As usual, this is a work in progress. If you don't want to spoil anything before the comic is done, DO NOT READ THIS POST. However if you want to read this post after the comic is posted, you're more than welcome to look at my thought process and changes.

Update 1/30:
Panel two done!
This scene had a few complications that I had to figure out. One of those problems was figuring out what natural formation of stuff actually causes echos. I decided to go with a 'canyon' like structure at first because that makes the most sense. As you can see, I did not draw a canyon. I had no idea how to draw a canyon, and a 'big hole' seemed less intimidating to do. Plus I polled 1 person who said a hole in the ground is more menacing than a canyon.
Drawing this hole in the ground was still hard. The biggest challenge was learning how to draw a rocky surface for the inside of the hole. I spent a good 2 hours just experimenting and looking up a lot of references on how to draw rocks. Overall I hope it shows.
Incidentally this scene also means panel 3 and panel 4 are almost done (I haven't decided if that's the case yet). The next two panels is just this one slightly zoomed in each time.
I'll hopefully finish this panel up on Sunday, and maybe give my wrist some rest.
Update 1/29:
This story is going to be fairly simple. The concept overall is fascinating to me and I can't think of a good way to make it 'complicated' without losing the idea.
There are several different challenges that this comic poses, one of which is the presence of onomatopoeia (these are sound effect words like 'bzzz' 'arrrrg' 'squish'). You may have noticed that I haven't been adding a lot of speech bubbles in recent horror comics. I find they take away from the scenery. I'm currently looking into different ways to portray onomatopoeia so it doesn't stand out too much.
This comic should also allow me to 'catch' up with my schedule and be done almost a week ahead of time. I'll then be able to do slightly more complex stories with 7 days to work with instead of 5.
