Chinatown wars is gta 4 in the same way Mario kart tour is Mario kart 9 technically yes but not exactly

Just about every movie released during this period had an "us against them" vibe to it. People were angry and they wanted someone to blame, so the bad guys were often corporations or wealthy people. This bled into dystopian sci-fi films like In Time, Elysium etc. The news ran stories on how to date the 1 in 9 guys you might meet at a bar who were unemployed, and how ladies had to lower their standards.

The Jeffersons is a good South Park episode to watch

This is absolutely my favorite era of South Park. Seasons 12-14 have some genuinely great social commentary particularly regarding the issues of the times. South Park has always been good at this ofc, but this was really when they perfected it imo. Another episode from Season 13 that I love for its commentary is Pinewood Derby; much like this one it has an obscenely stupid premise (far dumber in fact) that goes in a direction you do NOT see coming, and it is kind of incredible. It also is hilarious, but that's a given.
