As usual, this is a work in progress. If you don't want to spoil anything before the comic is done, DO NOT READ THIS POST. However if you want to read this post after the comic is posted, you're more than welcome to look at my thought process and changes.

Update 2/3:

Panel one done~

This story is based off of the typical trope of killer in the home. There's a twist to it, and it's all about the surprise of misdirecting you the reader. I had a look over some of my older horrorween posts, and saw how much detail I put in. I'm not entirely sure if I'm keeping up with the quality of those posts (ironically even though I spend more time on each of these).

I'll have to try to put more details into the background. Make it more beautiful. Add more easter eggs.

I left some canvases blank so I can fill them in later when I think of something appropriate for them.

Update 2/4:

Panel two done!

I decided to go a little ham on the interior decoration of the house. I'll have to go back to the first panel and fix up the living room as well as the dining room. With my 'extra' days I should to put in more details into the panels. Maybe I can figure out how to hide things in the decor.

Update 2/5:

Panel three absolutely not done.

What moron said that this comic should be ham-full of details?

I drew a bookshelf. I then got mad flashbacks to the horrorween comic "Support" with that bookshelf. I definitely said multiple times, "never again will I do a bookshelf". I guess I'll be saying that again this time around.

This scene was a little hard to figure out the composition. The story has three levels of storytelling to it. Each level of storytelling has less detail the deeper you go. This is done to trick the reader and create a nice surprise. From my perspective, I think the readers expect some kind of twist or depth. Using that expectation, most people will stop digging once they think they discovered the 'secret'. An analogy would be, "Imagine there's a treasure map with an X on it. If you have two treasure chests, one under the other, most people will never know there's a second."

Trying to tell so much story within 4 panels is hard (you're probably tired of me saying that). So I have to play on expectations and hope that you as the reader can fill in the gaps with what you think you know. This allows me to skimp on a lot of actual storytelling.

Anyways it's late and I'm rambling. So much to fill in on those damn shelves.

Update 2/6:

I originally wanted to have this scene slightly different, but I realized with the intended lighting (heavy shadow), it would be hard to show the details that I'm going for. This panel is fairly simple and doesn't exactly contribute too much depth to the story except for giving you that 'aha' moment.

There's probably a few more things I'd like to add, specifically some toys on the ground and maybe a poster.

Update 2/7:

Panel 1 and 2 done?

I was going to shade and colour panel 3, then I realized I forgot about the bookcase. That can wait for when I wake up.

Panel 1 and 2 potentially require a little more work, but I'm not sure what else to add. I'll sleep on it.

Update 2/8:

Panel 3 Done.

I... hate... bookshelves... NEVER AGAIN. STILL GOT ONE PANEL LEFT AAARRGG!
