few of mine!

Congratulations on naming two manta rays πŸ§‘πŸ’—πŸ§‘ That is super special being a steward for sea life ! Did you know the Queen of the Mantas, Dr Andrea Marshall found the possibility the group of them near Mozambique πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ώ ?

SV Trippin'

Beautiful!! Dude the underwater wing would have been perfect to check out the Mantas!! I think sometime you should run a line thru your downwind poles and drag with the wing when you are around dolphins!! it would be a blast! Cheers

Thanks so much for the kind words Myra, so happy you enjoyed this one and so glad to hear we can bring some sunshine and good vibes to you every week πŸ₯°

So true! We're no strangers to hitting the bottom, but this was the first time we've been properly stuck in a looooong time πŸ˜‚

Sailing SV Delos

This is the truth! And yep, it was a pretty mellow one considering even though we were suuuper stuck it was just sand bottom and we knew we'd be free again when the tide came up. We had one pretty scary moment in the Solomon Islands in my first lap through the Pacific where we got stuck on a reef and getting pounded into it...SO intense and we were so lucky to come out more or less unscathed πŸ˜…

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Shannon, and that's really interesting, will have to read up on that! We would love to make it to Mozambique on our next lap around!

did you guys ever try attaching the anchor line to the top of the mast and tilting the boat over (careening?)
