Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day! Our first Bonus of November, and as we start heading into the dreaded holiday season, money is on a lot of people's minds... especially the minds of the CEOs who want yours. And did you know, they think you pay TOO LITTLE for the products and services they provide?! Well, if you didn't know that, they're certainly brave enough to say it to your face these days. Enjoy this video about the CEO of Ticketmaster saying that Ticketmaster doesn't charge you enough for tickets.

For about a decade now (maybe more?) we've been hearing about how ticket prices for concerts (and sporting events) are way overpriced, that "back in my day I saw Queen perform for $10! Now they want $200 to see some band that's not even half as good!" WELL, did you know that actually, you're paying too LITTLE to see concerts in 2025?! You'll never guess who thinks that... conveniently, it's the guy who owns the company that sells all the tickets! A look at two different executives who feel that you'd tolerate being ripped off even more.

Concerts are Actually TOO CHEAP?! (Extra Dose)

Hahah that rich fuck is delusional to think that concerts are cheap

I’ve been to one concert in my life. Might have been twenty years ago. I’d rather spend my money on things that last. That’s mostly books and writing supplies.

I did pay $6 USD to see Elvis Costello back in the day, and $12 for close floor seats to see Yes, so that part is true.

Overall, yes. The amount of overcharging depends on the show. A lot of these pop tours are really more of a broadway show than a traditional concert. Those productions have to be incredibly expensive.

Thank Christ for SeatGsek for getting me tickets for Survivor Series in Vancouver last year for $280 where Ticketmaster was charging me over $1k for the same section

Used to go to 5-6 major concerts a year; that’s gone down to 1-2 because of pricing. Unfortunately it’s going to keep going up as long as there is demand, a monopoly on tickets, and as long as people keep paying

MichaelD8393 .

Spending $100 TOPS on a concert ticket would be a "badge of honor".

It's almost a "Don't hate the player, hate the game" situation. I say almost, because the CEOs are so smug about it. They're basically telling people to be grateful that they aren't charging them a year's pay for a nosebleed ticket.

If there's one thing that can bring world peace, it's hatred for Ticketmaster. Am I going to stop attending concerts, no? Hell I was at one last night. What they don't factor - from a fan perspective is the associated outgoings for a concert. Sure, your ticket can cost $99, but consider an Uber at 11pm, plus drinks, and you're looking at double. From a CEO perspective, I get it. Insurance and council permits for events is big bucks. I am predominately a hard techno person, (I went to the bbno$ concert last night) But. As a hard techno event promoter for an org, It is normal to advocate for people to finance their tickets. Just saying that is normal here. And I don't want to get that more mainstream.

Nicole

support your local artists and smaller venues if you want live entertainment..or pay up, I guess.

Ron

The delusions of the rich are comedy gold lol

DOAA

he acts like the people spending that money on lakers tickets aren't looked at as fucking idiots

Captain Bon Clay

People who spends tens of thousands to go to the Super Bowl or any other sporting event are just idiots who don’t deserve that money in the first place

I used to think about why people don’t boycott these things. My idea started with Hulu/ Netflix and their rising prices on subscriptions. Now I think about on all forms of entertainment, things we can live without. Everyone complains about how expensive everything is, why not give them a message and stop paying for it till they lower prices.

Aaron Rainer

And this is why people pirate the UFC and WWE, I guess sports games too idk,

A Dose of Buckley

Same reason people don't boycott anything... THEY don't want to be mildly inconvenienced! Someone else should be, while they reap the benefits!
