It's finally working! Thanks to the integration between Patreon and Acast, our podcast host, we can now provide an ad-free podcast feed for Hardware Unboxed supporters.

This audio feed will also include an audio version of our Q&A series in a digestible podcast-like format, exclusive to supporters. There's also the potential for our livestreams to be included in this feed as an exclusive audio version, along with bonus content.

You can access your custom private podcast feed from the Patreon membership tab. This feed can be imported into your favorite podcast app. Episodes are available to those with a gold membership or higher.

Thanks for your support!

Neat. Personally, I've started listening to the podcast on YouTube instead of Spotify specifically because the ads were starting to annoy me. I have both Spotify Premium and YouTube premium but I only get ads on Spotify podcasts, so I might as well use YouTube.

The ads integrated into our podcast should only be from Acast itself, embedded into the feed - so you would get ads regardless of any podcast app subscriptions you have. But with the supporter feed there should be zero ads whatsoever, unless your podcast app sucks and integrates its own ads

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply it was a Spotify thing specifically, it's just that that's where I typically listen to podcasts, but most of the podcasts I listen to don't have a YouTube version unlike HUB. As far as I know, you guys aren't embedding ads into the YouTube version? If you are, I haven't really noticed them, anyway.

Ads on either platform are taken care of by the platform. So YouTube ads are the usual YouTube ads (removed for YouTube Premium members). Audio ads are Acast ads, which they embed into the feed for us. We don't embed any of our own ads into the episodes (at this point) but the supporter feed for Patreon members will be totally ad free

Understood. 👍 Sadly, I don't think Spotify supports importing custom RSS feeds so I will probably stick with using YouTube for now, or else go back to using PocketCasts or some other app down the line.

Is it still being setup? It says url not found. The redirect to acast also says it doesn’t exist 🤔

The way we got it to work is to click on "Copy Link" on Patreon, then open that link in a web browser. From there you can either scan the QR code with a phone which gives you options to link the podcast to various apps, or you can copy the URL shown on screen directly into your podcast app. There is also a chance that copying the link from Patreon directly into your podcast app will work. But yes it should be set up and working already

but the link that gets copied for me doesn't work. even on desktop, if I copy the link and then paste it into the browser, it gets redirected to acast, but then that just says "SHOW_FEED_NOT_FOUND"

Same here, tried it on two different browsers on deskstop and firefox on phone and none worked. Hope Acast/Patreon can sort it.

What about if you click on the podcast icon below the Hardware Unboxed logo/header, which has a link that opens a different Acast page?

Chase

that works, but the copy link button in the podcast portion of the membership page still doesn't. weird, thanks for the solution though

I don't know why there are two separate links, but glad it works. The whole system of linking Patreon to Acast was fully broken for months so I'm not surprised there's a few bugs

For those (like me) who were confused about the link, its the pod icon (looks like a antenna) at the top right under "Creating Benchmark Videos and Reviews"
