Gettin’ right to it: Big ol’ side project announcement time 😊

How do we feel about webcomic glow-ups?? Cuz I just might be revamping Spurs & Stripes behind the scenes in my free time!

It’s not gonna be entire page or scene redraws, ain’t nobody got time for that, more just tweaking all the 10-12 year old artwork I was drawing when I had no idea what I was doing and now have WAY better tools (and years of experience) to work with lol This is mainly just for consistency-sake cuz surprisingly S&S is still kinda popular all these years later. Books still sell and comic sites get traffic so I think it’s earned a teeny makeover of characters/backgrounds/text sizes/etc! It’ll still end up looking dated but at least not like I drew it with my foot.

More on that progress later! (still gotta figure out updating it online vs. reprinting books vs. updating digital PDF purchase, etc). I will say I’m about 160 out of 359ish pages done so far though! 👍

RED’S MM BOOK JOURNEY

In the Pat Chat I said I’ve been on a massive gay romance novel binge this past month (audiobooks REALLY help me stay focused while doing artwork) so here’s my mini book reviews for a few! These aren’t all I’ve read so far but at least worth mentioning since I’m hitting a lot of popular books first (disclaimer: I eat Trigger Warnings for breakfast so please do some research on your own if you have any and are interested in reading!!)

BESTEST:

• Bro Doll by J. De Saint: Bro finds out his kink is pretending to be a sex doll and his 5 “straight” bro roommates take a liking to that

Award for ‘What The Fuck Did I Just Read 2026’ 😂 Funny, ridiculous, literal full spice with some warm fuzzy bits at the end, 4/5

• For The Fans by Nyla K: stepbrothers who hate each other decide the only way to get money for college is to start an OnlyFans together

The boys, their banter and the spice is SO GOOD. Last act is a bit melodramatic/sappy but excusable for all the fun ‘I’m totally not gay, but gotta do gay shit with my stepbrother’ shenanigans, 4/5

• Double-Edged by Nyla K: Twin boys unfortunately fall in love with each other then unfortunately also fall in love with their stepdad. Banned on Amazon/major retailers so must buy from author’s website! https://authornylak.com/double-edged

Holy shit I fell HARD for these 3 boys. If you don’t mind your (plentiful) spice a bit taboo and angsty (THIS is how you do drama!!!) with a great payoff then this is for you, pardon the dated term but Cyrus is ULTIMATE cinnamon roll, 5/5

(^besides maybe For the Fans this is the only book I couldn’t immediately move on from so far out of the 14 or so I’ve read. Assuming mixture of Nyla K as an author and Corvin King as a narrator, that man has the SEXIEST voice I’ve ever heard)

MID:

• Tragedy of Felix & Jake by J Daniels: Two recovering addicts fall in love and traverse all the misfortunes that come with being ex-addicts together

Boys were super cute and chemistry was top tier but drama was drama-ing a little too convenient for my liking (Double-Edged played some of these plot devices MILES better imo), 3/5

• God of Fury by Rina Kent: Tough mafia dude lusts after a secretly damaged preppy artist until they fall in love

It was aight. Brandon’s backstory reveal was a bit forced/not written the best but Nicolai being hilarious throughout saved it from ‘meh’, 3/5

MEH:

• Kiss the Villain by Rina Kent: Tough mafia dude lusts after his criminal law teacher (who’s actually also a tough mafia dude) until they fall in love

-and-

• Hunt the Villain by Rina Kent: Two mafia dudes from warring sides lust after each other until they fall in love

I’m sorry!! For being so popular I expected less cliche I guess?? Maybe Rina Kent just ain’t for me, I feel all 3 I’ve read from her hit the same. exact. story beats. Please don’t hurt me Kent fans out there! 😅 2/5 for both

• Garron Park by Nordika Night: White trash trailer park motocross rivals fall in love

Not sure why this one is so popular??? I can’t even remember what happens in most of it, it was pretty forgettable for such an unconventional setting 🤷‍♀️ 1/5
