Just a quick update on my end. You probably won’t see a video from me until mid next week as I currently don’t have power/phone or Internet services where I live. 2 days ago we had some wild weather, apparently a once in 40 year storm with winds hitting 120kph. The high winds were sustained for several hours so the damage across the state was extensive.

Unfortunately a lot of homes have been destroyed and one person tragically lost their life.

I’ve temporarily relocated my family to my wife's parents house as they have power and Internet (though I can’t really work here). So we’re all okay and our house is okay (perhaps more importantly the shed laughed in the face of prolonged high speed winds). We also avoid flooding as we’re on top of a large hill.

Disappointingly half my backyard has been whiped out with dozens of large gum trees destroyed, flattening the surrounding garden. It’s a bit devastating given all the work and time that went into it, but that’s how these things can go, we’ll just rebuild it. It could have been much worse, so I’ll look at the bright side (plus I can make a lot more garden vlogs now).

Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know what’s going on and why you might not see much content from me over the next week or so. I was considering heading to Tim’s house so I could work there, but I think I’ll stick with the family and help out there and start the clean up.

Some Guy

Hope all will be well soon Steve!

Sorry to hear that. The weather was insane that night, our whole suburb lost power in Melbourne and our house was shaking like crazy, some houses in the suburb only got power back yesterday evening. Take as much time off as you need, family and life comes first. Take care mate

Ben Wagener

Oh my, all the best to you Australians, especially that their won't be more casualties!

Eric Smith

Stay safe had the same issues last year keep safe and you will get through this.

Ash Portelli

Sorry to hear about all the damage. We were lucky to make it though the storm with minor damage and thankfully had no power loss this time. My work has also been without power and the last update was for power to be fixed by Sunday. Good luck with the clean up

Josh Harris

You made the right call Steve. Look out for the family and help where you can. YouTube can wait. Stay safe

Chris Dupres

Hey Steve if there's anything the community can do, let us know. Not necessarily for just you and yours but your wider community. When my town burned down 7 years ago the whole world rallied together, I think we can get a few pent up nerds with nothing to spend their money on to chip in a bit.

Be strong mate!! Another terrible calamity, this two years are the disgusting time I never see on my 50 years of my life.

The Trojan

Geez mate, I didn’t realize it was that bad down there. Glad you’re fine.

Isogen

Glad you all are safe.

Eleriam

I'm glad that you and your family are well. Get your bearings first, no point in rushing anything really.

BigAL268

Dang Steve, What a Storm! Glad to hear you and the Family are all right. Maybe you can get some use out of all of those Stanley Batteries you got in the Shed!! Stay Safe mate!

Matthew Baker

Sorry to hear that mate, it was a crazy night. Hope you and the family are safe.

I grew up on the US Gulf Coast and have had to deal with wind storms here in Michigan. I quite understand. Family comes first.

Brian Scanlon

Sorry to hear it, but glad you and your family are OK!

Warren

Mother Nature needs to give you Aussies a break. Glad you're okay, Steve.

Zac Harrold

Happy to hear you and your family are safe! Take a well earned break for a bit, even if unplanned

Isaac

Good to hear your family are doing well and your property (mostly) made it! Around these parts we had wildfires last summer and a massive ice storm this past winter - both were the worst in decades and resulted in a lot of destruction. Now going in to the new summer we're in what's being categorized as a severe drought. So far the 2020s have been a bit mental to say the least!

JoeyTheSaint

Good to hear you and your family are safe! :)

Gregory Lee Parks

Stay safe! Let us know if there is anything we can do to help... like buying the terrible pre-builts from you. I know they are awful, but hey, sign it and it becomes a collector's item to one of us (I'm pretty sure it is not just me).

Paul Taylor

Hi Steve, Glad to hear you and your family are fine. The damage to the garden is a bugger, but I wouldn't rush out and turn everything to wood chips - you might be able to salvage some of it. (e.g. pruning/coppicing.)

Alejandro Ramon Fernandez

Wow, just watched the video in the link, glad you and your family are ok. Take your time Steve 👍

ET3D

So sorry to hear what you people are going through. I'm glad you, your family and home are largely fine. I'll be missing your content, but take the time. I think you're right to say with your family.

Roger Parr

+1 to all the best wishes for you and your family.

Roger Parr

I don't know if your garden plot would allow it, but if you can, leave some of the fallen trees and let nature deal with them. They can provide a home for a whole range of insects and other small creatures and help sustain the natural ecology.

Lan Tao

Here's to a speedy return to normal life with power and connectivity and no trees falling over. Take care!

Alryel

Glad to know you guys are safe and resilient, looking forward to the rebuild =)

FB

Stay Strong, much love from Canada.

McElvisss

Glad to hear you’re all ok, and you escaped most of the damage. All the best with putting the garden back together!

Sean DeMarco

Condolences to the family and friends who lost a loved one.

The most important thing is that you and your family are safe. But maybe is time to think about solar panels and battery, because this crazy weather events are more frequently in last years... (and Starlink ;) )
