The subterranean catacombs were a place of punishment for the most heinous of crimes. The people who were exiled to this dark and foreboding place had their eyes gouged out as a sign of their shame and disgrace.

For generations, the descendants of these exiles lived in darkness, never knowing the beauty of the world above. They relied on their other senses to navigate their way through the catacombs, and they developed a unique language of clicks and whispers to communicate with one another.

But something strange began to happen over time. The descendants of the exiles started to lose their sight, even though their eyes had been gouged out long ago. At first, it was just a few individuals, but soon it became a widespread phenomenon. The people of the catacombs were turning blind and eyeless.

No one knew exactly why this was happening, but some speculated that it was due to the lack of light in the catacombs. Others believed that it was a curse, a punishment for the sins of their ancestors.
