Update 6/5: Finished all 4 panels

Horrorween 2021 lets go!!! I 'took' a few weeks off to come up with ideas for horrorween this year. I felt really anxious not making horror comics for that period of time.

Last year I operated on just a vague idea of what was going to happen with a few Easter eggs that followed a specific theme. Hopefully this year I can do better.

This one stems from the concept and practice of replacing a pet after it dies in hopes that the child doesn't notice or reacts poorly to the concept of death. Except of course, with a twist.

Originally I had the parents in the second panel standing in the doorway and the kid looking back at them. I had to change that because it drew too much focus onto the parents themselves. I instead placed them behind the window and threw some leaves to draw some focus away from them. I may move them to the other window, it may hide them better.

In the third panel I had planned on having the hamster bloodied with a hammer resting on the desk but I figured that was too graphic and made the parents too ominous. Besides I already have the 'mother' in the background just living her best life. I may throw in a few more Easter eggs in this one to flesh out the world.
